what ship is nice to take after frigate? i just started again but this time i rly gonna buy eve, cause it went pretty fast in that 1day i play now
got best ship of Ammar frigate now(punisher), and im wondering what's best for me to train my skills in next.. i want a nice battle ship
Comments
Dont see eve like that.
The more powerful fighting class above frigate is the cruiser.
But.. that doesnt mean a lot. Youll need to build up your skills in either gunnery, engineering, elctronics, navigation, etc etc to really be effective on the ship youll be flying. dont look to ships like, this one better, that worst.. no, in eve each ship has a role. while a more expensive frigate may seem better for the player starting the game, youll see the other have more speed, or more medium slots etc etc..
Another thing; dont take Eve Online as a rush game like most mmorpgs out there. It will take you 4 or 5 months at least to understand Eve.. players playing for 3 years are still learning new stuff everyday
Heya!
As the previous poster said (PP for now), EVE is not about the biggest ship with the biggest guns. Let me lay it our for you a bit, on the example of mission. YOu should be familiar now with the fact that there are missions in EVE. Well, let me take a level 2 mission.
Mission level: 2
Opponents: frigs, maybe a cruiser or two
With a frigate: other frigs go down fast, cruiser must be tanked might be a problem
Interceptor (elite frig): no problem, you outrun everything, nothing hits you, you deal good dmg.
Assault Frigae (elite): easy as eating pie. Your resistances make you an awesome tank and you pack a good deal of firepower.
Cruiser (all): You are bigger than the frigs, i.e. you do not hit them because they are too fast and your turrets are too slow. So you need webbers (slows opponent down), reducing your available slots. But since you can tank easily, it is still a good choice.
Battleships: You are so big, that you need maybe two webbers for your weapons to hit. You are slow, the money / time ratio goes down fast (remember, your warp speed is size dependant, too). In deadspace, where MWDs are not allowed, you take ages to get from a to b (distance sometimes 70 km, your speed 400 m/s with AB), your ammo costs and you need a lot (since you rarely hit). OK, frigs die from one volley, but still, you need to hit.
Mission level: 3
Opponents: frigs, cruiser, EW frigs, drones
Now this gets nasty.
Frigs: nothing you can do, since you will be damaged to death quickly.
Elite frigs: if you are good (and this means RL and IC skill), you can do it. Yes, an interceptor can do the easier lvl 3 missions, assault frigs, too.
Cruisers (regular): work neat. Frigs might be a problem, though, since you need to web them, but that slot should be free for you. Maybe a missile cruiser in order to kill everything.
Elite Cruisers (HACs): perfect.
Battleship: Nasty. Drones orbit so fast, you do not hit them (maybe 2 webbers), but lock you down. Damage eats into your ship, mostly unable to kill you, however. And all the things about slowness apply.
Mission level: 4
Opponents: everything and nasty
In this case a HAC is the only realy feasible choice, besides for a very skilled BS.
--> What did that tell us? Cruisers and especially Elite cruisers are the ship to go, not BS. A HAC can take any dmg a BS can and more. It can deal out high dmg (not as high as BS, though). It tanks better. It is much faster. It can outrun BS weapons.
So, stay with a cruiser. And most importantly: Only fly a ship you can afford to loose!
Well work your skills up, engineering and electronic, gunneryskills and mechanics...
If you are moving up from frigate to cruiser then I would go for a Omen, I rarely use one (I'm Gallente and love flying my Assault frigate) but the little time I have had flying the omen I just liked it alot.
But if you have started just now, train your learningskills (there should be 5 or 6 of them) up to lvl 3 or 4, that will help you alot.
One thing I have started to do now is to tank the ship properly, I check what shield/armor hardners that I can use to make my ships Shield/armor more resistant to damage... that way I for example used a Faction ship (Daredevil) and attack cruisers with it.
What about destroyers? I saw a destroyer with 8(!) hardpoints. A salvo with that must hurt, even if it is probl small turrets...
It does hurt yes. THough, destroyers have a ROF penalty of 25 %. However, they are nice ships. Die too fast compared to an AF.
I am still not at home with the acronyms...AF = AssaultFrigate?
AF = Assault Frigate yes... but to be honest you need some training to get them, go for a Destroyer and then cruiser... have seen destroyers doing NPC hunting in low sec from time to time.
They are cheap too, if you want a more sturdy ship ... get a Cruiser but then you got to go up in millions to get one.
Problem with destroyers is that they are slow, have low armor and very high signature radius. Translation : they die quickly. They are meant to be used as support ships and maybe as frig busters. Flying missions with them will more than likely end up with you dying.
As for using hac's for level 4 missions ... only works if your hac's resistance bonus is countering the damage that you will be receiving during your mission. Like a vagabond or muninn could probably take on sansha and blood raider missions but would die to any other type, especialy drones/angels.
As for BS's not being able to hit small targets, nothing is forcing you to use Large Guns on your battleship. One of my most popular layouts for npc'ing in an apoc utilizes 8x Heavy Beam II's. Those are cruiser guns that have decent tracking and very long range for their size. They still have trouble hitting frigates and interceptors but they absolutely rip into cruisers and deal enough damage to destroy any npc ship in the game. You simply need to train drone skills to get rid of smaller targets or find a way to equip a good webifier to slow them down enough for your guns to track them.
BS's are still the best ships to use for level 4 missions but, with the lowered bounties and increased difficulties (fighting 3x supreme drone parasites at the same time ain't cool) it is more worth while to fly complexes and hunt in 0.0 space systems for belt rats and officer spawns (or mine if that's your thing) to make a decent amount of ISK. Yeah, I know you can still make alot off of the agent offers but, no get enough Loyalty Points now a days, you have to fly in groups of 3 or 4 and let's face it, not everyone feels like flying in gangs all the time.

If u want a good amarr ship you shuold train amarr cruier to lev 3 or 4 and buy a maller. the armor res bonus on that ship will u help u a lot. but to use any ship well u will need skills in egineering, electronics and mechanic. guns should be the last of these things to train imo.
the maller might not be a great looking ship but at least u will take more damage then most other cruisers in this game
