I was wondering if this game is worth playing in its current state. I'm not really a fan of eastern style games but am willing to give it a shot if there are some good features. Any info/opinions would be appreciated.
I resubbed in May, and I havnt been able to put it down since, but again its all down to expectations and taste. Still get lag and client instabillity, but if you can overcome them obstacles then its worth it imo.
Been playing it a ton lately and thoroughly enjoying it. I know that 2.0 is coming out soon, but I've been enjoying it and will continue to do so through it's transition.
I'd say, if you're interested in it, give it a go. No harm in doing so. ^~

As far as I know, they're not "deleting" or "reseting" your characters, so it's not useless in the least. They're changing literally everything else, but the biggest change will be the game world itself.
I'm not too sure but I doubt they'd have a very happy playerbase having everything deleted for relaunch, but hey, I wouldn't mind restarting with a fresh game myself.

Thanks for the reply,
What do you think of the chances of a new "fresh" server? I know the population isnt big and in all honestly be better to have fewer servers - but having basically a "fresh" game, would be a good idea to have a fresh server with fresh economy, players and so forth.
I dont mind either way.
My other main issue is that if i start now for example and level up, i will miss alot of the new lower content, then basically wanting to start again on a new character to experience it again - ahhh the choices

They will create new servers come 2.0 launch, where the server transfers are off-limits for a while.
Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".
Every now and again, I get this strange urge to attempt to play this awful game. I don't really understand why. It's probably the graphics as I love the armor designs from the screenshots.
Seeing as I believe I read the game will be coming offline a short time before 2.0, I saw no reason to jump in again until after the re-launch. With that said, I'm very excited about it. The screenshots look great and what small bits of video footage I've seen look solid as well.

Thanks! Good to hear some servers coming in after 2.0.
I might aswell play now, get the groove of things, then when 2.0 comes in ill re-roll on the new server and have a new adventure

Sorry for the completely noob-ish question, but I could have sworn that I remember reading that the servers were being wiped once the game comes to the 2.0 stage - I guess they changed their mind on that? Honestly, the impending wipe was the reason I've kept from playing the game all this time (as I don't like leveling up a character, just to have it deleted later), but if they're not actually going to wipe the exisiting servers, I might start playing sooner rather than later.

They have never said servers would be wiped.... We're transfering to new and better servers to make it more responsive. You get to keep your characters and have a one time chance to change your gender/race so....
You can start playing now, but I believe you only have like 2 months before the servers go down for the transition... which may take anywhere from 2 to 4 months on the PC.... PS3 release is sometime beginning fo 2013.

Sure it can be confusing, as it's a unique situation when it comes to MMO's, but no - the servers aren't going to be wiped when 2.0 rolls around. Thousands of people have been playing the game ever since it's debut in 2010 with the support from the developers, so it would be quite a dick move to delete everything. That said Yoshida made it clear that all data aside from minor things such as progression on uncleared quests is being carried over.

Ha, that's great to hear. I'm not sure where I got the idea they were being wiped... probably a semantics misunderstanding or something. Thanks for the clarification .
Edit: Hmm, multiquote doesn't seem to be working. Thanks for your post also ZizouX.
Is there any advantage to buying it before 2.0 is released? Will the game cost more or anything when it re-releases, or anything else?
Also, what changes have they made so far since its release? Has it improved a lot already?
You might get a cheaper box price? They already did the insentives for existing players if you paied for 3 months of subs by a certain date you get the game for 9.99/mo the rest of its life. Also they just took out Goobue mounts so you cant get those anymore

From the "Gamescom 2012" Game play, you can see some jumping.

2.0 is just a HUGE update
New Server software (less data transfer, better server response, etc) and probably more Regional servers instead all server being International.
New Client software (Faster UI response, better graphics configuration, real time shadows, instant changes without logout, Ready to Directx 11, etc)
Gameplay (PvP, New dungeons, New Combat system, Limit system for partys, Quests leveling, Raids 24 people, jumping, etc)
And confirmed that first expansion will be underwater content.
