Eve Online - space sim/space trading game, very deep game, but it doesnt have a lot of PvE. - lots of hardcore open PvP though - huge universe to explore (although travel time can be annoying if u do that alot), - player run econonomy, one of the deepest ive ever seen - RL skill increase - this could be a problem, if you wanna fly the biggest, the badest ship, youd have to wait several RL months to obtain skill - beautifull graphics (some say its monotone and look the same but i personaly like them) Too many things can be said about his game. The good thing is, you can try it for free.
AnarchyOnline - a more traditional scifi MMORPG, i havent played it more then a month so I cant realy comment about it. Its free to play I believe so try it.
SWG - it was OK before Combat Upgrade, after that, I dont know, didnt play. Im not sure if they have a trial, but from all the forum posts I read it seems the game is very bugged.
Saga of Ryzom - semi scifi MMORPG, has some nice features but last time i played it it wasnt very popular.
The Matrix Online - self explanatory title.
City of Heroes - a realy nice MMORPG. However, to me it was too much grind and missions that look pretty much the same.
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.
My advice, dont judge a game by their screenshots. Its like judging computers by the color of their case. At least download gameplay movie, or better yet, try it for free.

hehe.. I noticed ya didnt mention one fantasy game but they really wanted sci-fi i guess .. not that any are great right now.. they are all lacking in my opinion.
Good point Jimmy... I will at least try free version... I would consider a fanatsy but in my opinion WoW is going to be hard to beat when it comes to fantasy that is why I am considering Sci-Fi. I do still have a lvl 60 toon in AC2 that I could bring back up with the new expansion..

Played EQ2 and quite and moved to WoW.. EQ2 was just not for me at all...thanks for info tho

OK! Sreenshots can't tell much of game, neither videos, but u can see a bit more about game. U can visit http://myeve.eve-online.com/download/videos/ and download "EVE never fades". In EVE every lost is painfull, depending on what u have (ship, moduls or any of goods) atm, even your skillpoint that are not easy to cumulate (or u do clone upgrade). Based on real time, your skill point advance and that go realy slow (exept u r boosting the Learning skills). If u want to proceed in game u will never rush in something u are not certain that u will go out in one piece (in WOW u can allways do that, spirit healer do his job, and again YAAAR). So, I like EVE cuz I have the "risk" feeling almost like in real life. For example: u must work for some time (mining, industry, tradeing, missions, pirateing, etc) to buy yourself a deacent ship and moduls. U can post your e-mail and I will send you 15 day trial (if u don't have yet) and download the client.

Heh i know what you mean, I myself am a bit spoiled by WoW, now anygame with even a tiny bit of grind feels so... boring to me. WoW is like a breathe, quick, exciting and grind-free. It lacks high end content (although I never reached it, cuase im having too much fun in the mid reange with several of my chars) and PvP doesnt realy give any tangible rewards other then some armor and weapons. Now if WoW had Planetside style PvP, now THAT would rule... or at least DAOC style RvR.
In any case, you must tell us your style so we can suggest you something. What do you like? Are you casual player? do you like PvP more then PvE? Do you like forced grouping? Do you care more about trade skils then combat? Do you like grind? Do you like raiding and high end content? Ive played/tried about 80% of the most popular MMORPGs so I think i could give u a suggestion or two. But if you like WoW and its style, but you are just bored becuase there is not much to do at high levels, then I dont think i can recommend anything atm. Either roll another char or wait for another game. Im personaly waiting for Dark and Light, looks very promising.

And there is NO grind. Levelling takes place in real time, all the time.
there is no grind in leveling your skills, yes, you level i nreal time. Its a good and bad thing. The good thing is you dont get bored leveling skills becuase you cannot affect the speed, but its bad becuase you spend real life months leveling them and there is NOTHING you can do to speed up. Sure you can level learning first and other skills will level a bit quicker, but other then that, you cant learn faster. That makes dedicated people on par with casual people. All you have to do is login once week, start learning a new skill and come back in 2weeks or a month, depending on the skill level. So, if you want to fly the best ship - forget about it,doesnt matter how hardcore player u r, doesnt matter if u play 24/7, you WONT be able to play it untill you spend (insert corrent amount of real life months) leveling it.
There is grind in Eve - money grind. Doesnt matter what you do, hunt pirates, mine and sell, or manufacture and sell - its all highly repetative. To me, there wasnt much to do in Eve, I hunted pirates over and over, when i got tired of it, i went into mining frenzy, lasted for 3 days, tried to go into manufacturing but didnt have enough resources and money. The grind in Eve is money, unless you have a welthy friend, dont expect to gain easy cash by questing or pvping or doing anything, you need to invest a LOT of time into Eve before you reach the cream - thats what turned me away, after 1 month of gameplay, i still wasnt doing well financialy, there is too much of a gap between the rich and the poor
Dont get me wrong, Eve is a realy good game, but its just takes too much time and effort to get to the top, just like in Everquest.
