Eve online
Guild Wars
and World of warcraft
and ive also played FFXI
I first learned about MMORPGS playing Dii because I asked around and I heard about MMORPG's and they seemed like a really fun way to play but the 4 games that ive tried aren't really that fun...
any suggestions?
I can play maybe an hour or two a day sometimes a lil more
I don't like to sit in the same area and kill the same monsters over and over and over and over just to get 1 level
and have to stay tehre for the next 4 levels(cough FFXI)
I LOVE the concept of DII with the items how you could find so many different types of items
rune words etc
any suggestions are appreaciated
thx for your time.

well in anygame really u have to sit around the same area to lvl , an most games have differnt items to use an collect. u could try planetside, differnt but time consuming( battles could last for hrs, so i guess that wouldnt be what ur looking for) or u could try SoR, never tryed it but hear its one of the best

Saga of Ryzom, while definitely the game with the deepest skill system, still suffers from the elements you [the original poster] mentioned. You're basically stuck in one of a few zones until you're big enough to move on. Additionally, there's really not much loot to speak of; there's plenty of crafting material to gather from bodies, but you won't be finding much weaponry or armor.
As far as loot goes, there's no beating Asheron's Call 1, but, again, you'll find yourself spending hours or days in the same dungeons. All MMOs do technically have a variety of places you can go at each stage in your career, and AC's world is huge, but there really are only a few "ideal" areas when it comes to gaining experience; by nature of the games, most people tend to flock to those areas. Also, nearly all MMOs are built with long levels in mind. The games with easily achievable levels are primarily the ones you've tried (though EVE really isn't a game about levels at all). From what I've read, Shadowbane gets you up and running pretty quickly in order to get you to the PvP content, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.
Really, MMOs might not be for you, or at least the current crop might not be for you. These games are really more about the journey than the destination. If you don't like the leveling up process, you're going to find a lot of disappointment in the MMO genre. The one game that's really different in that regard is EVE, but that apparently wasn't to your taste, either. WoW is the most casual-friendly game on the market at the moment (until the endgame, at which point everything turns on its head) and you could get nearly all of your levels from quests in that game, but you didn't enjoy that. If you enjoyed Diablo 2, you might consider the old "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" motto. There's a reason "grind" and "treadmill" are widely used terms by MMO players, and that reason is because they're currently the backbone of the industry.
Why not try mmorpgs that fall into the DII type game? There are pleanty of them. You see most of the top games are all 3D, and usally 3D games focus alot on looks.
I suggest you look (might take awhile) through the games list. One I think of when u mention DII is Dragon Raja. I have not tested it so I cannot say if its good. BUT the good side is its FREE to dl, and play.
I would normaly suggest anyone to play EQ2, but since you are looking for something like DII then I dont think its what you want.
Funny... I never stay i the same spot long in EVE.
Yeah... the whole point is really to grind (which is stay in the same spot and kill the same mob) over and over in all MMOGs... it's how the games are designed.

"When people tell me designing a game is easy, I try to get them to design a board game. Most people don't last 5 minutes, the rest rarely last more then a day. The final few realize it's neither fun nor easy."
if the game wasn't designed otherwise it would just end after the first day..
or be so damn big that you would NEVER see anothe player. EVER!"
Cheers!
We shall all die in vain.. you decide how!
I liked World of warcraft for the first 2 weeks then it got boring. Eve online is really cool if you have time to play and guild wars well is just guild wars.

youve tried tried three mmos in three different areas of mmorpgs.
if you dont like one of those then you shouldnt be playing mmo's. especially if you only have an hour a day.
well im currently playing gulid wars its alright
the thing that i did'nt like WoW was that everytime I went to do a quest some high lv character would just kil me and think hes l33t or some crap
EVERYWHERe i went i would just get killed maybe it was just that particular expierence on the PvP server, but I felt like i did'nt have the chance to even pvp becaues higher lvs camped and killed lower lvs i ended up stopping at lv 27 on daggerspine realm
Eve just is way too lonely theres a little chat box next to your ship and thats the only form of identity you have with anyone
you never see anyone really... atleast thats what i got out of the 1st month of playing it
so pretty much im just playing guild wars right now, i just wanted to seek for a new rpg before i finish with guild wars because to much dismay i have learned that the max level is only 20 lol
note: idon't think leveling fast was that big of a problem in Dii I loved that game and it took me maybe 5 hours to get to lv 80ish yet it was still a great game and I would have to say many others thought so too
