Kansas DMV vs. NCSoft - the thrilla in manilla

SatariousSatarious Member UncommonPosts: 1,073
Who has the crappier customer service?  Here in Kansas, you can't even apply for a new Car registration on the same day because there's such a huge backlog.  You have to schedule your place in line like 3-4 days in advance.  I think NCSoft has them beat with this 72 hours non-sense before they take care of hacked accounts!

Do they at least have a phone number you can call?

..And I thought  this thread was about Kansas DMV suing NCSoft for some copyright infringement or some sh*t :D

Really? The DMV thing I mean. It used to be really bad here in Jersey but now I can go in and do a title transfer AND regester the title for the road and be out the door in 10 min. Thats no BS either!

Oh, by the way, it's not their fault your account got hacked so why do they really need to snap to it when there are more pressing matters to attend to.

Lol!  That's funny.  It will be their fault in your eyes pretty quick when it's your account that has been hacked, my friend.  And it IS their fault since their account server has been hacked, most likely.  This is not your typical account hacking problem you find on WoW and SWTOR.  This is far more widespread, which leads me to believe it's most likely a result of their carelesness on security.

Was that a serious reply? What's more pressing than thousands (seemingly) of your customers accounts being stolen?

It will NEVER be my account that gets hacked, wanna know why? Because I'm not an idiot! I know how to protect my online accounts! I have nearly 2 dozen internet accounts from Online banking to game forums and guess what. They all have SEPERATE email's associated with them, seperate usernames, and unique passwords. What do you know.... I have never had any account of my compromised.... EVER!

I'll guarantee they all have some forum somewhere, or game site in common where they are using the same email address/password combo as for their GW2 account. Really all they need is to hack your email and thats all she wrote.

Dosent really matter to me because why people are in here boo-hoo'ing about how they cant play because they didnt do enough to asfeguard their account i'll be enjoying my time in the game.

OK, oh-mighty-personal-security genius, what happens when THEIR server gets compromised?  What happens to your precious "separate account for everything" foolproof plan when GW2's account server gets hacked and they have access to all of your info?  I'll tell you what happens:  YOU'LL be the idiot, by your own standards.

I hope you're an ArenaNet or NCSoft employee, because you've got to be the biggest fanboy on the planet.  Pull your head out of their ass for a minute and get some air, for God sakes.

Their servers didnt get hacked, thats just an excuse. Like I said, I'll never get hacked period. Sheit my online banking is done on a laptop that ONLY gets used for online banking/bills. No facebook, or game sites, or whatever.

You'll have to excuse me, I'm going back to play Guild Wars 2, care to joi.... oh wait you cant. Sorry! LOL

Is it me, or do all the GW2 fanboys around here think that NCSoft's s**t don't stink?  It's like it never occured to them that ArenaNet/NCSoft could be at fault because they're just too perfect.  Just because you enjoy the game doesn't make everything about that company perfect.

You plan a trip for a vacation and you decide to take the highway instead of the side roads because it's faster.  You end up in a  16 pile-up and your car is now in need of repair.  You get to the shop and  you are told you will have to wait  a month to get your car fix and you can't get a temp.

It is clearly your fault for deciding to go on the highway knowing people tend to drive more recklessly at high speeds.  It is now your fault you have no car and  pretty much screwed.

Telling people they are basically a moron for not making a new email and 16  character random password for every online service they use?  As long as there is money to be made, accounts will be stolen.  It is not a matter if  it will happen but when.  How it is handled is what is wrong in the OPs mind  and I'd be upset too if I was told just wait  72 and maybe we will get back to you.

Because it happened to you the problem is nowhere close to "far more widespread". Most world populations are high or full right now, except for the 3 new servers. Forums just have this weakness of amplifying vocal minorities.

Question to the audience. Will the OP ever admit he's a tool and needs to smarten up or will he keep blaming others and never take responsibility.

I'm confused as to the complaint about the Kansas side DMV when you live in Missouri.  Are you really doing business with THEIR DMV?  Or were you just using it as a point of reference for bad customer service, because....I get that.  But I bet the people in Overland Park, etc....get it a whole lot more.

Anyway, I agree with you wholeheartedly on ArenaNet's dealing (or lack of dealing) with hacked accounts.  Seems a bit ridiculous to me.

Yaaaay someone else who gets it.

Troll posts a thread: Massive security breaches / login issue, etc. game is ruined. Arenanet sucks

Me: Login and look at server list that has been on high/full every day for every server besides the 3 brand new ones... laugh at the stupidity... click PLAY

I hope you get your account back.

But surely if the account servers were hacked wouldn't there be far more of these sort of threads? They'd probably want to grab stuff in stages to sell back to the players and then hack those accounts, etc, etc.

If there is a news item confirming this then I take it back.

Dude you can't take anyone thats a die hard GW2 fan serious right now they are a plague, same goes for the people saying its the worst game ever, its not.  I have a lot of criticisms with the game but I'm not some 12 year old jacking it to the MMORPG forums.  The GW2 fanbois like Deathenger are being real douches if anyone offers negative aspects of ANet, GW2 or their service.  Its seriously disrespectful to say its someones fault b/c their account got stolen.  Don't be such a nerd you troll.  I hope you get your account back Satarious.

Back on topic...These threads are interesting, my friend I played SWTOR with had his account hijacked as well and he finally just heard back from them after a week of using their automated website ticket thingy.  I wonder if its ANet handling the support or NCSoft, because I can tell you after having played Aion NCSofts support is pretty crappy as well.  Of course now everyones gonna just blame NCSoft and not ANet for this debacle.
