Congratulations to EVE Online! I think you deserve it! Haven't play this game yet but my friends love this game so much so I guess, I must give this a try too, maybe next week!

Thats the problem I had with EvE. I dont like games that take me over a week just to have fun.
Really? Games that are too easy dry up VERY fast. Whats the fun in knowing everything at once. Look at WoW. They handed it to you (the user) on a silver plate. Its like they feared having players to actually USE there brains.
Games that are hard from the start are the ones that last longer, and it should tell you that the developers have put alot of work into it. IMO.
EQ2 should be on top and EVE following (once again IMO, cuz I love EQ2)
Saga of Ryzom is on that list too, so we know how accurate that list really is.
It's annoying that people feel the need to artifically inflate the score of the game they play just so it gets attention. If the game was that great it would be number one without anyone telling people on the Eve boards to come here and vote for it. Actually it's not really annoying, it's really sad.
I do agree EVE deserves to be among the top games, even if it is not for everyone.
They need to add 2 things really and I this can go however far.
Boosted skill gain first month, like the first month of play you have a 300% training speed boost. Most people who are new feel like there just is no way to catch up, and there are not really, but some system should be put in place to bridge that gap.
Some minute XP, skillbased, so when you do something you get at LEAST some training, like if you are mining you get double training speed if you are training it at the moment, or just mining goes up as if you were training it, while you mine. Similar systems for most skills should be put it, this again would give the new people atleast the feeling that there is a possibility to catch up.
Just how I think though.

That's 15k on at same time. Subscription numbers are closing to the 100k now. That'S nothing compared to WOW but it's a healthy number and the fact that those numbers rise fast is a good sign too.
I play eve since beta and i love it and i didn't give it an all 10 rating btw. No games deserves all 10 rating.

Not IMHO. I thought Eve was very boring. I don't really look at the rating for games. I juct checked out of the top 13 rated games all with 8.0+ rating I only liked 3 of them. Maybe it's just my tastes don't go with the normal MMORPG fan.
I think that EVE definately deserves to be in the top 3 games.... while it is not for everyone it is truely a cutting edge game even today. EVE also shows how a company and devs should handle a game, everytime I turn around EVE has new stuff, new tweaks that truely are needed. This game has been out for what 3-4 years and it is still one of the most popular out there.
BTW: I do not play EVE now..... so I cannot be called a Fanboy
I dunno... I like EVE enough that I keep trying it but there's something missin in that game. I'm glad it's growing steadily (whoever said it was climbing 'fast' is deluded) because it is a remarkable game. Just not fun for me, or anyone that I know who's tried it.
It IS better than most anything else out there purely from a conceptual and graphical point of view.
But comparing EVE's graphics to those of a fantasy MMORPG are unfair since EVE has about 1/100th of the Poly's to deal with and less graphical complexity even on the textures.
Good game... not sure it deserves to be #1... then again... neither does GuildWars (which isn't even an MMORPG).
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online. Sig image Pending Still in: A couple Betas

Or any other game for that matter .
Anyways I find myself with only 2-3 hours of playtime a day, which really makes me a fit with EVE because its enough time to run some missions or mine or anything else and its enough that the skill system works great for me. "What about travel time" Oh please, I haven't made more than 8 jumps simultaneously in like a week.
---------------------------------- MMOs Retired From: Earth and Beyond, Project Entropia, There, A Tale in the Desert, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, Eve Online, City of Heroes/Villains.
One thing for sure is I'm not going to take some guy who has a friggan EvE guy for an avatars word about how "awesome" this boring game is. Once you put up the EvE avatar your a fanboy and get a -55% believability rating about that game.
"I'm sorry but your mmo has been diagnosed with EA and only has X number of days to live."

what its missing is action and fun.
just quit the trial myself. it has nice graphics and nice music but all you do is watch really. sure, you tell your ship where to go but you just watch it fly. pirate? lock on and watch it autoshoot and fly. you have no control over what you can do for the most part.

I agree it all seemed fully an autopilot game..hell even the skill training is time based. Although its a good game I think lately it has been overhyped, Probably by the old sckool community with maxed out skills and need new players for pirating ganking exploiting scamming etc. with only 10000 players i think that most must be quite elite by now. With the skill training how it is how can new players ever possibly compete? All the raving reviews i have seen were people bragging how they played for 2 yrs or more and still arent bored.
The only way this game would be worth the rating would be if you could actually land on some planets and recon with an avatar or vehicle. even a small ship. just something different then warping around space stations. Like the game but its a niche market this space commander stuff. Trekkies dream but for the average fantasy rp player definately not fun

I'm agreed with your opinion moonfog!
WoW, 4 example, is not only simple game and everything is "known-well", there is "OMG I'm get killed, now I must walk for some to get back everithing like it was". Same stuff is with GW!

Hmm. 15000 people online simultaneous. 70000 + subscriptions.
yes, its a niche game, but its giving its players what they want
I play Eve and WoW - two totally different games, but both good at their own things.

I said it works for me, nothing more(in fact I even stated earlier I thought EVE was being overhyped). I like using an avatar of the MMOs I play, which include Earth & Beyond, A Tale in the Desert, Project Entropia, There, Star Wars Galaxies, World of Warcraft, City of Heroes and finally EVE which I just started 2 months ago. I've been through enough MMOs that I'm way passed the "RWARR" flame everyone who doesn't share my opinion fanboy mentality, don't worry you'll get there some day.
I'd be playing AA right now if it hadn't been delayed by a year, hell I'm already in an AA clan which has branched off into some other games(including EVE) while everyone awaits AAs release. First time I did the EVE trial, I got bored, second time I stuck with it and got a $5 paid account key, and I haven't liked an MMO this much since pre-KOTOR conversion SWG.
