Opinions are free. You can have them all you want. However, it's not an excuse, its a reality. Anyone who has checked out the RV site can see that RedBedlam has taken a different approach to just about every aspect of the game. We also take a different approach to our screenshots. We feel its more honest to release screenshots of what is actually going on in game instead of shots that are posed, screencaptured, photoshoped, then released. With ground effects turned off, and only one texture per tile, sure it looks bad...but that's not how it's going to look when everything is turned on. The release client will look better and more on par with the average MMORPG graphics.
You guys can believe what you want, all we can do is tell you the truth, its up to you weather you believe it or not.

Eh...he won't be alone there will be a bunch of us with him..I don't know what RV is going to look like in the end but it' got a few things in it's favor regardless.
First ,no more of this traditional garbage, developer's can't break from to save their hides,no lvl grind.No more "no end-game content" complaints,there is no end-game. No more "nerf" requests/complaints...i can't even imagine how a nerf could be applied to their format.No more "rats" to be fought as a newb.Did they innovate all this?...no...Atitd comes to mind....Even Eve falls victim to a few of these.
Second, the devs.What community get's frequent personal updates from the development team?..name them...there isn't another one.Seen anyone from sony or blizzard jump into any of these forums,taking shots from critics? I mean besides fan-boys...actual employees?..No they don't even respond to outcrys from their own forums.These Devs are already miles ahead in my book.
Lastly, the community.The main thing i've realized playing all these games is the community is the heart of the game...more then any other factor it's the community and it ain't numbers folks...it's QUALITY.Take Atitd as an example, small game not much to look at, small but VASTLY superior community to any game i've seen yet.Shaking off people like you will make the community a better place.People who write the game off now after seeing only a snipet of the game while it's still in production.Plus come into the forums of said game just to say "ewww...it's so ugly"...what pupose does that serve?tell me? Not impressed with what u've seen fine look elsewhere plenty of games out/coming out,just don't fool yourself that we're going to shed any tears.Believe me when i say, he'll have plenty of people to play with.Is RV going to have the subscription numbers of WoW? no...Neither does Eve,Atitd and a dozen other games funny how they all survive without u huh.

Trust me I considered what it would be like confronting some people myself. Not over opinions. But you know when you're playing a MMO and some little puke starts giving you a hard time and he just wont stop. Then he starts talking about how he can benchpress cars and knows 7 forms of martial arts and that he's gonna kick your tail. Well thats all easy to say when you're hiding in your bedroom behind a computer monitor but what if this little punk was in the same room with me? I'm sure it would be a different story.

Dude I'm so glad you brought that up. I was counting the days till the first episode came out. I cant get enough of anything thats Roman. But after watching several episodes of "Rome" I have to say I'm seriously disappointed. I was hoping for more large battles with hundreds of extras. But instead it's more of a roman soap opera full of twisted sex scenes. Yeah sure I like sex as much as the next guy but I'll go to the Internet for that. What I want is to see the tactics and strategies of Roman Generals such as Publius Cornelius Scipio while in battle. Not a sex scene with some overweight Roman Senator.

At first I didnt think graphics would matter that much. But the other day I reinstalled an old fav of mine ... Daggerfall. Back in the day Daggerfall was simply an awesome game (sure it was a bit buggy). But when I tried to play it the other day the graphics were so yucky that it actually ruined the gaming experience.
I hope Roma Victor's graphic dont have that same effect. We need a Historical game out there.
i'm getting extremly tired of people who don't read up on information about this game and then make wild assumptions. This is probably the 300th thing (including graphics) where people have these crazy ideas about the game.
1. Graphics are set to the lowest settings and for the time being there hasn't been much work done to them. Once the gameplay is solid with no bugs, then the graphics will be improved.
2. RV did not set an actual official release date. They said estimated 4th quarter of 2005. That still means till December depending on where you live. From what I have heard a lot of new stuff has been added recently, which means the release date is not far off, we can only hope.
3. Those of you who talk about how since you can purchase in-game money, there will be major inflation (i.e. Project Entropia), this will not happen, as both RV can limit an amount of money that can be purchased per month and can change the exchange rate of money in certain areas if needed.
4. Yes, the game is open-pvp. So for those of you who complain about being killed, I doubt it will happen as much as you think. This game is not for those who think you can go around killing everything in sight. RV is going for realism here, so if your wondering about how a farmer can defend himself against ravaging barbarians, think about what you could do in real life. (hire guards mabye?)
Sorry if I came off a little strong but I want to get the point of this game across as best I can. If you have any other questions just visit the RV website forums. Use the search button if your looking for something specific, thats what its there for. Pretty much every question you can think of has been talked about so look before you post a new thread. There are a lot of things RV is doing that has not been done before, or atleast not seen since UO. As for that 2000+..... it could be more, RV has a nice trick up its sleeve that I cannot talk about.
