wow the best game in the world? NOT.

It's not a bad game, but once you hit level 60 (before I quit I had a 60 warrior, 38 paladin, 28 rogue, 25 mage, 15 druid and 15 priest) you have to enjoy 40 man raids or else there is nothing for you to do. I'm not talking about how easy it is or is not to get into a 40 man raid or how easy it is to put one together (it is actually next to impossible unless you are in a very large uber guild), what i'm talking about is your play style, if you are a casual player you most likely dont like raid group above 10 which means there is nothing for you once you get your blue set, and to get your blue set you have to do the same 3 or 4 instances dozens of times each ( I did them about 50 times, BRS (upper and lower) about 25 times, strath about a dozen and scholo about a dozen) and I never once even saw my Valor pieces drop let alone be able to roll for it, maybe that was just my bad luck but it still convinced me that it's time to quit this game.

And dont talk to me about PVP cuz to accomplish anything worthwile in PVP you have to give up your life and spend 10+ hours per day for 6 months to get the rewards.

But I did enjoy leveling my warrior to 60, that part was fun. Leveling alt's to 60? not for me, it's all the same stuff over and over again and I got bored of doing that.

WOW is a good game but it is not a game that will last 4 years the way it is set up right now. As more and more casual players hit 60 and realize what is there (or not there) for them, more and more people will leave WOW.

I would rate WOW a 6.5 out of 10, having lost points for the horrible community, it's lack of anything to do as a casual at lvl 60 and it's PVP system, and getting points for it's lvl's 1-59 gameplay.

Alright im going to have to defend this kid a bit... Well i have to agree with you. Sure it can get boring and have its downs. But this is the only game that i have played for this long and still playing it. I enjoy it a lot. One thing that makes it a lot funner is playing during the nights then talking about it with your friends the next day or playing together. So sure people may hate this game for their own reasons, and think its boring. But all those lvl 60 ppl, you must have had fun playing otherwise why would you keep playing till 60?

Wow is a great game, but like any other game it has it's flaws. I don't really believe in the term "the best game in the world".

WoW is arguably the best MMO tutorial and is quite FUN up to level 59.

The best game?  If you dont state a SSI or Black Isle product, then we wont agree! image  Althought if you state Dragon Age I will ask for insight on this forecoming title who may become the new benchmark...or not!  We will see, BGs devs are praising the title!

    "..till 60?"

Theres the crux init. TILL. UNTIL.

    After ..pfft.

I had/have (sub expired on my request 5th oct) 60 mage, 55 paladin, 48 hunter, etc etc and ya know what? I realised every class has to do the same things time after time...ad infinitum. Doesnt matter what class you have to do smae instance to get the first set of yer armour. Same old same old time after time.

    Its worse than grinding.

IMO, people who think WoW is the best game ever didn't play EQ1. WoW is just too easy - easy to solo to 60, easy raids, etc. In EQ1 it took months to level to 60 and in the meantime you really learned how to play your class, which was essential as each class had specific roles to fill in groups and you couldn't fall down on your job without wiping your group. The camaraderie this fostered was awesome and is really missing in WoW. Servers were true communities where you'd met most other players through grouping and raiding on your way up and beyond. You really felt like you were accomplishing something with each level and each new raid target killed - often after many, many attempts during which you and your guild or raid group developed your strategy and fine tuned your attack. It was really fantastic and addictive. If you were intent on soloing you were able to choose a "solo class", such as Druids, Necromancers or Wizards (quad kiting!) Even now, although they've made the game much easier than it used to be and the graphics are old, I think EQ1 is a better game than WoW.

