Lol speaking of death servers I logged into my home server last night, there was literally 5 people in orgrimmar, today was going to be my farewell to wow since my sub is up tonight, then GW2 offered up another stress test so I guess last night could have been my last. The server I typically play on is loaded with people though, just my home server was dead.
Most my chars are on EU vanilla servers, the only server that had a healty population of those 6 was Stormscale, but i dint play there since TBC :P At the other 5 servers i have 85's on the guys had monopoly in the AH selling blue gems for over 500 gold and glyphs for 800 gold and higher lol.
Toll Barad was 3 versus 2 -_- between 5 and 15 people online in Ogri or Stormwind :P
its heartbreaking Blizzard dint do anything but taking people's money to transfer off and let all those servers to die and rot.
What would be interesting is if ArenaNet pull a double whammy and release the first major content patch for GW2 on the 25th of September. Not really sure why Blizzard are trying to compete with a b2p game anyway, how can you compete when you're not fighting over subs?
Who says they are? MoP release date was published before GW2 release date was known. They are applying the pre-expansion patch 1 month before expansion release date. Obviously timed perfectly for a B2p game and not their own company strategy that has been proven over years of releases.....
Blizz2004: "I bet we should release content for the next 8 years in Q4 so we can keep GW2 from stealing our customers"
I dunno, ANET showed the game on gamesCon late August 2010 and are releasing the game one week after GamesCon 2012. To me it seems like ANET have known this date for a long time but didn´t officially go out with it until they were 100% sure they actually could deliver on it.
I think Blizz indeed are at least somewhat worried about GW2, they do know many of people who are making it and the first lead designer of the game, Strain, is among many considered one of the best people that ever worked on Blizzard. Not being worried would be stupid and Blizzard ain´t stupid.
GW2 is releasing just the wrong time, Wow is getting old and Titan & Wow 2 aint ready for launch for a long time (I assume they are working on Wow2) yet. It is the perfect time to leech players from Wow.
Now, GW2 is not really trying to do that, it offers a different focus while you play than Wow and have a payment model that allows you to play 2 without feeling like you waste too much money but at least some people will move totally due to limited time and it is as I said not a perfect time for Blizz to have a large and dangerous competitor.
Actually I did decide to delay getting GW2 for a few months, maybe even waiting till the christmas break. I figured to give myself a few months to get bored with the whole new wow expansion BS.
This happens every time blizz launch a new expack, I tend to focus on professions while they re-tune dungeons end raids, then hop on after they are nerfed into the ground. If I don't do this then, unlike most of the dipsticks that play the game I'll spend the last six months of the expansion wandering around stormwind (or whatever the new hub is) scratching my arse.
hey Loke ! where did you get the info from WoW 2 ? as far as i know Blizzard have said (with a straight face) they wont ever create a WoW2. Only info i have is that Titan is a FPS like mmo, but this info was long time ago also :P

Every game Blizzard made since 1995 have either been a sequel or had one besides Wow + Wow is Blizzards most successful game ever + Activision love money = Wow2.
That equation is a no brainer no matter what Blizz say. They can´t leak too much about it now because it could hurt Wows number of subs. Wow 2 will come, I am willing to bet money on the fact that Blizz have a smaller team working on it right now, and they will introduce it officially a year aafter Titans launch (or 6 months if Titan flops to calm the stockholders).
Then again, knowing Blizzard, Wow 2 wont be ready for release until 2016-2018 unless Titan flops and Activision force them to hurry things up.

Then you must have been as happy as i was for the cluster-tech they introduced to BG, Dungeons and raids (and that will be put in to leveling zones too.) as it did dull the impact of living on such a server had.
Thing is that Blizzard very rarley transfer people off "dying" servers as they feel it makes the problem worse, rather they try to move people to "dying" servers from servers that have to many people. And you always have the option to move on your own. (costly i know but it is a option)
Just to sate my curiosity, what server was/is your main server..? Youmentioned that you used to reside on swescale but moved on...
[mod edit] It was never ever something made to counter gw, even a first part. If you ask child in any region of the world they know what is wow. But if you ask about guild wars they will just shake their heads and ask what for heaven that is
Originally posted by BillMurphy There's actually a surprising amount of good in this expansion, but WoW is getting old. There's no denying that. Still, it's a really excellent slew of content for its fans. I'll be checking it out.
New content for sure, but in my opinion, Blizzard went too far with this patch. The revamped talents and skills was too radical. You should write an article on that.
This week we'll be talking about why WoW should be F2P to 60 by now. I'll save the talent and skill overhaul for a later date (the goods and bads).
If WOW should be F2P to lvl 60, should it not just be F2P period? I hate saying this as a hardcore ex-wow player, but I'm finding it harder and harder to justify ponying up 15 bucks a month for WOW. I have already canceled my sub in anticipation for GW2, but my wife still plays WOW :-)

This have been a good conversation
damit now i have to sun for a month, i always loved the pre-expansion patches, they usually have something fun.
but if GW2 is half as fun as i want it to be, then i can't see myself spending much time on WOW.
this made me laugh!
