The only thing that could make me happy after paying for a broken head start is if they compensate me with a bunch of gems. I really hope this is something they are thinking about right now...

Um... you aren't exactly paying a sub fee. Whether you play now or 3 months from now, you paid the same price.
The only thing they need to do is fix the issue and get the game/login/servers working, no more, no less.
Eh, I'm not opposed to the idea myself, if this takes much longer.
Fact is those of us what pre-purchased bought this game sight unseen, and one of the rewards we were promised was three full days of playing time before the servers went live.
If it takes more than 24 hours from the official pre-purchase launch point or so, I'd not be opposed to seing a few gems roll out way as compensation. Not a lot, just some token gesture to make up for the lack of working servers.
Headstart is a privelege, not a right and you self-entitled idiots should move along. Apparently not really your type of game. I'd recommend a gameboy or something that doesn't involve other people.
People were crying before the downtime. Would you rather they not fix the issues? Just cry and flame that's all this forum is good for today apparently anyways.

Well, I didn't pay to play 3 months from now. I paid to get 3 days of head start. They're not delivering as advertised, so that means we are entitled to compensation.
If you bought a new car, would you be ok with if it refused to start for the first few hours?

But doubt we will see anything like that, not everyone are Riot Games...

If I drove plenty of other cars and refusal to start was a common problem then no I wouldn't see the issue. Love dumb analogies

Even the best laid plans.....
I don't know about compensating with Gems..
But once folks forked over the money for the pre-purchase it no longer was a privalage and therefore became a right. Since that is what was promised in their advertisements.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to get what you actually paid for. I don't see why one should feel like they are being handed something when they've already forked over the cash..
PM before you report at least or you could just block.

No you didn't. You paid for a game. The headstart cost you nothing extra and in the fine print NOTHING was guranteed. Now what's your excuse?
Seriously, is this ya'lls first MMO? First launch?

OK, stop raging and start thinking for a sec.
Yes, headstart is a privelege. One that we paid for. Most people that pre-purchased the game did so without having played a second of it. We spend $50+ on a gamble. As a thank you, Anet offered us certain things in return. Which they may not be able to deliver on. One of those was the head start.
In essence, it's a social contract. No, we didn't pay specifically for the head start (OK, some of us didn't), but it was promised to the players. IF this takes a substantial amount of time to rectify (in my eyes more than 24 hours from the 12am PST launch time), some sort of concession from Anet would be nice. Gems were the obvious solution. Something like mini-pet or some other silliness would also be OK. Just a way of saying "We know we told you you were going to have X, but we couldn't follow through. We're sorry, take this instead".

I don't think you know what privrlrdge means. With your logic if I go to Mcdonalds and order a combo meal the fries are a privelege/. No, I was told that if I pay so much money I will get a burger, fries, and drink.

Haha I will bite on this one....not our type of game. . you mean one we can play? I don't see how the complaint has anything to do with gameplay. Also it is a right not a privilage. We were told if we prepurchased we would get 3 days. Based on your argument any downtime in the future is fine because playing the game when the company says it will be available is a privilage.
Seriously, I generally agree with you but this post was just trolling at its worste.
As far as the OP goes I think it would be smart on their part. First it is a great good will gesture. Second, and most importantly, it will get people into the store. . Why do you think they are giving that stupid baseball hat away free. . .to get people into the store. I wouldn't go in th get the hat but if I got some free gems I would likely check it out. Most cash shop based games (thinking mobile or facebook) offer your first buy in at a graetly reduced price so you break that threshhold. I think it would be smart.
The only thing they need to do is fix the issue and get the game/login/servers working, no more, no less.
Not that I could care if any compensation is given, but....
Hundreds of thousands of players from around the world will become a part of MMO history when Guild Wars 2 launches at 12:01 AM Pacific time on August 28, 2012.But as a Pre-Purchase customer, you're entitled to three days of Headstart Access – starting right now!
Your Headstart Access has begun, so log in, create your character, and experience the wonders of Tyria three full days before the rest of the world!
Originally posted by lasa The only thing that could make me happy after paying for a broken head start is if they compensate me with a bunch of gems. I really hope this is something they are thinking about right now...
Wow, really someone is actually posting this!!!
I really hope that You ask for a refund and stop playing This MMO right now!
I understand that you feel like ANet owe you, but you can always just get a refund. Or sue ANet for your money back. I hope you seriously do.
They never once posted or stated that Launch will be the smoothest thing ever, or promised you that there will be no problems.
They did all the Stress Tests to ensure that it will be smooth, yet never promise that it will be.
You are the kind of customer that as a Sales Person I actually turn away and take the hit on the sale for. Because any further progression would just result in more anguish.
If a company did everything they could to ensure access but unforseen problems occurs, then it occurs, as long as they are fixing it then they are doing it right. If they given up then I will be on an Uproar to get compensation. But it seems they are working dilligently trying to get everyting back in order. So whats so wrong about that?? Don't you want them to get it working?

We're a good long way from 24 hours of downtime for the majority of folks. Even for the EUs who have had prblems from the very beginning.
The only thing they need to do is fix the issue and get the game/login/servers working, no more, no less.

They gave everyone the option to pre-purchase and receive some in game items and a 3 day head start, and guess what, at 5am (UK) this morning, they gave EVERYONE that did pre-purchase exactly what they paid for.
They did not guarentee that anyone would (or could) have access to the servers for 72 uninterrupted hours (and I bet if you actually read the ToS and/or EULA, they state that service may be interrupted and you agree that it is fine by accepting those documents), they just said you would get a 3 day head start, and you have had it.
Bitch and moan if you really feel the need, but facts are facts, you got what you paid for, they owe you nothing else.

Welcome to the genre. Check the history of mmo launches. You should have expected possible downtimes. Those that doesnt believe these issues are acceptable WAIT a month before they buy it.

yes, but if they mess up your order, they will make another of your original order so that you get what you paid for. Buf if you don't want it, they give you money back. Unless you are a dick and ate the messed up order then tell them they messed up so that you can get a free order. ( i have seen it happen )
So ask for a refund if you feel you aren't getting your 3 days headstart.
But don't expect anymore than what you put in.
Feeling like Anet owe you anything is just sad, it happened during SWTOR, It happened during WOW. I was never hit, guess i am lucky. But still reading it every time a game goes live is just sad.
I wasn't in TSW but it happened there as well, same with TERA. Its all in the history of their forums. Just look, there will always be people whom can't log in, can't get the game to work.

This is only the bonus which they're trying to give you for your pre-purchase and people are QQing like there's no tomorrow..
BTW, GW1 just got back up online, so GW2 should be back up soon...
