If you are a grinder and don't want to pursue a Jedi slot, then Bounty Hunter is currently the way to go.

This assumes you aren't that interested in crafting, which is a terrible grind often for little reward.

If you're a swag hunter, I'd suggest some Master Rifleman hybrid.

Personally I feel if you aren't going to grind Jedi, you are wasting your time in SWG. If you don't grind Jedi, you will resent:

    1) That they are an alpha class that will usually kill you in PvP.

    2) Even on a battle ground with other non-jedi, you will be targeted first and die first.

    3) No matter how long you play this game, they rate a second charactor slot and you don't. No small point as they can have a crafter or other non combat player and you have to fork over another 15 bucks a month to do the same.

    4) Jedi are everywhere. They are the only end game content and as others who never want to be a jedi leave the game, they seem even more abundant.

    5) If you follow others advice and become a bounty hunter, you will discover all the exploits Jedi use to prevent you from killing them, thats if you even find them on-line or they aren't on a planet where you can't touch them. A very good percentage of player bounty missions are not do-able.

    6) that jedi killed the gallactic civil war and PvP in general, there is very little for you to participate in.

Don't let a love of Star Wars drive you to SWG, let the love of Star Wars drive you away from this world that will try to kill your love of Star Wars.

I think it has its pros and cons definently.  I tried everything pretty much.  My favorite was Master Bounty hunter, Master rifleman, and Enough pistol to get a root shot.  I gave swg 2 years of my life and don't really regret it, lol.

You said you were a grinder, the good news is....You'll be level 80 in about a week, lol.  Maybe the investigation line of BH might take a bit longer.

Good Luck and Happy hunter image

    hehe thanks :)

Its so true... I used to think Jedi were kinda cool, now I want to see them all dead... It would have been better, after playing SWG, if both Obi-wan and Anakin fell in the lava... Don't let this happen to you, avoid SWG!

Perhaps some day these feelings will go away and I will have A New Hope.....

Lol. I don't really hate Star Wars, I just dislike SOE's game version of it. If you care anything of Star Wars and you decide to enter a Star Wars game about it, you have to take into account the time line or you cannot really get into the emersion of the Star Wars universe. Remember this game is suppose to be occuring about the time of The Empire Strikes Back. All the Jedi are gone except for Luke in this time period. The first year of SWG was great cause Jedi were non-existant for over six months and extremely rare after that. Currently they are everywhere and even SOE knows there is a big problem as the galactic civil war and PvP in general has taken a huge nose dive. Their own people have started threads looking for ideas on how to solve the problem, but its too late now. SWG is no longer an accurite and realistic environment, its become one of the many "jedi" titles out there. Players have been asking for a non-jedi server for over a year now to no avail as it goes against advertising and alienates all the jedi wannabe's. The population has also nose dived as veteran players have left in droves and there has been constant rumors of server merges. Sure this doesn't mean the game won't appeal to a certain population of gamers out there, but if you love Star Wars it won't really appeal to you as its not a realistic interpretation of Star Wars. Its a mass jedi game now. I have never wanted to be a jedi, I was mostly an entertainer. I began playing SWG when the advertising focused on living in a realistic Star Wars environment. Everyone who played for this reason knows that SOE failed them.

I use to play SWG religously. That was 1 1/2 ago i still have an account and log to talk to friends. Sadley, out of 150 friend I had about 5 or so ar on alot. Awsome comuunity, crappy end game. To many Jedi. SoE just made it "un" fun,

    :(

true a lot of your old friends are gone, however I found more that are brand new. I agree...it def is not a long term mmorpg for players, b ut they are generating new people in eevryday. Our guild took 2 new ones in tonight.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

I so often hear that that and that many old friends are gone in a MMOPRG. But thats the way of life in any multiplayer game. The trick is to always make new friends .... and if you wait long enough, especially in SWG, many old friends come back (often with new toons). I can see that especially well on my guild homepage, where people that were inactive for 6 or 12 month suddenly start posting and playing again.

    Have fun

In swg the ultimate loot hunter imho is master rifles, master pistols and Combat Medic 4004. You can solo anything that is melee by applying e-drain and combining with stopping shot. With a low sac rifle and sac pup you can get nasty dps alternating between quick draw and head shot. You can also have fun in pvp being a front-line rifleman.

This would be true if it wasn't for the fact that Bounty Hunters have unique access to all high-end loot in the game.
