Trading Post

NewmoonNewmoon Member UncommonPosts: 126

It came up for me and a few others, while others could not bring it up. I noticed thousands of buy orders and a few thousand sells, so it's come up for quite a few people. I had it up long enough to snatch 100 carrots and lemons cheap (but I ain't touching onions at 90c each:P)

I tried to dump all my leather/ore/ingots/wood and it crashed on me. Keep checking between quests, you may be one of the lucky ones.

You know, I'm a big fan of crafting, but I find myself not missing having the trading post . I sell things just fine. I kinda feel like a traveling merchant. It's unexpectedly fun.

But, no. Post has not come up for me

I think it's getting ridiculous at this point and needs to be addressed by Arenanet. I mean seriously addressed not some canned "we are aware and working on it".

100% agreed.  The game is completely lacking economy.  There is no safety net in the current method of trading, and the trading post has been down for six consectutive days.

inb4 OH BUT YOU CAN PLAY THE GAME

No I can't.  I cannot play the part of the game I want to play.

Yeh, it's more than slightly annoying now... I love playing AH and crafting and the tradepost being down is just ARGH

From the times article posted today regarding the Trading Post:
How’s server stability at this point?

In general the game has been holding up very well and the servers are running great, even under launch stress. We did have to take some things down, like the Trading Post, which as you know has been offline for a while. That’s because, as players started hitting it, we had capacity issues, and we wanted to make sure it’s in really good shape, because it’s such an important part of the game — it needs to work well. Behind the scenes, we’ve got a lot of brilliant people working on that software, and they’ve identified where players ran into capacity constraints, and we’re testing and testing and testing to make sure we get that fixed.

Just my opinion but auction houses kinda ruin part of the community imho.

Cant tell you the countless hours ive spent in GW1 trade channels selling my spoils.

Yeah well if someone would have had the forethought to include a Trade Channel......

Or maybe introduce one as a temporary measure till they get the Trading Post fixed....

I would settle for a C.O.D. feature on the mail, or proper player to player trading...

Either of those and I would be set.

So...are you suggesting they aren't working on it and it's some massive conspiracy to keep the Trading Post down? Or...do you think it's more likely that they ARE working on it, but it's taking a bit longer than expected. And oh, they're probably prioritizing fixes with their resources spread thinner than they would normally be. Pick the one you think seems the most reasonable.

    The trading post is up.

Trading Post is working for me right now, but it might stop again, and we can't even trade because the Mail system isn't working either.  They probably wish they had player to player trading now. lol.

One of the reasons they didn't use trading player to player was because of gold selling. They already discussed their reasons of why they chose a mailing system over trade system and the drawbacks of going this route. They didnt go into making that design decision blind as a bat if that was what you are implying.

Lol quit being a crybaby. If you cant put your things on the market go do something else until you can. There are plenty of things to do and were in day 2 of its launch. Shut the flux up. Jesus Avery Christ.

Because gold sellers can't mail coin, right?

It easier for ANET to stop gold selling through a mailing system derp

How is it easier?  Can you explain this in detail?

I would think a system to track coin exchanged through mails is just as easy to log coin exchanged through trades.  And then you ban the gold seller either way.

    so yeah, "derp" indeed.

I'd much rather see them fix the grouping issues first then they can tackle the trading post.

I am guessing the system for tracking mail was already put in. I am guessing it would not be crazy hard to apply it to a trade system but it seems unnessary. Mailing does the same thing but knows less limits than tradition tade windows.

Oh ok.  So when I mail an item to someone expecting him to send his item in exchange, and I don't ever recieve it because he scammed me, that's the same thing but less limits, right?

An OPTION to have a trading window really isn't so bad.  If you don't like it, mail!

Lol anybody can trade gold, that's the problem. I can walk up to you and trade you gold for no reason and you would probably accept it if it were a large amount. So how do you track this? How do you determine which trades are legit and which are from gold sellers as far as anyone is concerned its just gold moving through the economy. Atleast with mail You can see the sender and it's easier to keep track of. Personal P2P trades aren harder to keep track of and are a waste of server space. Mail is retained until the player deletes it and even then it is still retained.

    So....yeah "derp"
