TERA: Big Plans for the Fall

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

The TERA site has been updated with a new post from En Masse Entertainment Producer Chris Hager. In it, Hager lays out some of the big changes in store for TERA as the fall progresses. He hints at small-scale live events, weekend "TERA-wide" events and seasonal activities as well as the continued addition of new content to the game.

Content? We’ve got that coming too! Crafting quests are coming back next week, the long-awaited berserker patch will arrive shortly after that, and we’re rebalancing instances and adding new achievements. We’re also making significant changes to enchanting based on player feedback—changes we’ll roll out over the course of a few builds later this fall (more specifics on this as we confirm changes). Another large content update (similar in size to Argon Queen) is in the works, but if I go into any more detail, I may not make it back for the next producer letter.

Read the full letter on the TERA site.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just waiting for the day when Frogster finally gives up on the EU version and hands it over to En Masse. We really got the short straw on this one.

I just don't know why BlueHole chose Frogster for the EU, surely they would have researched a little before picking this simply awful company.

Heh...I thought from the title the article was going to discuss the closing of TERA.

Got to work on my negativity more.

Glad to hear they are continuing to improve and update the title.  Who knows, one day I might give it another shot.

Well unless they are intending to include the f2p changes, they are wasting everyone's time.  The game is just not worth a subscription, period.

I don't consider temporary events as content. And more content is exactly what Tera needs. Right now it is only a eye-candy hack and slash.

....with what could be considered the best combat system in any MMO... which makes it all the rougher.

Tera has a lot of promise.  However, I think it'll be stunted mostly because EME isn't responsible for its core development (bluehole is).

I have a feeling large updates will be few and far between unfortunately.

Still too many vague assurances of stuff happening to make a difference.  The combat is great, but even that gets to eh after weeks of using it.  That's a real problem the developers face, where shiny new game ideas and mechanics become same old, same old quicker than they'd like.

Id be back if getting end game loot wasnt an insane grind multiplied by triple random.

Theres literally a ton of ways that En Masse could improve Tera but they cant do anything.

DO they mean fall as in the season, or fall as being short for downfall?

the arqon queen can be nice.... if i can get a grpe to do it. server merge is ok not more. battleground are the worse pvp i ever saw (*need to do battleground to get best pve accesory stuff QQ) well tera is going down in population maybe in 3month this game was definetly died. i hope new non-korean mmo can learn from the aim system of tera cause they make the gameplay fun

More cash-shop, teases, and a surprise returned of lost crafting will not do much to improve the sinking ship this game is headed towards (and half-way there).  They've already added Free-To-Play GM-Events that plenty MMO's without a subscription have.  The game been handled around poorly by both publishers(including the now merged GameForge aka Frogster) and majority of players have left.

The game is simply not worth the subscriptions or impulse-buy cash-shops of the same aim and hit combat that can be found on older MMO's such as Dungeon and Dragons, Vindictus, or Dragon-Nest or Monster-Hunter.

Will defiantly be looking foward towards Blade and Soul, whom is actively communicating with their fans right now and promises that they will not be censoring their product(or insulting potential customers) but providing the best experiences and content for their players(and no boring grind-fests).

Tera may get a bit content here or there but ultimately it's being handled by the same guys who chose to selectively ignore their players since launch in a now last-minute save (or future F2P set-up).
