Originally posted by Syno23 It's weird because the hearts at level 35 only give 1200 XP. Takes forever to complete them this level 25 zone gives me 1000 XP plus mobs every 7 minutes. Only XP in WvW can compare to that.
On the other hand, if you have completed a whole map, you'll get some good stuff (and gear) that can be used on the next level map...
edit: Also, you'll have gained NOTHING from LvL 80. No new experiences, no fun. Just tristesse.

I have to disagree. you do gain a lot as a higher level. you get access to all skills and traits which are locked by level.
and events at higher level are way more interesting than lower level.
lets not forget the access to dungeons as well which are level locked.
levels are a big restriction in this game in terms of access to fun. I cant blame people for wanted to level pass these restrictions as soon as possible.
I should have elaborated:
IF YOU STAY IN ONE SPOT TILL LEVEL 80 [ ... ] you'll have gained NOTHING from LvL 80. No new experiences, no fun. Just tristesse. [ ... ] JUST YOUR SKILLS AND TRAITS WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE HOW TO USE THEM IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS.
Also, we're talking about a player here that wants to farm a single event up to LvL 80. I don't think this fellow even plans on doing the story missions or instances.
So the exploit problem is not really a problem... problem solved?
Granted, ANet said they were looking into the level 80 character who gained by crafting with guild gathered materials but that probably has more to do with not wanting to hurt the economy, not the leveling curve. I'll admit, I'd love to have more skills unlocked and dungeons to run but I'll be getting to the same content in the end. The level really makes no difference to me.

No...honestly that's not true. You can simply learn your skills afterwards in PvP or however you want to. The skills aren't complex. A fool could figure out the best skills for certain situations in this game.
Some people (including me, but I haven't exploited anything) really don't care for PvE. I'm honestly in it for purely the PvP. I was a big fan of DAoC and GW1, so naturally that's gonna be the case. People do what they think is the most fun for them. Not everyone likes cheesy linear game stories and pixelated environments (just a bunch of textures and fancy filters/glows). If I wanted a story, I would read Song of Ice and Fire (which I am). For MMO's, I'll stick with PvP.
But I still respect those who do enjoy those things. And everyone else should respect the people rushing to 80 as fast as they can. To each their own.
Originally posted by Kaledus It surprises me that no one has mentioned crafting as a way of getting XP.. From what I heard, you get a crapload from it. After all, the first level 80 spotted was a crafter if that wasn't obvious. xD
Well its fast when your guildmates are farming your mats.
I do see it as a way to powerlevel alts in the future but kinda defeats the purpose.. miss all the fun but maybe for a WvW alt that I just want @80 with all traits/skills unlocked.
I knew this OP was going to be looking to stir the pot from his very first post. You have here a WoW, Rift, TSW, or TOR fanatic that is bored with his current game and looking to start a fight.
If you truly enjoy playing the game, you wouldn't be looking for exploits... or even see someone at level 80 as an exploiter... I for one am only level 22 after 3 days of playing. 10 hours of game time per day... and still only a level 22. If you want to race to 80, all the power to you, but damn you are missing out on everything if you do. Totally missing the point of the game. Totally wasting your $60. But I guess people have money to piss out the window... sub-based games prove that, hands down.
I'll let you guys in on a little secret: level 80 in Guild Wars 2 isn't a big deal. You'll still be my level when you're in my zone
If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.
What is the point of being lvl 80 if you didn't do any skill challenges to unlock skills? Either way you going to have to do them and you get scaled to that level. Might as well hit up all the zones and do them while levelling up.
Ya, I noticed this when I completed the Sylvari starter zone and moved over to the Asura starter zone to play with a friend. I was just completely out leveling everything. BUT, everything still felt as dangerous due to having my stats pushed down to the same level of the area but I did have more tools to beat a specific encounter so I am sure it was much easier.
MMOs Played: I can no longer list them all in the 500 character limit.
Yea but you are missing the rewards for clearing out a map area, the exp and money is very much worth it. Not to mention all the skill points you will be missing out on. At level 36, I have 50 something skill points. You do not if you just level up on the same event.
Also as some have pointed out the Karma rewards from each heart get better and better as you get higher and higher. I am using alot of Karma gear currently at lvl 36.
Last but not least by not exploring you are not gathering crafting items and missing out on the equipment upgrade stones you get from havesting nodes.
Remember when people mentioned "sandboxy" elements in the game? THIS is that element. You are totaly free to level as you like. Yes, you can even do that "water pump" level all the way from 1 to 80 level. It is not an exploit. The game just work that way.

