Before everyone jumps the SOE ship ... there is a planned planetside 2 (an admittion from SOE that theres not too much further to go w/ PS) that has been referred to in several SOE press releases. Except, I cant find a link to any of them 
Anyone got one of them? One of them was at an australian conference or something.

that's great news. Now SOE can make a sequel to completely screw up.

And it looks like they're getting desperate for money with the new in game ads now.

I played planetside. It was actually fun when I was playing, but then again, I was in a great unit. Sturmgrenadiers. If you are looking for an outfit and are serious about gaming, this is the group to be with. They charge a membership fee, was 10 or 12 bucks for a year when I joined. This pays for a good TS2 server and bandwidth to handle over 200 consecutive connections at one time. They are also in other games as well, SWG, WoW, WW2 etc.

My god, we got some hate issues to SoE here? You are hating a fucking game company. Even in your quote it talks about hating SoE. They are a game company that does NOT force you to play their games. They have proven to be an overall good company, every mmo that they have made has become successful.
If SoE wants to make a PS2, then I would be more then happy to see it. New graphics, storyline, maps, and weapon/armor would be terrific.
God forbid if you have to choke up another 50 bucks and get rid of the game you have been playing for 2 years.

Their limited by an engine that's over 3 years old. That's what's holding them back currently. It's not even on Direct X 9. All in all, the game is still better than any other FPS on the market if you get in the right outfit and squads.

You're right, planetside is a very good game, I really enjoyed it when I played for awhile a few years ago. The only bad thing I can say about it is I didn't like the lack of locational hit detection (shooting someone in the hand = same dammage as the head). Other than that its an excellent game, especially for a game that came out 3 years ago.
I'd love to see a planetside 2.
Dont think I want to see a PS2 and this is comming from a person who currently plays this game..
And here is why, PS started out as a FPS game that actually required skill for you to be good at it.. But with the constant buffs to the Vehicles in the game including the uber noob machines the Flail, BFR's, Tanks, Reavers, Delv/Lib Variants, ect.. It soon became a game in which any nonskilled player could just spam and kill tons of skilled players with ease.
When I first played PS back in Aug of 03 it was extremly fun and lag free for the most part ..It was nothing to see 200 soldiers rushing to your base walls trying to get inside.. It was extremly fun the days of the foot zerg.. Nowadays instead of seeing the 200 soldiers pooring towards your base you want see a thing since you will have 30 reavers, 12 tanks, 9 BFR's, 4 libs, 30 Skeeters, spamming inside your doorways and keeping you bunkered inside the base, and all battles generally end up like this. How much skill does it actually take to hover or bounce up and down in the BFR's case and blast a doorway with your spam weapons?
The devs seem to think this is fun but the players do not which is very evident since most people have left the game. Like I have said and many others have said on the PS forums, vehicles should compliment a game not dominate it.. So for this reason I do not want to see a PS2, I think Halo or Unreal should make a MMOFPS they seem to understand what FPS'ers want and thats a First PERSON shooter game where skills are required.

Guys, no offense... hating on SOE is silly. You can claim they make crappy games all you want but their history speaks for itself:
Not a single failed MMORPG from SOE. They're doing something right. Like them or Hate them they make solid games. YOU may not like them, but a lot of other folks do.
I've played PlanetSide since beta. It hasn't really improved and I think the Core expansion was lame but it is still a great game that's lots of fun.
And to the guy whining about the flail and BFR's and such? I Can take down 90% of BFR's out there without much difficulty as a REXO Armor infantry. There are a FEW skilled BFR pilots but usually you can take them down fairly easily if you're a skilled player.

Planetside used to be the best MMORPGFPS, I think but after last year, it just got sucky..
I heard they fixed the BFR being over powered, and they fixed alot of stuff....
but if I go back, 1 or 2 thing..I wasted 12 bucks XD....or I will be hooked again like was before...
SOE makes great games, they need to learn to keep it up and etc...and get better devs
if SOE did that, they would be on top again, but there not...

Yes, I still play. I haven't played much recently due to real life issues but I do log in from time to time for a few minutes of mayhem. Unfortunately real life came up and smacked me in the ass so I don't have the time to play PS like I used to
But, yes, I still play. Though I just took a 1.5 month hiatus from all SOE games recently from the XP nerf in SWG... I cancelled my AAP in protest... only turned it back on a week ago.

As far as a "rexo noob" you're a moron. Rexo has it's place. I don't like to do it if I need to be mobile but it's nice when I'm in AV mode or Sniper mode. At BR17 I've dropped rexo more times than I can count but I do like having it in some situations.
You are welcome to check my stats on the website, which is exactly why you asked my name and server, don't pretend it isn't, and I think you'll find that, as I said, I do still play, just not often... and I did recently take a long break from all things SOE

There is no game that does large-scale persistent FPS better than Planetside. The only other contender is World War II Online/ Battleground Europe. However I think the WW2OL players would agree it's much more of a simulation and therefore plays at a much slower pace than Planetside.
All other MMOs have PvP that is small scale and point-and-click based, as far as I'm aware.

But since my account expired for good this time this weekend screw that. But with stats like this http://myplanetside.station.sony.com/character.jsp?charId=333214&worldId=15 I doubt your one of those "Skilled Players" your talking about.. So your statement of taking out 90% of BFR's which even the best players (Weare138, TRxTopDog, BigMacAttack,ect) cant even do is rather silly.
BTW a good way to tell how long a character has been played is by looking at the number of Facilities hacked... and with 215 faclities hacked and only 1700 skills its hard to see how your a skilled player. And it would be harder to see how you can solo 90% of BFR's that you come in contact with as a grunt.
