I ran across this short little video explaining the Economy of guild Wars 2.

I am not trying to beat the horse as I found some information in the video very informative. If you are not familiar with the buy and sell order of an Auction house system, then its definately worth a look.
At the end of the video he covers how gems can not have any effect on structured PVP. Good little watch if you have the time.
