How many people have quit?

EXSpankyEXEXSpankyEX Member Posts: 12
How many people, like myself, were pretty serious MMORPG players who were excited with Guild Wars release and then quit because I had to high expectations for it.  I thought that since it was based on PvP and there were a few points of the game that would be great like not having to fly/ride an animal from town to town when you can just click on the map and "teleport" there.  I quit withing a week or two of gameplay...  Just didn't appeal to me, so my question is how many people quit guildwars after playing for a very short time?

I can't say that I'm bored of GuildWars, because it's still very fun.
Though I'm moving over to WorldofWarcraft after my end of year exams. GuildWars is great and all, and I'll never stop playing it. But there is something in WoW that is pulling me (I'm currently using a mates account when hes not using it). Guild Wars will stick with me for awhile longer.

I played since the WPE and all all the betas. I quit a couple weeks after release. I just could not "fell" the game. Since then I moved into Lineage 2, and now Irth.

A beggar's brother died, but the man who died had no brother.

    How could this be?

How many people will come back after EVERY patch and expansion pack?

Since you don't "pay-to-play" by not playing your are saving arena net money on bandwidth. Their dream player is one that buys the game plays for a week and quits... costs them very little in resources. IF that same person buys an xpack later and comes back... great. If not they already made their money once.

Since Anet isn't treating their clients badly their is a good chance that every xpack they release will make them money. If xpacks don't fly they can try advertising in game, or merchandising, or simply shut the game down.

So in answer to your question... I think A lot of people quit. I also think many of those people will come back for a week or two at some point in the future. It's the same as Diablo II... which still has lots of people playing and a huge ebay market. Every new patch or ladder season brings people back as others leave.

i believe so , looks like an amazing game ... im trying to get in with 14 days acount , but first atemp failed , file currupted ... anyway , i was making a joke  , since guildwars is not number one anymore , wow players dont need to flame it ... still wow is 3rd in the rank ...

on topic , all i can say is , im going to play guildwars for 3 years minimum ... maybe not for so many hours as i do now , but i will go in time to time , and enjoy my favorite game atm.

guildwars sold 1 milion and is going to start selling in taiwan and japan. later more coutrys will join ... this thread should be named as ..

I played the 14 hours free trial thingy for GW, and I did not like it one bit. Being a Ex-WoW, Ex-AO player, I like a lot of socialization, I did not find ANY in GW. Its like this, you go in a city, and all you see is people spamming to buy/sell items and BUTT LOADS of persoanl shops. Thats about it. No one even talks in game ... was a very sad game ....

Mate as I'm concerned there's no thing called: "14 HOURS FREE TRIAL" in GuildWars. so can you tell what the hell you talking about ? Seems you didnt played the game. I'm playing for long time GuildWars and never heard somthing like that, and I'm pretty updated with things going on in GuildWars (World Championship for instance, the new sound package, sorrow's furnace (not so new right now))... Well if you have something bad to say about the game do it, but do it with honor. Dont try to simulate that you played the game to excuss your review. Thank you.

there is a 10 hour - 14 day trial in ATI webpage ...

people dont talk cose they want to get that high level and reach that far away town ... but i can tell you after you pass the stress zone , people actualy talk and rp ... normaly outside towns after a good farming or long quest ... the all chat zone is normaly for trade and grouping , chating and rp you do on team chat zone. so you will have to wisper if you want more then a sword or a group to quest . Like many people say and i agree , this game starts at lvl 20 .. so playing the free 10 hour acount wont show you what the game is ...

i played AO fo 2 months , boring , farming alone in a junkyard .. wth .. why is that such a good mmorpg ? yes people are nice , but with lvl 150 . i cant even go questing with them ...

I quit :). Guild Wars just doesn't have the magic. Sorry.

The reasons we don't flame EVE:

    1. It's a real MMORPG

    2. It DOES have the magic.

My guess is the magic is community. And what you do matters to your community.

~sighs~ The people who quit are mostly the people who did not read up on the game.

Those people who say "This is not an MMORPG" or complain about the instancing are idiots for buying the game. It's their fault, not the games.