That actually costs alot of materials, and alot of gold.
With the Tradepost down, you have to be fed by every member of your 250 Guild members who play it normally to get that high in level that quickly.
I am armorsmith 115 and I can only do crafting after a long session of PVE, because of the lack of materials.
So its not really an exploit, its just a very fed Individual.
Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it.
I went from level 1 to level 80 just by zoning to the mists! They really need to fix that exploit before it ruins the enjoyment of these DE campers rushing to 80!
This is why, the day Guild Wars 2 was announced, my thoughts on it were something to the effect of, I bet they can't get dynamic events to work right. In the beta, people just want to play the game and mess around, so everything seems wonderful. Once the game goes live, people are trying to break the events in order to farm or level as quickly as possible. That means that a ton of issues show up when the game goes live that didn't appear in the beta.
Thus, the first several months of live are effectively the real beta. You might think that's true of most MMORPGs, but in most cases, it's only a problem of the game being released before it's ready. With Guild Wars 2, it's intrinsic to the nature of dynamic events.
Originally posted by Syno23 Dynamic Events give too much XP and hearts are worthless. I don't understand why all events aren't equal. I'm level 45 still leveling on a 15 zone. Exploits.
It's, sadly, a feature put in for the people who think' grinding to 'end-game' so they can grind gear' for years is the be-all and end-all of MMOs.

Uh, I think you might be mistaken here. Skill challenges award a skill point, so does leveling. You don't need them at all from what I can tell.
Gotta hand it to NCSoft , when it comes to boring grinding MMO's , they deliver! GW2 , what a joke. And here I thought STO was the easiest game ever to level up in , I'm now wrong thanks to GW2. And for those that thinks that a MMO these days isn't about leveling up and grinding end game stuff , boy are you sure wrong. MMO's has lost meaning in the fantasy department YEARS ago , and it's not GW2 that is going to bring it back , not with everyone hitting level cap inside of the first week of release. Good thing I haven't wasted 60$.

lol, this game is not about farming XP, ur missing the entire game and all the fun farmin the same place, [mod edit]
Maybe his type of fun is to rush to max level and then go and complain on the forums that there is nothing to do. I see people doing nothing but rushing through this game, it definitely looks like the gameplay of MMO's is to hit max level as fast as possible. I'll give an example of this game:
You know how you can uncover a Vista and have a nice panoramic view of a part of a town or area you're questing in. I noticed that I'm the only person that actually stops to look at those, everybody else just jumps on and immediatly jumps off. Don't even know if you can call this phenomenon "PVE Locust" because these people don't even stop to "look" at the content they're doing. Mind boggling excrement.

You are not alone, I too stop and look when I get them.
The views are just fantastic, the work they put in to get the world looking the way it is, its just mind boggling.
The Vistas gives you a view of the area that you can't normally see, and its in Real Time that means its not just a pre-loaded image, I actually see people running around while the view is moving trying to get to the vista.

(Not directed at you or anyone specifically. Just the general stand of some people complaining about a game they refuse to actually play.)
Level doesn't mean anything lol. You get to level 80 doing starter zone DE's if you want but... you wont have gear for your level, you wont have much in the way of funds, you won't have your skill challenges done. You will still be down leveled in PvE areas. Everyone else is already level 80 in pvp. So what have you achieved? Nada lol.

They did this in beta, too.
Here is another Exploit,
There is a Cow Catapult in the Charr Leveling zones. You get to bet 50 silver to see where the cow lands, its a chance of 1/4 that you will win.
And you get to bet 3 times when its offered, its a quick 1Gold 50 silver win, then you can go to the Cow Race, and you get to bet 25 silver each time.
And the event resets pretty quickly so easy money.
Unless you lose then you will be poor, but with the help of 250 guildmates, you can play it every day.
