You know when people start complaing about lag, and how bad it is at launch, its there first experience with an MMO, Every single big MMO that came out at launch, experienced lag, and was a bit shakey for awhile,  lol, you got prolly over a million users around the world logging and playing at the exact same time. It will get better in probably in the next 24 to 48rs...but then the game officially launches to the public, and BOOM, lag again for abit......you just got your cherry popped, grats big fella....

And there are those of us who think that after a decade of bad MMO releases, and with all the new technology and cash these companies have. they should have figured out how to handle so many people logging in.

Then by all means, go join an MMO gaming company, and show us how it's done.

Imagine that, someone brings up a valid point but because it is in a GW2 forum they get this reply.

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Actually there have been several releases in the last couple years that went exceedingly smoother than this, if you weren't such an MMO virgin you might know that.

One thing is a constant, the retardo fanboi posts defending the poor launch conditions.

already smoothed out.. which other MMO had a "smooth" launch with this many people hammering a single server? possibly swtor which had same issue.. try again

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

LOL you think Rift had even close to the amount of people hammering JQ right now?

So, can we hear about examples of this being done successfully?   Somewhere?  With even barely equivalent numbers?

The assumption of ease must be based on something, right?

If an MMO is playable smoothly in the first week, it's doing pretty well.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Not so , in my experience. Rift had serious networking troubles (at least in my region) for the first 2 weeks or so. I hit sometimes 15 secs lag spikes, specially in the invasions. None of these problems were present in beta. All got smoothed out as i said. I still play rift and enjoy it, btw.

I thought the overflow servers were going to fix this? Or maybe it was the reason behind the last 20 stress tests. It would be nice if you could actually read the official forums without having to buy the game first. The only game I have known to do this was Funcom with AoC so I wonder what Arenanet is hiding?

Hard to commit to a purchase when Arenanet is hiding their forums for people to get a good idea of what the situation is.

    Playing- Guild Wars 2, SWTOR
SWTOR Referral Link Get a free Server Transfer and lots of other free stuff for your SWTOR account! Works for both new and previous players.

overflow keeps people from having to sit in a que.. nothing can solve the issue of  thousands hitting a single server at the same time all in the same area. You can follow them on twiiter or FB though if you want updates on issues

The overflow servers are to remove queuing up on a server. Not to be a failsafe for launch so everyone can log in lag less.

Far as I have been able to tell, there AREN'T any official forums currently active.  I'm logged in on the official site, and I don't see any.

Give it a rest there was lag the first 45 min in and now its over, Jesus you haters will grasp at any straws you can.

I have had more trouble from a WOW Patch than that.

Say what you want about the game itself, but I'm pretty sure SW:TOR had one of the smoothest launches in MMO history.

They started with larger number of servers. It's likely it will go down to pure server numbers and not the server technology in the end. If not, a shame for ArenaNet, people don't forget such failures easily. Look at Funcom.

You loose the function of your legs because the brakes do not work of the car. You sue the company who failed with the brakes and the judge tells you "Then by all means, go join an Car  company, and show us how it's done. " Would that not be great living in a world where companies have absolutly no need to keep in constumers mind .

There are already structures in place like this to prevent this on other places, but it is expensive for just a week or even two. Atleast I think it to expensive, but it can be done none the less.

Who cares if you played an MMO at launch or not... People will still complain. People were complaining like there was no tomorrow when Diablo 3 launched because of all the lag... Of course, no one was defending Blizzard cause everyone hates Blizzard amirite?

Just ignore the whiners, they will forget all about the launch issues in a month or so.

Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.

Well that is because a lot of poeple are stuck at logging in and are hammering the login-servers instead of the game servers :P

If we can have you fanboys posting about how it's the greatest launch ever, we can have people complain since no-one I know from Europe can even log in atm, not even talking lag yet. Making insulting posts about those people is just as dumb as people immediately judging the game on the inevitable launch problems. But that is the GW religion right?

Not actually any discussion topic here, and these forums are super active right now. This thread kind of just turne dinto another server complaint area.
