I started out on Blackgate, Asura Thief. Lag was so bad during combat with everyone rushing same events that the server kept going down over and over and over.
Rerolled on Sanctum of Rall. Much more stable, didnt lag or crash.
But the overflow crap is annoying when your friend isnt in it and you are trying to play together. And the JOIN IN ability gives errors, and when you try to zone in a group it says unable to zone due to internet connection. So you drop group and zone then regroup and realize you both are in seperate zones again! FUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Playing: Smite, Marvel Heroes Played: Nexus:Kingdom of the Winds, Everquest, DAoC, Everquest 2, WoW, Matrix Online, Vangaurd, SWG, DDO, EVE, Fallen Earth, LoTRo, CoX, Champions Online, WAR, Darkfall, Mortal Online, Guild Wars, Rift, Tera, Aion, AoC, Gods and Heroes, DCUO, FF14, TSW, SWTOR, GW2, Wildstar, ESO, ArcheAge Waiting On: Nothing. Mmorpg's are dead.
I was in game for quite some time, then received "Incorrect password" error (WTF? I'm in already logged in!) and was booted out of server. Now can't log back in because auth server seems to be down.
Not a failure but not really smooth either.
MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).
Was playing just fine this morning as well, had to log out to do an errand. Guess I should've just let it stay logged in since the auth server doesn't seem to be responding anymore.
I simply cannot log in - my request doesnt even reach authentication. I heard from my friend who was able to log in really early this morning that the game is laggy as hell.
Not going to score the game on this, but so far ... extremely bad of course. Going back to The Secret World (which had a 10/10 launch) for a while, but itching to try GW2 ( though I don't think I will like the cartoony "little mouse characters" things, but we'll see). I loved gw1 to bits, but have a bad feeling about gw2 - especially now after tsw launch.
Well it started out not bad but as the morning (EU here) progresses it gets worst and worst. Chat channels disappearing, no HOM points recognized, getting booted a lot and then it takes 30 mins or more to get in again. And I am in a big guild, lots of people have the same problems. I know it will get fixed but it sure isn't a smooth launch/headstart
They might should have rolled out early access a batch of people at a time like TSW did to prevent these problems. I used to think it was cheap to open, maintain, or close a new game server as needed but then WOW released operating costs not so long ago that made me question that assumption. I know they likely anticipate demand slacking off after a few days and may be trying to alleviate the need for future mergers by holding off on doing so. The overflow server isn’t cutting it (particularly in Europe right now) so there is a clear and present need. Immediate demand was underestimated.
I play games from the US and I am not currently playing GW2. I am waiting to read opinions on the game here at MMORPG.com before potentially investing in it later this year. However, almost every MMORPG I have played on early release or retail release day has had similar issues. Rift dealt with high demand very well and swiftly, for example, but suffered for catering so readily to players a bit later during mergers. TSW had the issue during peak hours and were very “spartan” about opening new dimensions. SWTOR managed but Diablo 3... need go unmentioned.
ArenaNet and NCSoft are likely considering options right now. Hang in there. I know it can be very frustrating but this isn’t an unusual fail or disaster it’s potentially just a hiccup depending on what they do. I used to hate being disconnected after playing a few minutes the most and that would leave me a little “irrate” internally because new fun is so precious and it was a mean tease. LOL. But keep it in perspective. Star Trek Online was a disaster (remember the fake credit card charges and downtime.) This is just an annoying hiccup "so far. " Give em time.
I played like 3 hours (logged in about half hour after launch).. Auction house (or whatever it was called) didn't work also pretty much all character names were already reserved. Otherwise I didn't notice much lag or other problems. Then around 14:00 (+4 from launch) - game just told me that I have invalid password and crashed me during fight. After that I haven't been able to log back.

A lot of mentioning of TSW. I tried it on a free beta weekend although I've vowed never to give Funcom another dollar after seeing how they had a blatant policy of lying to customers with conan. Let's not even mention the steaming pile that was called AO. I wouldn't be surprised if Funcom has shills frequenting and posting on the gw2 forums. If real people like playing it then fine. But it's not for me.
I'm sure if gw2 will recover from this rocky head start and be solid. I'm looking forward to many hours of playing enjoyment. If for someone unforseen reason gw2 continues to have serious problems (a long shot) and I stop playing it, even then, I'd rather give up gaming forever than play TSW or any other lame egg layed by Funcom.

Yeah same. I managed to kill 2 centaurs on the way to the tavern before the baby woke up and I had to log. Now I can't get in - I guess this is what people meant by there being no end game :P
Serioulsy though, not too stressed. First day teething problems and overloaded servers etc... c'est la vie.
Oh and people comparing these first day problems with their experiences with TSW - TSW had and still has some problems. But I'm not knocking that game either - it's a great game and once this is up and running smoothly I'll be dividing my time between the two.
Originally posted by Reizla Quite the impatient one, posting this 43 seconds AFTER launch aren't we..?
It's 43 minute now after launch and still the same though, but still far from calling it a failure though....I think they should award us some free play time!!!!!
I've only had the error msg when logging in a few times since the servers went up and I created and smoothly played 4 characters for the past 7,5 hours. Not saying there' s no issues but so far nothing that affects my gameplay. The only issues I really noticed are a delay in the chatchannel and the HoM being empty. Other than that I'm sailing smoothly and I'm in EU where there's supposed to be the most issues and on a high pop server so I guess I'm lucky although I didn't hear a friend of mine report any major issues either.
Originally posted by tordurbar Been trying to log in for 20 minutes now (on US Servers) - no luck. Sigh. Typical AAA MMO launch
Pretty much. Anytime so many people are looking forward to a game, this happens.
It's a failure alright, but it's the sort of failure where the companies have to spend so much money to avoid that it doesn't make much financial sense to actually try and avoid it. In a week things will smooth out and no sensible company will spend a crapload of money to thin out the overcrowding that happens in the first few days, only to be left with a lot of redundant hardware and alarmingly lighter wallets after that.

I agree with you, MMOs are not the thing for you.

Been trying to login all morning with no luck. You no when you pay 60 dollras for something you expect to be able to use it. Just pisses me off when companies half ass things like capacity of login servers. The bad news is that this is PRE-Launch. Image how bad it will be when all the non head start people get going.
OMG I told everyone this was fail, but no one would listen. The servers are crushed for most players, the constant server drops to character selection, overflow server switching, error 42xxx firewall settings because the login server is crushed.
I warned everyone if the overgrown lan party that was GW was turned into a true mmo it would fail, when masses of people try it out it buckles under the server load, due to under funded little servers trying to act like big aaa game servers.
That's what it's like to try and enjoy any other game on this site. On a serious note the server load is obviously under alot of strain. But if this was any other game the key board assasins would be out in droves, slaughtering a launch that had these issues.

Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language
1) Its not "launch" yet. its a 3 day head start.
2) YOU does not = 99.9% of players. The hordes of people running around with me doing DEs in various areas think youre full of crap.
