I think pretty much every single thing you listed is inconsequential to guildwars. Guildwars already has great environments bump mapping. The only thing that could be improved is the lack of detail at character creation but theres adequate choices and it doesnt have a profound affect on gameplay.

If i could change anything in guildwars id add expanded rewards for pvp which should be coming right away in the form of improved faction. And id add more varieties of tournament and arena play. More pvp options because pvp endgame options are getting boring and hopefully thats on the way too. Theyre supposed to be adding some more options for guild battles too so it wont require 8 vs 8 player.

I absolutely love this game - the only things I would fix/change are those that annoy my gaming partner the most - just to keep him from bitching all the time! *(LOL)*  These are:

    1)  Undo the nerfing of such spells as Putrid Explosion... I must say, I miss his "boom" :D

    2)  The henchmen... you have to admit, if you ever use them, that they are often more of a hindrance than a help.  Not all of us are in large guilds, and sometimes we even have to play alone.  A healer that really heals instead of tanking would be nice.  A necro that actually uses spells like Deadly Swarm.  An elementalist that casts Fire Storm more appropriately... like NOT after everything is already dead? etc ... :D

Otherwise, I love this game, I was thrilled during the beta weekend events, I pre-paid and had it in my hands the day it hit shelves, and I play almost every day so... I doubt sincerely that I'll stop playing anytime soon!

Well the game is not to bad there isn't really alot that I would have changed but it definatly needs a few things to give it more depth. Like character classes it's just not enough once you've played the game long enough it's really not too much that you can do. Also is character customizing as far as appearance goes. I just dislike the fact that depending on what you primary is you will look a certain way. Is there anything else ohh yea the fact that depending on what part of the game you are at you party size changes. I mean in Post-Searing it's understandable but past that it just doesn't make sense to me anyway, but I still love it and play everyday. Oh and the limited number of characters for your account but it beats FFXI where u gotta pay extra for each one so I won't complain about that.

if i chould change anything in or on the gane it would be more races and professions

I agree with some of the earlier comments...

      1) Improve the AI of the Henchmen.  The casters and ranger need to stay out of malee attacks.  If they are forced into hand to hand, alert us with a message to go defend them.

      2) An aution house would be nice.  Although even newbies would be looking for MAX damage items right away.  If something is offered that is better than what you have at a reasonable price, BUY IT!!!  Worry about getting a MAX damage item when you have the level to use it.

For my own idea of improvement...

      1) Since some quests are specialized around the professions your character is built around, offer rewards that profession can use.  I have an Elemental/Necro L12 in Post and have not gotten one usable reward item from any quest.

      2) Allow the quest reward items to be salvaged for parts.  I would rather have the parts than the low gold price the merchant offers.  Even items I received west of the mountains with high damage go unwanted for trade, even by newbies in Ascalon City new to Post, because the item is not MAX damage (see above).

Still...I look forward to traveling the entire known world of Guild Wars.  See you in Ascalon!! image

i think they should get rid of the zoning

or maby only have to for the cities

I don't think their is anything they need to "fix." Guildwars hasn't really had any problems IMO. No lag, no disfunctionality...

There is always room for improvements... I'd like to be able to make custom chat room for one. /Join chat "bents chat" password: xxxxx. Would make it easier to have alliance guilds and friends talk to each other.

But something needing fixing would imply something was broken.

Better environment - Things like changing sessions and rain.

Pointless features since you or the handful of people you are with can only enjoy the season/weather changes.

More Classes - Make them more expandable, or more "in-depth"

You would need more weapon categories and the ANet said they are only going to implement Great Swords and Axes. Other weapons won't be implemented sadly. Also making the class more diverse will make it impossible to install more classes in the game down the road. Though, ANet did say they were putting in new classes, will the new classes be different from the classes we have now? You can't possibly believe they are going to add the Rogue into the game. Rogues are normally made to be anti-spellcaster who use stealth to get through dungeons, disarm traps or sneak up on enemies. The Ranger and Mesmer already have anti-spellcasting covered. The Rogue's stealth would become overpowering (especially if you cross-class) and they aren't many moves that you could add to make the Rogue any different from the Warrior or Ranger.

