I bought it, tied it on a stress test. I got a tiny little taste of it and it left me wanting more.

But still, to make the statement that we've played the game (in Beta Events) and we love it. IS not much different than going down to some all inclusive tropical resort like Sandle's or something, finding some young newlywed couple on their honeymoon and listening them tell you how good married life is.

I think it's fair score. This is top noch game. I've seen scores above 9. so i think it deserves it.

GW2 has been seriously overhyped and there is no doubt about it. Sure, it's a good game and it's got some solid gameplay in it, and it does a good job of keeping people playing together rather than competing for resources, and it's bringing back some quality PvP, and it's adding the exploration factor back into the mmorpg genre, and it's buy to play, and it's improving on the questing system through dynamic events, and it's providing decent graphics while remaining playable on more dated systems, and it has WvWvW on a huge map with lots of different ways for guilds to participate even if they are large or small.

Sure, it has all that but what does it REALLY provide? Oh yeah, and it has underwater combat and jumping puzzles and an interesting crafting system and horizontal progression.

But what does it REALLY bring to the table? I mean besides the seige weapons, and keep storming, and epic skins and original races with unique lore.

So yeah. Overhyped to the MAX!

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.

I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.

I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.

As a hardcore mmo enthusiasts and avid PVP'er(still playing DAOC) I couldn't disagree more.

PVP is the game's strongest advantage by a mile.

There are alot of games that have a race of plant people born from nature into the world as adults, holding the memories and experiences of those others that have came before?

Different take on similar concepts, doesn't make it original.  As for the lore, well....start with Dragon Lance I guess, but it is by no means the only thing in the Zeitgeist.  GW2 story is neither unique or original.  The characters are well done though.

The lore stuff I'll just say personally I didn't like it...at all.

Rough thumbnail guide, for those who somehow missed the last couple of months here.

Of course there will be exceptions, don't be silly.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

    Let's see here:

    Definition of hype

    noun

    [mass noun]

extravagant or intensive publicity or promotion:

    • his first album hit the stores amid a storm of hype

    • is his comeback a hype?

    verb

    [with object]

promote or publicize (a product or idea) intensively, often exaggerating its benefits: they were hyping up a new anti-poverty idea o

I think the noun definition suffices..but let's investigate further.... What does promote mean?

    promote Pronunciation: /pr??m??t/

Translate promote into French | into German | into Italian | into Spanish

    Definition of promote

    verb

support or actively encourage (a cause, venture, etc.); further the progress of:<span exgrbreak"=""> some regulation is still required to promote competition

    [with object]
    • some regulation is still required to promote competition
    • they are using famous personalities to promote the library nationally
    • the government of the day would not be promoting the bill

So hype means the extravagant or intensive support of actively encouraging of an object.

So maybe it is hype afterall?  But they have a "realistic expectation" of it!!! Doesn't matter.  It's still intensive support.

So, the answer, folks, is YES GW2 is truly overhyped.

There's a rather large difference. The game is $60 worth of entertainment, which is fairly easy to determine in ~10 days worth of playing. Marriage is a bit more expensive, and hopefully lasts a bit longer.

I don't believe there has been any over-hype, just excitement as the stress-tests

come and go and the release date gets closer. When swtor was getting close

to release thats all you saw on these forums for a while, it'll pass and

hopefuly praise will follow soon, instead of  what tortanic did !
