If this is how they treat NEW subscribers...

I've been meaning to join a mmorpg for a while now, but between running an older computer (pentium III) and having an internet connection that a snail could outrun, I just gave up...until I was at my local Wal Mart and remembered Ultima Online. I figured my system could run it (if it can run morrowind, it should be able to run this) so I paid my $10 and went home.... ::::36::

...I subscribed...entered in my credit info...and it said that this was an unsecure connection, so I threw caution to the wind and hit "ok" IMMEDIATLY the message came up again so I flew the bronx flag in the face of the fates and a THIRD TIME it came up immediatly...so I hit "NO" which apparently means "NO UO FOR YOU" I tried to log in, but it said I was BANNED...."Banned?" I thought "Why I haven't even gotten my feet wet" ::::04::

I checked my account info and the CC is listed, but it said I was not registered for any UO products. So after a slightly frustrating search through the misleadingly titled "support" section I emailed my customer service bretherin asking them to give me some advice. There was a message at the bottom saying how while they TRY to respond within 24 hours , it is not always possible. Hey, I've been in customer service for over a decade, I can appreciate that. So I waited..patiently...still yearning to get into some mmorpging....once I hit the 48 hour mark I attempted to call the "support hotline" HAHAHAHAHA......it was a RECORDING/.....so I waited through it, pressed 2 and listened to an endless number of options just to hear "if you are having problems with your account, please email our support site" 5 minutes of my life wasted. ::::26::

So, I emailed again explaining that I was a NEW subscriber blah blah blah, explaining the situation....and here I sit over 100 hours later with ZERO response to either email, a banned account that I haven't ever been able to log into and $10 that I could have spent on gas. ::::27::

Thanks EA I love you too...

    This doesn't make much sense.

Unless you are trying to upgrade an existing banned account from your past with the Gold UO edition you just purchased.

Did you use the "NEW ACCT CODE" on the top or the code on the bottom?

If you follow the directions as a new customer and set the account up for a new UO account, then you should be fine -and- you should also get 45 days of free game time! You also will get an advance character to get a character off with some very decent and fun starting skills to starth things off with.

You probably are not getting a response back from EA support because they are as confused as I am as to what is going on with your banned account status it seems that you are trying to restart. Just create a new account and be happy :)

    Thanks for the advice Zaxtor.

I did as you suggestedand everything went through.  I was pretty sure I put the right code in, but perhaps I entered something in wrong.  The funny this is that about 5 minutes after I did all that I received an email (about a week after I initially signed up) from support saying they were looking into it.

I guess I've worked in customer service too long, I would have expected an email much quicker than that.  Especially when they say they try to answer questions within 24 hours and it was more like 144 hours.   I'm just kind of pickey that way.

Although, I have a Necromancer now and will be able to do a lot more with my daughter not here.

One time I decided to go back to UO after Trammel to join up with some friends. They wanted me to get a new expansion so I could go where they did. So I purchased it using the information in an e-mail I received, got in game and still had no access to the new areas. I was pretty peeved. I called a # I found after searching the UO site for quite awhile. They told me I had purchased access but would not be able to access it. I was so livid. That was basically a quote. For the first time I got mad at someone over the phone and spoke to a supervisor. They came on and pretty well much told me that I paid for it, but will not get access. So I got peed off again and asked why I was paying for something I cannot use, and saying that I would call my CC company blah blah blah, basically a lot of nonsense cause I was upset. They then activated the new areas for me so I could enjoy what I paid for. Then the price dropped in half for the expansion 2 weeks later LOL. Ahwell.