Of course, ultimately what made EQ1 so great was the community - perhaps because not every Tom, Dick and Harry Jr. had discovered MMORPGs. Also, I would say that 90% of EQ1 players were adults and the difference from WoW's players was huge. I would probably like WoW better if it weren't for the horrible community and so many immature players. As I've indicated, I loved grouping in EQ1 but I have learned to refuse to group at all in WoW because the experiences I've had have been so terrible. WoW absolutely does not have the replayability that kept my husband and me paying for four EQ accounts for four years. I also think that with all the changes in EQ2 since release it is a far better game than WoW but the system requirements are higher and Blizzard has that built in following which keeps it leading in the subscriber base. However, that is fine, IMO, because I'd prefer all the WoW-loving, MMORPG newbie kids to stay where they are and not ruin EQ2 too.

I played WoW for a couple months, pretty regularly, which turned out to be amazing in itself.  After trying it out on a friend's comp, during the last beta stage, I had nothing put negative lip-service to give about the game, "Graphics are too cartoony/servers suck bad/story arc is crap, etc"  But I gave it another shot (out of boredom, to be honest), and soon found myself having fun with it.  I got my own account and developed a pretty kick ass lvl 51 NE Druid, till I had to put it aside (damn financial crisis image ).

If a game can win me over after a lot of negative first impressions, than I'll list that mmo under my "Good To Go" list and keep it on my comfort shelf.  But best ever?  Phoenixs has it right here, nothing really deserves the term "best in world forever and ever....(or whatever)".

BTW, new to the site here.  Just stumbled on it.  Talk about a killer find!

Could you expand on WHY you think WoW is the best game ever made and try to prove to the other users why its the best? For example, use facts like: WoW has amazing graphics and sound, NO LAGZ0R, its great for little kids, every special move has really awesome combat animations to it, excellent user interface, great character customization opitions, complex crafting system..then you could expand on all those if you want to write an essay =).

Wow was fun, for a while....

I still play it, only because theres nothing out there yet that me and my wife both enjoy - id be on EVE if my wife liked scifi :P

wow is nothing more then an archade game style mmorpg.  yes its fun, but comming from a long background in mmorpg's wow is childs play.

WoW lacks depth and the ability to deeply immerse a player into the history and story of the game.  you have a conflict that your really not partisipating in... yay!

WoW also has the worst community I have ever seen in an mmorpg - grant it most of them went to guild wars... or have learned there lesson but still has a lot of problems.   The best examples of community is DAoC, EVE and what used to be AC2 and lets not leave out AC1.

I am not an instance 20 party raid freek, I find it teadious and boring... if im going raiding in an instance its to help out...   other then that if im going raiding im leading an onslaught on some horde town, or ambushing...   if this game had no pvp i wouldnt be there...

Wow in my opintion should have stuck to what they said they were going to do back when it was in development - should have stuck to some of the concepts they had -- but thats ok

we live and learn then get luvs

Yeah for 12 year olds with a very low attention span and a low appreciation for present-gen MMORPGs.

In my opinion the Best Game in the World hasnt been invented yet and I dont think it ever will be. Video games will always have flaws, no matter what. Somethin we gotta accept, sorry for those who dont agree..

can think of at least 2 mmorpg that i think are better.

It might be biggest seller but hey highest earning movie of all time is titanic!Who even remembers it and its not even near 10 years since it was released!

You're right...WoW doesn't get boring at level 60...It's boring from level 1 on....

And before you say something, yes, I did try the game and still found it bad. And I am not a "noob" (I say this because the sentence "that's because you're a n00b!" is mostly the fanboi's last line of defense).

I agree with you for the most part.  Until I found a few players that were looking for a gaming experience like I was, a lot of my gaming time was spent either avoiding idiots or worrying that someone I might be grouped with was an idiot.  Thing is, you're going to find those types in ALL online games.  I've heard plenty of negative things about the communities in the games you've mentioned, too.

WoW is boring after level 60 (or sooner as noted by some others). Up to level 60 it's pretty much a standard FRPG (that has been dumbed down a lot) with some PvP. After that there really is no advancement of your character. The only way to improve permanetly is to go on 40 man raids to get some decent upgrades to your armor or weapons. There is no skill or ability advancement what so ever.

