NO.. Valua The prices have not changed...I have been buying games since my first Atari 520ST , and my first 8086 IBM PC in the early 1980s. They have always been priced around the $50.00 mark or even higher..
Read and learn. You actually must be pretty young however to believe what you are saying..
It is more than worth it if you're looking for an action focused MMO.
Although I followed GW2 develpment with interested I'm not a MMO player. I played some MMO's but I always get bored quickly and I just don't find the gameplay fun.
Now obviously no game is perfect and I'm sure some people won't enjoy GW2 but to put it simple this is the best MMO I have ever played.
It has so many content, great balance, good quests and so on.
It is the new MMO to go and it will take the rains from the now very old WoW.
There is no other subscription based or F2P MMO that is as good as Guild Wars 2.
Consider this. For $54.99 you have the best MMO in the market with no subscription fees. A game that you can come and play a bit whenever you feel like it. The replay value is huge since you get so many choices you can take. You have PVE, PVP, WvW and so much more stuff to do if you get into a guild and so on.
We pay $50 for good games that we know that will give us about 10 hours of gameplay. If you play computer games there is no reason not to give GW2 a shot.
Everything's relative. If you decide between GW2 and your daily bread - certainly no, not worth it. If you decide between GW2 and (for example) D3 - hell, yeah.
MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).
I'm not the game's biggest fan, and despite taking off Monday and Tuesday to have time to play the headstart (I needed a vacation anyway) I've only put in maybe 3-4 hours a day. However, since there is no monthly subscription I can easily recommend it for purchase. There is so much variety from the character creation through the starting areas for each race that this game is certainly worth the initial purchase. I'm having a hard time enjoying it as an MMORPG because I still prefer the very short Ultima Online branch of MMORPGs over the much much longer EQ Branch, but the game is solid like WoW was and it will provide at least 50-100 hours of entertainment if you like these types of games.
I bought Digital Deluxe, and so far I've gotten 30-40 hours of fun out of the game and can easily see much more onthe horizon. For me, it was more than worth it.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre

LOL I remember those days :-) I paid 67.99 for Super Empire Strikes Back for SNES at Babbages - ended up beating it that same night. I was digusted
Launch smoothness may be at about 6/10 or 7/10, but the gameplay and everything IN the game is certainly a 9/10 or so.
Might want to wait a week or so OP, for the dust to settle, but def. worth 60$
