So hard to stick with one character...

TheScavengerTheScavenger Member EpicPosts: 3,321

Been playing a Charr Engineer, since that is what I wanted to play since both were first announced.

But then I saw human elementalist and they look like tons of fun. I love magic type classes.

Then I saw a necromancer and they look like tons of fun.

Anyone else having trouble deciding on a "main" in this game? I' m trying to just stick with an Engineer. But may end up making an elementalist of some kind...maybe a human or asura. I dunno.

Or try to stick with just my Charr :P

I was having that problem and I still look at the other 4 characters that I made.  However I have decided that I would really really like to get 100% world map and I probably will only want to do that once.  So I stuck with my little Asura Engineer and he has grown a ton on me.  I am now at the point that I only care about playing him.  There are times that I am tempted to swtich to one of my alts when I see someone else do something cool, then I just do something cool or funny and the moment passes.

yeah, I have 5 characters and am loving all of them. All of the areas are great imo, and all of the characters have a unique style about them. I'm staring down the barrel of the cash shop extra character slots... already... :)

ha that's exactly what I am doing, for now I'm focused on map completions, and that's the main reason that I'm still playing only my ele :) If I weren't doing this I would be already trying other classes :)

Yeah I kept bouncing back and forth between my Sylvari Elementalist and my Charr Ranger. I finally made a Asura Thief and after playing it, I liked it much more than the Ranger but I'm about 50/50 with the Elementalist. I'm not sure which one I want to stick with yet. lols

Haha I completly agree with buying more charcter slots! I picked one of each race, the ele is amazing and can really change up the spells based on what element you use. So far I have been playing the warrior since they can use both a long bow and a rifle. I like to be able to change up my play style without the need to switch characters. I got all five up to level ten. I recomend this so you can get a real feel for what the rest of the game will be like with the specific class/race

I've put in some time on all 8 professions. However, I've only done personal story quests on one, otherwise I'd confuse myself.

I've played my norn ele up to 30 and I think that is where she will stay for awhile. Charr warrior is my focus at the present time. As far as extra character slots go I'll just save up the gold to buy gems to unlock additional slots. Don't think I'll have much use for the characters in the other 3 slots for awhile. If I do they are low enough level that I can just delete them and create whatever fills the need at the time.

Funny thing, I'm playing a Norn Ele, and was just sitting here thinking about making a Charr Warrior tonight when I read this.

Usually I want to play one character to lvl cap, but here, I dunno...

I couldn't really decide either so I've been bouncing between a 27 char ranger (axe/horn, sword/dagger good fast paced multikill lvling) and 26 human guardian (scepter/torch, staff. Same thing about lvling. Aoe's galore and speed buff with 20s cool down) and am deciding upon a asura ele once I get a g13 and game pad (I find it's too hard to play one with normal keyboard/mouse) and a norm warrior. Eventually I'll want to play a sylvari necro tho. Oh too many options! Too much fun!

And a sylvari thief. And then a asura mesmer. I tried the engi but i find it's too limited in play style

What lvl did you get up to for Engineer...

I LOVE engineer with turrets, grenade packs or bomb packs.  You can even heal if you want to.

Engineer offers an amazing amount of versatility... i couldn't agree less... but that's the beauty of the game.... It's easy to learn but hard to master.  I think it has the deapest class customization I've ever seen.

Yeah... I want to play my mesmer, but I keep wanting to try every class.

Only class I have low interest in is the warrior.

Count me among those struggling to stick with just one.  I started with a Norn Warrior and am enjoying him, but then I figured out the whole, go to the mists feature and play around with fully equipped level 80s and the Ranger, Guardian and Engineer all seemed like tons of fun, and in fact I did better in my mock combat with some of the other classes as opposed to the warrior I've been playing.

Please note I'm not saying the warrior is bad.  At any rate, now I'm kind of torn and will probably mess around with other ones.  I don't so much mind playing multiple characters, but I also have limited time to play so I kind of want to pick one to focus primarily on and it's just so hard to decide!!!!    LOL!

Gotta agree.  I had lower interest in the Engineer until I made one and took him to the mists at level 80 and saw all the versatility and the very different combat mechanics and that made me very interested to play one.  The downside is it just added yet another class that I want to play, making it hard to decide on a main one.

I'll have to look at the engi again then but I tried it out during the stress test they ran that extended to 6hrs. Can't remember the date. Anyways, I went into the mists too and looked through all the talent stuff and played around with it a bit and tried out the different utilities and I just didn't like the purely ranged aspect. Like I said in the comment prior to the one about the engi, I am playing a close/mid-ranged crit (75%, able to reach 100% for extended periods of time) and a guardian. Idk, I just didn't like the engi
