Help Me Understand

MaxmmoMaxmmo Member Posts: 10

i have been playing MMO's since the late 90's and i am bit confussed with Guild Wars 2.

Whats the point of having a guild in GW2? There is no guild content. Now if you count dynamic events as such its a cluster f**k. There is no way to comunicate with one another unless you are using Ventrillo and thats only good for your group or your guild. This seems to be worse than being on a raid with players that dont listen.

To me the point of a guild is to gather a huge number of like minded players and working together at the same time to acomplish a goal ( dungeons ). This brings me to my daily planner i have had to set up to be able to play with my guild mates due to only being able to play with 4 other people at a time.  i had to let jack and jill know that i can schedual a time to play with them next week hoping they will be on that day. This aspect of what people expect from an MMO. it means Massive Multi-Player Online game. Well thats kinda hard with only 4 other people i can play with at a time.

There are a lot of games that have been dumbed down to compete with WoW over the years. GW2, in my opinion, takes the cake with players being able to scale to max level for PvP content. Now dont get me wrong, its fun, its fair, but where is the challenge? What's the point????

What is the point? where is the challange??

EQ 1 players you remember when you got your Epic weapon and how it made you feel? You worked your butt off. Other players in your guild worked their butt off to help you and you them. Doing the same dungeon over and over may get repitive and a bit boring but when you are the only GUILD on the server thats was flaged for a specific zone before any other GUILD you knew you worked your butt to the bone, and you had the respect of other guilds. What's that you say? You dont have the time to be a hardcore gamer well hell i say not everyone is you. This is an MMO right ?

GW2 is not a bad game. i dont think its Game of the Year. it should hold my attention till EQ next or another game that has guild content launches.

i truly belive if GW 2 added Guild content it would hold everyone's attention Add player housing, guild housing and mounts. Stop seling ridiculous stuff on the cash shop like sunglasses and boxing gloves.

i know not every game is going to satisfy every person but why name a game Guild Wars 2 when there is NO GUILD CONTENT??

On Topic: Well there will be guild halls and there are guilds and they do take part of WvWvW and Spvp(tournys). Though I believe the name is from lore.

Off topic: Lol I'm sorry I did laugh a little bit(ok a lot) I'm just putting a samuel jackson voice while reading the OP, and in my mind it was really hilarious.

I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

P2P LOGIC = If it's P2P it means longevity, overall better game, and THE BEST SUPPORT EVER!!!!!(Which has been rinsed and repeated about a thousand times)

Common Sense Logic = P2P logic is no better than F2P Logic.

We will introduce player housing at some point after launch, and at that time we will also implement guild halls.

Playing with the guild upgrades is fun, and seems to add alot to the guild dynamic.

And what do you mean, only being able to play with 4 people? The more of you there are, the bigger the event becomes - you dont need to be grouped. Just take your 4 friends, and jack n jill, and get them all to come along with you and do some events!

Guild chat is super useful for when you're running around as a big group, either in WvW or the more involved (Generally later, or meta-event) DEs.  Lets you coordinate even past groups of 5.

i like to be able to have a voice chat when doing a raid or an event so people understand whats going on and i am not having to stop  doing dmg or my job to type to another player.  not haveing a voice chat is honestly very sad for a new MMO.

Actually in-game voice chat is sad in pretty much every implementation I have ever seen.  That is the reason Mumble, Vent and Team-Speak are as popular with raiders, as it is.  So not sure why you would want Anet to spend dev-time doing the same.  Also not sure why in-game chat would be preferable to the several availiable third-party options out there, but thanks for your opinion.

    Really?

Guild Wars 2 and all they have planned are player houses, which doesnt relate to guild content and guild halls...which sounds like EQ2 style guild player housing...

    GTFO....

Really im serious...not even planned guild seiges or any other entertaining guild vs guild content?

    /facepalm

i am really trying to get into this game lvl 35 and i feel i am doing all i can to log back into this over hyped game thats tryng to be an MMO. I Guess its just not for me and thats ok i hope others can enjoy the game and get there money worth from it, it just feels like such a slap in the face to me, i do not know how else to explain it.  Maybe once they fix some of the issues  in a few months ill give it another go around.

The name is just a carry over from the first game which was originally planned to concentrate on PvP in more of a battlemap type format.  The PVE was just a way to level up your character.  You even had to go through a pvp battleground in order to get out of the beginner area in the original.  Turns out people were more interested in a PVE and story driven approach so the original morphed and the sequel just kept the brand name and built some lore around the "Guild" in the name.
