If you're on the fence about buying GW2 don't be put off by some of the negativity on these forums.  I'm waiting for a month or two down the road to give a full reveiw but so far I have to say that this is truely a hell of a game and I'm having more fun in GW2 then I've had in any MMO since my very first encounter with the genre.   A couple days ago I checked the forums and couldn't believe some of the things I was seeing,  after which I thought that it couldn't be just me that was loving it so much so I sort of made it a mission to ask in-game how people were liking GW2 so far in each area I was in. I tell you completely honestly theat I rarely heard anything less then "Amazing" "So much fun" or "best mmo i've ever played"

I fully believe that everybody's entitled to their own opinions but after reading through some of the posts on the forums it honestly seems as if their posts either point to them having never step foot into the game (As in saying things that are just plain false about it)  or completely baseless comments (accusations that they are completely unable to back up with any evidence or examples) If you're one of these people I urge you to tell me why you don't like the game with intelligent responses about why it's bad aside from the launch hickups that'll be straightened out in 2 or 3 days because I Really want to know.

This isn't to say that there aren't real people with real problems and concerns, there certainly are.. I just don't see them as the majority. I know that people almost want to see GW2 fail, I just don't understand why.

If WoW was released today even in its' entirety it would be f2p in 3 months.
Why is it still such a big deal?

Satement not true. I love GW2, but the reason why or when I'm here, is because I'm at work :P Otherwise I'm in Tyria

    +1

MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).

Why do I have to like the game so bad that I can not take a break to discuss it with the outstanding people over on these boards?

It so happens I do like it and I am posting. Even if I didn't though my complaints and comments would be just as valid.

Or perhaps because I'm a night owl and maintainance happens at 12am pst, and i'm tired of the chocobo's hot & cold game in FF9. >.<

Ive been following the game and played each BWE. Havent played the released game yet due to holiday issues, but over the course of these months ive noticed 3 groups of people with a negative view about GW2:

    1) Havent played the game but have issues with the cash shop, the company, the game itself or want to do some retaliation to perceived attacks on another game i do like. Some are honest and admit they havent played it , some lie.

    2) Its not my type of game (im more into fps, sandbox , progression pvp or whtever...) but i have heard so many good things about it that ive tried anyway. I found out at the end of the day it was still a (fantasy mmo/different kind of themepark/no gear reward based game.... ) which i hate, so i am disappointed with it all and blame the hype-

    3) I knew what i was getting into and i honestly wanted to like it...it was just not my thing.

The touchy issue here would be saying which of the 3 is more predominant...

I love GW2 and spend a liitle bit each day on various forums because I'm about to start a fresh guild and when I start recruitment I don't want to spam /M chat in game. But yeah I get your point. There's more exceptions than you might expect though, I've seen plenty positive posters but they just can't keep up with all the negative ones posted by folks that didn't even play the game (and often it's best to ignore trolls anyways).

You´ll read such statements in new games quite often.

But generally I agree: people who like a game play it. I remember playing Diablo 3 for a few weeks several hours a day. I had a blast playing it, but when watching the forums once a day threads exploded 20+ pages daily "why I won´t buy D3" etc.