Your choices are either join a guild that raids MC or better and then have to go on raids constantly and hope that you get a nice drop and build up your DKP or what ever the guild uses. Or you have to go out and constantly PvP and not take a break for any reason. So they give you a choice. You can either jump on a treadmill or run in a hamster wheel. Either way your really don't get anywhere.

Questing? Why bother if the rewards are basically useless. Yes the challenge is there but how many times do you really want to spend the time doing a quest only to get an item you are going to sell to a vendor for spare change? Bah.

Don't get me wrong. WoW is not an bad game.  But it is no where as addictive or challenging as other games that have come before it. Maybe WoW will improve and get more depth in the future but at this time it's really EQ Light.

that is the truth!  it's not taxing at all to play WoW.  Only time it gets to difficulty setting "medium" is in the lvl 60 instances that require a raid (20-40 people).  And then it's heal the main tank and dish out the damage.  there is no character customization at all with the exception of what color hair you want or if you want a beard (for males) or piercings (for females).

Yet I still play this game more than any other because I'm bored.

  • ErethornErethorn Member Posts: 63

I have a question. What MMORPG is NOT boring at endgame. I mean, once you reach your level cap, what game offers new challenges besides PVP ? I'm playing WOW at the moment, but I'm worried that once I reach 60, I won't have anything to do, besides farming instances for uberitems and farming the BG for honor. It's a great game and great fun atm, but I can easily see it geting boring in a month or two.

So, is there a game that offers more to the casual player that has reached the max level ?

Sorry had to reply.  The community in WOW is very young indeed and one of the things I hated about   the game was the lack of maturity. I can remember grinding 600 gold in  3 days with minimal sleep to buy a Destiny sword off a 16 year old  , even after i gave her a down payment on it of  100 gold, only for her to  say "nah, I change my mind".  Yeah maybe I shouldn't of wasted 3 days grinding  for gold, but at the time  that sword was the baddest  sword on the server and I already had been one of the first to get an epic mount which cost me 900g. I quit shortly thereafter.

I've played almosrt every rpg out there from back in the day and I can  say honestly WOW is the best game I ever played. Now The end game sucks and I know this because I have friends who   quit because doing 50  raid runs and losing rolls everytime for some epic item sucks and is not fun, it becomes a job. But to me the game ended shortly after I reached lvl 60, and if you look at it that way and forget about all the end game  crap , yes it's the greatest game ever made. I don't know one  person who didn't shit themselves the first time they walked into Stormwind or Burning Steppes. I know a guy in his late 30's who plays and he told me he  hadn't felt that  since back when he was a kid watching Star Wars on the big screen and seeing that Star Destroyer appear for the first time. Yeah graphics arent photo realistic but they work and give the world an  enormous epic feel. The Music is  incredible, the quests are entertaining, the characters, places, stories are  memorable,  and the game is just fun as hell, period.

Blizzard knows how to make games, and they make  good ones.  For 3 months I left planet earth and was teleported to the World of Warcraft and I'll never forget it.

P.S. Tried the Everquest 2 trial and REALLY liked it, gonna start playin that baby this weekend. Peace.

    I quit wow as a lvl 33 warrior, a lvl 23 rogue and a level 21 mage.

I'll go back to it this winter because it's not a bad game.  there are too many good games coming out pre-holiday that I want to play.  Once done with those, I'll load up wow again.

Well with all the free content they add every month, and the upcoming expansion, yes, at the moment, WoW to me is the best game in the world and is the only game I find enjoyable to play!

If they keep this up, it will still remain the best game in the world to me!

If the expansion blows, or they stop adding free content every month, the game will suck!

I mean like any previous MMORPG I've played, the devs were amazing, the game kept having more and more stuff, then they become lazy, the expansions they released were pure crap, the game felt like I had done everything humanly possible, so I left.

Blizzard is still holding up! What scares me is the day they decide to not hold up anymore. So only time will tell.

Cause yes, atm, if you don't have at least 2 level 60 alts and least 3 epic purple items in your inventory, then there's a problem. Level 1 to 59 is fun, has lotsa content. But level 60 has just as much content too.
