Is it worth coming back?

I played the game when it was first released but quit after several months due to CRS not living up to promised content. I am wondering if it is worth coming back to the game.

I too played on June 01 and left a year later. I trie dit out a month or so ago and it's the same s&*t. I have a 3.4 Ghz p4 2 gigs o ram and a Geforce6800GT and it still lags like a bitch. For this game to ever live up to what they promised over 4 years ago, it would have to be rebuilt from the ground up. To be honest CRS doesn't have the talent to code such a game.

Ps. It's basicly a ghost town most of the time, big battles like there was in June 01 are non existant, except for when they have a free trial week.

if that is your computer, and it lags, then there is a serious problem on your comp.  I have a 3.4 1 gig ram 6800 GT, same as yours just 1 less gig of ram, and it runs absolutely flawless.

Anywho, the game is a lot beter than it was 4 years ago.  Wait for a free trial and try it for yourself.

Funny thing, I only run as a pilot and I have a very high FPS. Of course, it just can't be related to your hardware/software combination. That's just not possible.

Note to anyone, if you get stutters (which look like lag) any place in the game weither high population or no one around, there is an easy fix.

In your WWIIOL directory find the WW2.exe file.

Right click on it and go to properties.  Click the compatibility tab.  Click the check box labeled "run this program in compatibility mode for...", and set the drop down window to "Windows NT 4.0".  Click OK and restart game.

This solves the stutters in game 80% of the time.  I don't know what causes it, I just know this fixes most because my machine had stutters a couple patches ago.  If it doesn't, double check that you have latest Vid drivers and you cleaned your HD of spyware.

    Umm, no
I average about 120 FPS in Half life2 and most other games. WWII online is shit pure and simple. Rafter, Mo and that white trash guy named killer couldn't code their way out of a wet paper bag. This game and it's developers I see still encourage their boot licking fanboys to defend this heaping pile of dung on other boards. I was there in June 06 son! Worse MMO launch ever!!!!

Well comparing HL2 framerates with a MMOG is just not valid.
Anyways, I have a worse system (P4-2800, 1Gb, X800) than yours and get 40-50 fps on average on the ground with max visual settings. What helped me big deal was reducing sound settings. I have onboard sound so maxed sounds just eat my CPU. While it is true that WWII-OL is a very hardware-demanding game, it should be playable on a system comparable to yours.

I don't know the guys from CRS, nor was I there on June 6 (2001!!), but I do not see the relevance of launch conditions on the current state of affairs...

As for forum discussions about this game, I guess it's the same as everywhere else: pro's and cons. I wish CRS would implement a standard free trial and let people make up their own minds...

I can only say that, although family life does not permit me to play every day, every time when I do go online, I always have a blast on the WW-II-OL battlefield. And, for the record, I'm talking 'bout 2005 old boy!
