Anyone else got hacked??

in Guild Wars 2

Hey all,

Did anyone else got hacked for unknown reason? I just got an email saying that my account name was changed and now i can't loggin. I never made such request AND I never accepted any requestes made to my account email. So, how is this possible?

I dont think my email account is compromised cuz I have been using it normally and i made it just for GW2 few weeks ago.

Would appreciate any thoughts and help.

    Yes snap, but just i checked my GW account after re-installing it just to make sure, and email says been changed and can't login in STILL, sent in ticket 3days ago now, still no reply

    yep got hacked..still not heard a peep off  them..one can only hope i actually get a response.

    make a new e-mail adress and pw for that matter,so when you do get it back the new stuff has really no links to everything..i guess we all learn the hard way.

    Wow, this must be really serious.  Since it's been released I've seen atleast 40 posts on this site alone from people stating they've been hacked.

     

     

    Seems like they have a big problem on their hands.  Sucks.

    I don't understand why it's possible to change password without email confirmation. My email is pretty much unhackable (gmail with 2step verification).

    I'm actually afraid to even logon to the forums right now in fear that I might accidentally go to some phising website and give my info. I've already seen gold farmer messages in my inbox and its scary. I hope the best of luck to you all. I guess the only place I'll be entereing GW account info is on the client's login. Until stuff calms down no forums for me.

    I still don't understand why the IP verification isn't stopping this. No one has been able to or has been willing to answer this question. For IP verification you have to click on a link they send your e-mail to verifiy. If it works how its intented to, then your e-mail would have to be compromised as well. IP verification should be enough unless you have key loggers on your computer or your e-mail gets compromised, which means that its not on ANETs end.

    myself included inthis i would say that those that have been hacked bare some sort of responsibility towards it ourselves.i spent 2 hrs this morning deleting every e-mail adress from every gaming account that i can remember.and has some people have pointed out on numerous occasions you should use a totally different e-mail and pw for each game you play.if you use the same.sooner or later its goin to happen to you.

    if you've waited longer than 72 hours (3 days), update your ticket

    The most retarded thing arenanet has done is having mailadres as an accountname, this way they give 50% of the securitty away. I never get companies that do this. I work at a high security institution and people have a random generated 8 digits accountname.  This way a potential hacker needs to both hack accountname and password.
