It's not that WoW is worth playing so much as soon there will be nothing but WoW to play yet again.... As soon as the gamer masses hit 80 in GW2 and realize theres nothing left to do but reroll WoW will get everyone back. It's good that another MMO was finally successful but a shame they decided to ignore endgame like the rest of struggling games out there.
The new patch added some great new features IMO. I rerolled a paladin today and noticed a few dungeons got a complete overhaul rfc and scarlet halls and monastary to name a few a lot harder then they used to be wouldn't call it dumbed down at all..
Dude after 8 years i aleays return back to wow. It is worth to play and it is simply the best mmo. New patch is awesome and you have countless possibilities. Cheers! See ya back in Azeroth!
I don't know what the game is like now that the 5.0.4 patch has dropped, but I can say several things based on what I have experienced on my former server:
World PVP only exists in small pocket areas here and there, most commonly near major cities like Orgrimmar, Stormwind, maybe Thunderbluff every once in a while. The only other place I know that has World PVP would be the Gurubashi Arena, and that's once every 3 hours for a chest of outdated loot (although apparently still appealing for the trinket and achievement). City raids to me are pretty much dead, due to overbuffed guards and a heavy concentration of people in Stormwind/Orgrimmar, and just a general lack of interest from my former faction.
Leveling is roughly the same, as far as I'm concerned. More phasing and maybe some interesting stories here and there, sure, but roughly the same otherwise. My only beef is the heavy nerfs to elite mobs in the leveling zones; kinda makes my victories over the zones anticlimactic to be honest.
The world is pretty empty, going with the World PVP thing I mentioned earlier. You might see the occasional leveler or some guy doing archaeology, but otherwise, it can get lonely pretty fast.
You can do everything from a major city. Dungeons, PVP, Crafting, and now Raids. Whether you see that as a good thing or not depends on how much you care about the point I made above.
Based on the points I've made, you decide.
You should play on Bleeding Hollow, it is a High pop (most of the time) Eastern Timezone realm that has an almost even number of Alliance/Horde playing on it, there is way more World PVP there.
The Repopulation and Otherland look like innovative new MMO's but what if I do end up liking WoW when I play it again, then I try The Repopulation at the end of 2013 and I end up liking that to? I would be playing WoW and Planetside 2 already, 3 MMO's just seems like to much to play. I will be rotating each month playing only Planetside 2 / WOW for one month and the next month playing any other game I wanna play and WoW for only 2 weekends a month.
COH scaling is situational - its not all mobs, all zones, all the time
hell i could have said the same thing about EQ2 mentoring
no mmo does autoscaling on the entire world, like GW2
As I said, its an evolution. Scaling to level is not something new.
One could autoscale the whole world in any MMO that had such mechanic. Just GW2 does it automatically, without the need for being grouped.
However, we are hijacking this thread so will leave it there.
Sorry dude but Rift has self mentoring and also dungeon que mentoring to allow you to auto mentor in lower level dungeons. Its maybe not auto for the zones but it is for dungeon ques.Id prefer not for it to scale me down in zones anyway , i might want to go back there and harvest without mobs kicking my arse at the same level.Plus that doesnt seem realistic to be powerful then all a sudden be weak because you go into a different zone 0.o. Unless gw2 has an option for it to be disabled?
Rift also has insta adventures wich is questing with others in a raid setting with no exclamation marks or npc to click on , and doing quest chains until you get to a final boss .Its also In the world and it also auto scales you down . This was put in before gw2 was in headstart so go figure.

you're ill informed.
gw2 has in fact more endgame than WoW ever had.
the only thing gw2 has not is raids.
but since wow always only has 1 relevant raid at endgame, it is 99.9% pure gear grind to get there and most people never even do the heroic raid to the last boss.
wow has illusionary, carrot on a stick endgame.
just watch the developer video about endgame.
I've written enough about endgame myself... just look at the guild wars official wiki or guild wars guru...
I'll make this simple. I'm slightly tired of people asking the forums to make their mind up for them. Play the free trial first 20 levels first. If you like it, play it. : )
I agree that people should make up their own minds about an MMO, but the free trial only gets you to level 20 in this case. That's less than a quarter of the way to max, which means the free trial will not give a person any taste of what end-game will be like.
That said, it's pretty easy to do a search here about WoW's end-game, or watch YouTube videos on it.
Current: None Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
It has really been bothering me, it is a big dilemma for me on wether I should go back to it or not. What if I do, I would also be playing planetside 2 and I wanna try The Repopulation and Otherland when they come out, what if I like one of those? 3 MMO's seems like to much to play but maybe I could manage it playing 2 one day and 1 or 2 the next. Playing 3 MMO's for 1 month straight then next month any game I want and WoW for 2 weekends a month then rotating each month.
I fear I might get bored of it in 2-4 months like I used to, hopefully not.
Dear OP. Don't even bother wasting your money you will just end up quitting again anyways. That game is garbage. Unless Pandas are your thing then have at it but IMO save your money and your time.
WoW's world PVP just seems so exciting especially on Bleeding Hollow, A high pop pvp server with an almost even number of Alliance and Horde. I guess I will play WoW for a week and decide if I truly wanna go back to it.

if you're really interested. which I doubt.