More Camera Options - No chase camera

More Physical Detail - Better bump maps

    Definitely.

More Detailed Characters - More faces and body types

They would probably have to redo the whole character generator, which wouldn't suit too well with fans who already favor the current style. If they do a rehaul, ANet should go the GTA: San Andreas route and allow players to cut/grow hair or loss/gain weight.

Better Merchant Construction - Different types

If you asking to better the economy, you'll anger a lot players in an attempt to make GW's economy par up with the other MORPGs (and MMORPGs) already out there. The economy is simplistic so the average causal player doesn't have to spend days trying to make a simple suit.

Only one class option - Can chose not to have 2

Again, one of the things that players find good about about GW is that they can make different kinds of builts. If you change the system to a "traditional" MORPG/MMORPG then you'll anger players and make the game less fun.

Other - Please post what else should be needed :)

A better physics engine (For jump, flipping, riding horse and put more FPS so the game won't be so choppy), in-game moderation, a more open and connect world that isn't full of instances, non-armor casual clothing, etc.

...basically, a major make over is in need.

Id say none of the above.. Guild Wars is pretty perfect to my standards :P

all i would like to change is:

    -Fix the bugs
-Keep brining out updates just like sorrows, it owns ;)

You left my pet out of the poll so I can't vote ;)

My Mesmer/Ranger has a Dune Lizard from the Crystal Desert :)

-Nerf Ether Renewal, it's just plain stupid atm.

-Make preparations miss if the arrow misses, this is stupid too and isn't very logical.

-Make some commands for henchies and pets, since now they just aggro everything and act pretty dumb.

-Change GvG, the idea of the flag is stupid, since it's basicly 7v7, not 8v8.

  • GervinGervin Member Posts: 159
auction house...agreed...also, i think the characters should be able to jump so they can jump off cliffs and whatnot instead of having to go around them...

  • LegondaryLegondary Member Posts: 3

    Auction house definately.

Id love to see a dual arena (1 vs 1) - same profession battles. It may not work so well at the current stage of this game being team-based. But there are so many people who talk as if they "pwn" anyone in the game, I say put up a duel arena and challenge people. Perhaps have certain dueling skills designated just for that.

(woot I finally desided to post on forums 8))

    Improvements?

    - Make the game harder!!! It's so very very easy .. especially after playing one character! I don't want all my characters to be lvl20 in a day. I want a real challenge!! And Lornars pass .. most idiotic moronic thing I've ever seen in a game.

    - Add taverns .. for the occasional RP player. It's called a rpg .. not much rp involved, unless the thing that the game more or less enforces on you. Give guilds a hometown. Introduce mini-games. Things like that to cater the community feeling.

    - Make capes 100k in stead of 2k. So many people quit and 99% of the guilds consist out of 20 people of which 80% has quit the game, all wearing ugly meaningless capoes. Make being in a guild and having capes something special.

But well .. I guess it will never happen. The game is too short for that, although for some it has some longevity, most people quit within a few months because there's not much left to do. "Do PvP!" one can call but RPGs are traditionally no pvp games.

I played the game for months, and then stopped. The reason I stopped are numerous, and I'll share them with you. These improvements in my opinion are what Guild Wars really needs:

    1) Less Linear
The mission system while fun and interesting at first really make the game very linear. It kills the replay value in that you have to do the same quests in the same order. Oh sure you could use the maps to get to where you're going, but that takes longer, and you lose out on all that great XP. Perhaps instead of making mission A to mission B to mission C, mission A could take you to missions B and C, and mission B will take you to C, D and F, etc. You could if you wanted back track and play all of the missions, but at least the game won't be so painful when you try to build up your second and third characters.

    2) More Stuff
There needs to be lots more armor. Tons of it. In all different shapes and sizes. Even if it's just reskins of existing armor. It sucks to play for hour and hours, and finally you make it to the next town, and low and behold, the new armorer there has a vast improvement in armor for you. You can get the exact same armor you were wearing before, with a 5 better armor class. Also, different armor suits should mesh up with each other better. If you want to wear ascalon boots and gloves, and platemail body and legs, it should at the very least mesh up correctly (this may be a bad example because I've never worn the ascalon armor). There are some armor combos though where the legs stop two inches short of the boots, and it just looks ridiculously stupid.

