It also depends if you want to participate in WvWvW. For instance on the server I'm on you can't get in from 6 PM EST to 3 AM EST. So you might want to keep that in mind when choosing a server.
Im on high pop dragonbane. No problems at all for me... yet lol. Their are low pop server available though if your worried about overflow or WvW stuff.
It's pretty safe to start playing although there a number of bugged DE's but nothing that will prevent your progress. These are all optional content, so far as I am aware.
If you want to do WvWvW however, you will need to choose your server carefully. A good number of them are reporting extended wait times to get in although you can still play PvE while queued.

Ignore this guy. I haven't ran into any bugs while playing. Not one. Some players have ran into one or two, but there aren't a lot of bugs.
As for WvW, depends on your server. You will have to wait in a queue, but generally those waits aren't as long as this guy is leading you to believe. Also, there are other maps besides the central map for WvW. So just because you can't get into the central map, doesn't mean you can't get into the side maps. The side maps are just as important if you want your server to win.
Pretty much the only things that still need to be fixed now are the trading post, guild chat problems (random, some have this problem, some don't), and parties being separated due to overflow.
I have been playing just fine since pre-purchase release. other than a few hours when the servers were down the first night. Mail works fine and they are rotating the trade system between players so you can occasionally catch it. I have yet to post anything on it because I don't quite trust it yet! Guild invites are working (atleast for me they have).
The game is working fine if you want to play.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

I can see the difference, can you see the difference.
Yes...the game is worth a purchase. There are some bugs going on but nothing gamebreaking. Sanctum or Rall is the server I play on. Has a decent community and grouping has been cake. It appears to be one of the less populated servers too so getting into WvW is just short of instantaneous for the most part. The drawback to this of course is that we tend to be on the losing end in these gambits for the same reason...we don't have as many players.
The groups I've been in do well. Problem is for every piece we take seems something goes under somewhere else. Simply not enough folks it appears to compete least for now. May change in the future. Is nice getting in WvW right away and frankly since the groups I've run with do well doesn't really phase me that we aren't pulling it out overall. Not much you can do about it anywaysif you don't have the numbers.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

Been really busy (playing other games, lol), so I haven't touched the game yet.
I want to make sure I dive in without a hitch. Also, which server?
Just don't buy any items. You might get banned!
Haha what a perfect way to missdirect information..
It's like going to a bank machime , everytime you withdraw 20$ it gives you 100$. So you go and witdraw 20$ over 1k times to be rich.. trust me the bank will go after you.....
They banned those who exploited that more than 50times.... common......
Otherwise yes the game is AMAZING, few bugs with AH ( TP ) and mail ( then again, mail was to block an exploit )
Honestly, it's not safe. Your real life commitments will likely take a hit. It depends on how much you care about your gf/wife/kids/job/business/school. If very little, it is perfectly safe. If you actually care about them, it could destroy everything you hoped to accomplish.

There are still a few isseues, mainly that the AH is down (or was yesterday, I havnt logged in yet today) and that most of the servers are overfull.
But besides that it is fine, serverperformance is surprisingly good consider how many people are around and the only downtime I seen was on prelaunch day.
I'm playing on the secondary server that mmorp.com guild is on. I forgot the name. The game is running very smooth, about 40 frames per second. I haven't noticed any disconnects. I have been put into an overflow area because certain instances were full, but I didn't mind at all.
I played for maybe....10 hours yesterday (omg) and didn't have any issues. Getting in right now, it's pretty easy to level because there's a lot of folks around doing the dynamic quests.
It's a lot of fun, I was going to wait a little longer myself but took the leap and am glad I did. So come on in, it's great!

Oh, that reminds me, about server performance. I've played mmo where I had to jump before. SWTOR comes to mind in it's horrible implimentation where there was lag from button push to jump.
Well, yesterday in G2 I was a jumping fool !!! I was like a little bunny hopping on mushrooms and waterlilies and everywhere, and I experienced no delay. The response was tight, making the vista acquisitions very fun and rewarding. An mmo company gets it right!

Depends how much you mind bugs.