You can find so much info on the game LONG before it's release. The instancing was known for a very long time, including the fact that it's not an MMORPG. Anyone who bought the game and was surprised about those facts deserved to waste their time and money. I did my homework on the game. I don't just go to a store and say "Oh my God, this game looks cool! I'm going to get it!" As I know many people did with Guild Wars.

I went to the websites, checked message boards, LOOKED AT THE BOX BEFORE I BOUGHT IT, I got some opinions from the beta testers, I found out all I could about the game before buying it so I was absolutely sure I wouldn't be wasting money. I really like this game because it's different. Not because it jumped on the bandwagon like WoW did, it created it's own bandwagon, which other companies will be riding on in the future.

What Anet did with this game was truly inspiring. Other companies will do it too, but they will learn and evolve from what Guild Wars did, making a much better game then Guild Wars but keeping the key elements of what makes the game great.

I don't know about you guys, but getting ganked by a 12 year old named Gulstaff The Great once I leave town is not my idea of having fun. Who cares if it's instanced? Are you really so in love with the way you can walk outside and see people killing the same monsters you've been killing for the last hour? Is it really so fun to walk by people you'll hardly talk to? Because I don't know about you but I don't talk much during battles unless it's strategy, I've ALWAYS seen most people talk in town where they won't get mobbed.

A lot of people forget the fact that although it's easy to level up in Guild Wars, it's also easy to get tons of money in WoW. When people complain about only having 8 skils in combat, it sickens me. In most games where I had ALL my skills and spells, I usually became more confused during combat because I don't know which ones to use. In GW I loved the 8 skills system. Made me think strategically and less confused. And why complain about the community?

I've met some damn good people in this game. I've met nothing but pricks and 12 year old 1337 speakers in WoW. People say that because this game is free that younger people are attracted to it. But you're half wrong. A lot of WoW players moved to Guild Wars, most of them 12-15 year old idiots, and once they figured out that there is no ultra 1337 sword of ultimate destruction to make them better then everyone else, they quit. Or once they figured out they can't go outside and kill someone for no reason while saying "ROFLMFAO! pwned n00blet! 101!!!!!111"

Some of them endured though and stayed. Deal with it. I've met very few rude players in this game. Either you're attracting idiots or you have badluck.

So will people PLEASE stop complaining about every single little detail. It's Anets first game as a team, and so far they've showed more love and dedication to their game then any game I've EVER SEEN. They're doing great things for this game, and with it's original release the game has been tweaked, modified, adjusted, new things have been added, quests changed, awesome events held, stuff given away for free like the Sorrow's Furnace expansion and music. I don't know about you people, but I respect that.

I haven't played this game in two weeks. Not because I'm bored, but because I've got other things to do. But each time when I start playing it again I get obsessed for a good week or two then I stop playing for awhile again. That's the beauty of this game. You have new obligation towards it besides just to enjoy it when you want to.

If you guys can't stand that, then don't play. Simple as that. It sucks so hard when so many people fail to see what this game has actually accomplished. Really sad indeed.

If you were able to read this without getting a headache, congrats, you're a real gamer. If you complained about it being too long, then damn read a book. After so long it'd do you some good.

I bought GW, but i didnt inform myself about the game. All I knew was MMORPG and PvP, exactly what i was looking for... i thought!

Then I found out about the Instance thing and even worse... no PK! PK is the most important thing to me in a MMORPG. I don't want PvP where I or my oponent have to accept the duel to make it possible, i want it to be possible at any time, at any level, at any place, without the need from my opponent to confirm the fight. So yes it was completely my fault that I bought it, and in fact i quit it before i even started it... in total I didnt play this game for more than 30 minutes, after I found out those issues.

This is my opinion, and it's ridiculous that all players who like real PvP without any restricions are considered 13 year old "I ownz u n00b" kiddies. I don't want to be IMMUNE to other players, nor do I want them to be immune. I want them to fear me and I also want to fear them. It's boring not to have to fear anyone, because you're immune.

Of course there is a lot of ganking in such games, but thats it, that's life... that's "reality". And it's not only about ganking, but people who dont like this kind of FFA PvP tend to reduce such games to that aspect... "ganking... ganking... uhm... ganking!". I play WoW PvP now, and I would just die of boredom on a PvE server.