There also needs to be more weapons and weapon options. Hammers, Axes, and Swords are nice, but where are the Great Swords? What about dual wielding? Why not have a single handed hammer/mace category along with a double handed sword/axe.

    3) More Variety
Have you ever noticed that warriors all kinda look alike. Like they were all cloned from the same DNA? The armor problem mentioned before only compounds on this. There aren't enough options in creating the appearence of your character. This is a fault of many MMORPG's not just this one. This may be improved by adding more races or more professions, but that's not the best solution. I understand that they tried to make all of the characters of a single class look similar to each other so that you could quickly spot the healer, or the elementalist, or the whatever in pvp. So maybe they could offer a few simple changes, like choosing facial hair. Or altering body type slightly. In reality just offering more armor options would probably be enough. Other than that the character creation is simple and in depth similtaeously and I applaude the creators for their fantastic work.

    4) You shouldn't need 8 players
Honestly, how many people do you know who plays these games and have 7 friends who also play who will all be online at the same time. Some times you don't want to worry about getting online and standing around before you next mission hoping that you'll join a group that doesn't suck this time. It's frustrating to rely on the dumb AI of the henchmen. Instead it would be very nice in the higher missions if you could say log in with your buddy who lives accross town start up the mission, and still feasibly beat it, even if you have to go back and play a few older missions again to become more powerful to do so. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be some missions that don't require between 6 and 8 players to beat, I'm just saying it shouldn't be every mission. This may require an increased level cap, or it may require getting better armor earlier if you fork out extra gold for it. None the less, there should be a way that a husband and his wife, or a group of 3 or 4 buddies can log on and have a great time while expanding their characters.

    5) Character advancement to limited
You can get to level 20 in a week or two if you try really hard, and after that the character progression and improvement almost comes to a stand still. Sure there's the odd skill you can add, or you can go out and steal a skill from an elite skill from a monster that would complete your character, but after a while you're pretty much done. Maybe it should involve a level cap increase, maybe it should involve better armor and weapons down the road, but there's nothing worse that getting your character to level 20 and realizing that this is it, this is what I have.

Well these are my main beefs with the game. Feel free to agree or disagree with me.

  • HashmanHashman Member Posts: 649

I don't know if this would kill off some of the multiplayer aspect, but I'd like to be able to, not control, but alter the function/style of henchmen. They could be assigned variuos modes, protective, suicidal, passive, or maybe alter style per class of henchmen. I just find it a little annoying when you have a basic heal and you rely on the healer who just keeps on bombing mobs with her staff image. As far as I can tell the logic is attack whatever you are attacking, the mage tends to be overzealous with AoE spell so by the time he has finished casting all mobs are dead, maybe get a heal or +health regen.

Fine tune AI for henchmen, that's all I'd like. Damn it is a good game! image Can't really complain and don't have a reason to especially since it is free.

Best thing would be to remove henches from the game entirely.

As a very dedicated player to Guild Wars I agree with most that tinkering with a great game is rough not to make it start sliding in the wrong direction, however (you knew that was coming) I do have a slight sugestion!
Armor: Here is something that you pay bookoo gold for (15k armor for instance) that has very little player involvement! What the game needs IMHO is an armor/weapon shops with crafters that allow you to design your armor! Not the style let that be controlled by the type of armor, but the look (ie colors of different layers) much like the capes design allow. If you want different coloring you would of course have to buy the dye prior to actually being allowed to customize your armor the way you want but it would go a long way to making this expensive suit of clothing feel more like your own instead of cloned copies of Dragon Armor with Black Dye jobs!

Then certain missions would only be able to be done at prime time... try doing the jungle missions at 9am and finding a workable group. The game is still new even... it will only get worse later on as there are even more options of progression.

Would make the game very newbie unfriendly.
