I wish it had a sub, then I would have saved myself the cost of a box =/ I fell to the hype and a friends nagging, I only caved because it didn't have a sub.. sigh.
If it had a sub I would never have tried it..
Damn Aori, looks like we are still searching for something to play. One day my friend, one day.
I'm hoping wildstar may prove to be something fun, only thing on the horizon that I'm interested in.
I am going all in on Reborn. Been doing alot of reading up on it and its just totally got my attention.

Have to agree with this comment ...i wont sub to a game again..bought a lifetime for TSW and it was worth it but no more subs after this..if these guys can put a game like this out without a sub then so can the rest.
That does not really make sense to me. If you like Guild Wars 2 then why not pay a sub? I have no problem paying sub fees at all. The problem is that I have not played a game since my old Lineage 2 days thats worthy of a sub. If a game comes out and it is everything that I want in a mmo I will gladly pay a sub for it. The problem is that I am still waiting for that game.
I don't see what's so confusing. "if these guys can put a game like this out without a sub then so can the rest" pretty much says it all. Do you think that because a game charges a subscription, that it's going to be better? Why should I pay extra money I don't have to? At the moment, I haven't even dipped into the GW2 cash shop yet.
"Worthy of a sub" is such a poor statement to make. If a game is good, it's good, regardless of payment model. Rift charged a sub and it wasn't worth it to me. Same with SWTOR and TSW. I still wouldn't pay a subscription for GW2... not because it's not worth it, but because I don't have to.
I intend to use some money in the cash shop for stuff like character slots and bank expansions anyway.
This game is more worthy of a monthly feee than most if not all subscriptions based games released these last years.
But of course, a subscription would involve the removal of the cash shop...

What is "almost criminal" is to spread such misinformation about the game. GW2 has more content at release than many MMOs have years after their release.
Second this. I must say I have come to realize people are dumber than I thought by reading comments such as "GW2 has no content / not enough content for a sub" It has more b((/&% content than any other game released in the past few years... by far. You may not LIKE it but you can't say it isn't there with a straight face.
Edit: oops had written a bad word, sorry!
What content? There is not alot of different things to do in the game and there is nonthing to work toward doing at higher level. A dungeon and thats it? No wonder people are level 80 already complaining about nonthing to do.
It might be because this isn't Rift or WoW where you race to the end of the game to start playing it. These players that are level 80 already are stuck in that mindset and missed the entire premise of the game.
The game is jam packed full of content, some people are just looking for the way they want it to be, not the way it is presented.
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.

Some people are still blinded by the past 10 years and much like raids, they think subscriptions are a necessary standard of quality for any MMO. It makes no sense, but try telling them that.

You dont get it what I am saying. Lets assume Guild Wars 2 is a pay to play mmo. You got to try the game in beta and said to your self this is the mmo that I have been waiting for. You would not pay a sub for it?
Nope. The game has yet to capture me. I'm beginning to think it's more of a me problem than a GW2 problem. I just don't have fun in DE zergs, which is what the DEs feel so far to me. I'm still playing tho. Just not as much...

The MMOs I wait for don't forcibly extract money out of me on a monthly basis to run the same content. Why would I assume something of a game that is finally breaking the expected conventions? It doesn't have a sub, thus I would not pay a sub. Threads like this are utterly pointless. I don't live in some hypothetical world.

You didn't get what this guy said. There was no discussion here and you were able to make your own assumption out of his decision. He doesn't want a game that he has to pay a sub for, and then Eir_S pointed out that games don't need to be subbed anymore. /shrug

The game is pretty amazing. All those that are hating on it are obviously allergic to fun. Seriously guys, if you don't enjoy GW2 for what it is, I think it's time to just walk away, because nothing is ever going to please you. Have fun being miserable.

I'm not playing the game now...I'm deferring my purchase until probably the first patch. However, I would not be playing the game if it had a sub. A lot of people would see this as a reflection of GW2's value. I see it as I'm tired of paying subscriptions and feeling like I'm wasting money if I'm not playing the game every day.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Cash shops are awful for core game design. I prefer subs. Saying that, GW2 at least lets me play for everything in the shop... and it is good enough for me to tolerate the obvious decisions that I have seen that are blatantly based on promoting the use of the shop.

I kinda got that same feeling when I started working alot more. I did not have the time to put in a game like I used to so that made me question paying a sub fee for a game.

Didn't fill in the poll because I'm done with paying subscriptions no matter how good a game is.
One exception: I'm willing to pay a subscription for a MMOFPS (Planetside 2)
