From DirtySteve. "...I fully agree, if they are running out of money that is one thing. But when I discovered IO in the middle of summer, all they told us was "It will be released when its ready! I certainly feel VERY betrayed. However, I do support MHS.
specusci, your support for companies that release unfinished work is what allows it to continue... Yet you felt very betrayed, you contradict yourself.
I played Irth for 1 day. That's it. I found it absolutly horrible. I don't know what it was, but I couldn't find my way around, and the graphics didn't appeal to me. Anyways I would NEVER pay that much for it. Again, I emphasize NEVER
Originally posted by Jorev DnL is certainly not at the top of my list, looked at it and quickly disregarded any notion of even trying it. The game I am waiting to try is Pirates of the Burning Sea. Until then, I will also be trying to beat CIV 4 on the most difficult settings possible. As for the suggestion that players who support Irth Online should open an account to do so, I say NO WAY. That is absurd. Too many games are released incomplete and buggy, and players should not support this unprofessional conduct. You don't see this kind of behavior in other industries. It's unfortunate that gaming companies aren't being forced to recall product that does not deliver what is advertised. There are a lot of games being released in the near future, and some of them deserve to die a quick death, as well as some games already out that have outlived their usefulness. I would like to see only a dozen or so real quality games out there that are supported by large playerbases.

They try to concialite PvE and PvP players on the same server. As a PvE player I am not really versed in the tradeskills myself, but I recognize a try and a noble adventure when I see it.
Most games take either the PvE or the PvP approach. WoW take both and figure it out relatively nicely, but the PvE and PvP players dont play on the same servers.
Irth try to make PvE and PvP players happy on the same servers. I am not convinced that they will succeed, but they start on the right road.
But some of my friends are PvPers, some are PvEers, and we want to do stuff together from time to time, with our main toons. And Irth is exploring a possible solution.
DnL completely shaft the PvE players, they are limited to the starting zones and they are denied the best rewards, this is the PvP road, DAoC and CoV take it as well. Others games take the PvE road, like EQ and FFXI, but then the PvPers are not even welcome in the game...althought in the case of EQ there was PvP servers and some efforts.

After all their promises about how they will never cheat their fans, and how they will only release a finished product, and how they are different from those greedy large corporations, etc.,.....Magic Hat Software shows that they are only interested in making a quick buck to buy their Mercedes and BMWs. Many people are just dying to give their hard-earned money to these liars, so that these Magic Hatters can live the good life at your expense. But, if all you get is a half-finished game for your money, you're better off giving your money to Hurricane Katrina victims. I'm sure they won't be using your money to buy a BMW.
Originally posted by kishe I do believe this is yet another publiticy stunt tough...nobody even mentioned irth for long time before they released press release and now it's all over in all mmorpg related boards...i bet 1st of nov will come and go and magic hat will release press release on 10th of december telling that "Sorry sorry...we'll release 1st of jan!!"
A publicity stunt?
For what purpose ...to piss off the already dwindling fan base? Well from the sound of it ...you guys are livid.
It would appear that this release date is what the devs intend. You even have one of them (Brawlking) confirming it.
"We have not scammed anyone, nor will we. We intend to release a functioning product on Nov. 1st. We do have a lot of work to do and a short time to do it in, but we have every intent to release a working product on November 1st."
I still have not the faintest clue what I was talking about yesterday.
As far as Irth goes, Who know's perhaps they will magically pull a game out of their hat. They have just slightly more then 20 day's to pull it off. I doubt it will happen, but hey People have also won the lottery although I have never met one.
Yeah it was a shame. But guys I have to admit, I stopped following up the game, as soon as I started to watch them heavily market it. You know what I mean, the prizes they were offering...Alienware PCs....the game wasn't anywhere close to done and they were already pulling off such marketing competitions. You pull competitions like those when close to launch, and I predicted it would by the end of this year, and if not, the begining of next year. I am quite suprised too, but I did expect it.
Edit: I would hate to say this Kishe, but those prize giveaways and competitions, gave me the idea that the game would be released by the end of this year...otherwise begining of next year latest. I mean you don't give such great prizes without good reason.
And for once, I agree with Jorev....no MMORPG has the right to be released before it is ready to be a good game. Irth Online, is still not in that position. They should release Irth Online, when the beta testers believe the game is good enough for release. Like WoW did, World of Warcraft released before it was finished. Nobody cared, cause they had time to enjoy the quests, PvP and the game world. The game itself was properly done and ready, same for the game world and quests. It was in a position to be released to the public....while it still had the Honour System missing and battlegrounds feature missing. Those came into the game later on. Actually this is why it has taken so long for them to announce their Add-On.

Well, Irth is innovative on 1 aspect.

Not
Ready
Irith is now officially garbageware
Buyer beware: It's not ready. Give it a year or so and it'll be what it should be at launch. IF it survives.
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
