So if you make a generic guy and just skip to the end, make a name, log in and then delete him, is the name saved to your account for any length of time? Don't want to rush making my guy just to get a name i want..
LFD tools are great for cramming people into content, but quality > quantity. I am, usually on the sandbox .. more "hardcore" side of things, but I also do just want to have fun. So lighten up already
I assume so you can come back later, reroll the toon, customise its looks slowly and have the name you want.
Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76) Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe
I would think you can't have 2 guys with the same name in the game or on one account.. So I believe you would need to delete him and make the guy you want saving the name.

wow .. thats impressive .. that someone had the clarity of thought to bother implementing a system like that. kinda a waste of dev time in the grand scheme of things, but impressive at the same time

I would guess its not 24 hours but that once every 24 hours they run a batch job that removes the connection between a character name and the account name if the character has been deleted.
Though maybe they run this batch hourly and record when the toon was deleted *shrugs*

Heh I was thinking the same thing. It is probably just batched to run sometime overnight and dissassociate the connection. I guess that it could be implemented into an hourly job that checked the time since deletion too.
I think the names are taken are across the whole game, not just a server. Otherwise what if you wanted to change to a server that already had that name taken.

Remember... all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more.
why would you delete him?
