Runic Games has no plans on making any type of a MMO soon.

Acording to Runic CEO Max Schaefer he is quoted as saying:

"While we have no plans to begin work on an MMO, that's partly because we have no plans, period!" A interesting stance. I wonder if they feel that the MMO market is to saturated all ready? He does however go on to state that ... "not 100 percent certain." also Erich Schaefer states that "It's pretty up in the air,"

So hmm down play to say the least. What better way to keep focus off a gaming company by stating they are not expecting to be developing any type of MMO's I personally would not be surprised if they do make a MMO unofficially.

A lot of what they do is going to depend on Perfect World's input and money. If PW doesn't want a Torchlight MMORPG, then it's not too likely to happen. On the upside though, they have brought up personal servers for TL2, where players could manage and run their own servers, like Minecraft. This seems like a pretty good idea to me. :-) With personal servers and mods available, it seems fairly likely that a TL2 MMORPG would be possible, if some technical details were changed/worked out with the client.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I think maybe the Schaefer's are giving away to David Brevik Marvel Heroes

A game doesn't have to be an MMO to be good. I don't mind it at all, the biggest thing that really plays a part is having the option for multiplayer and having it feel like it fits in and works well. So long as friends can play all together it shouldn't matter that much.

I was in the Mythos beta, so I know they can make a good MMO. Hope they change their mind.

They had to get PWs permission to even make Torchlight as a single player ARPG.  It was a smart move as it allowed them to establish the brand and sell a million copies off of just one years labors.  If they aren't making an MMO, then Perfect World must have lowered the priority of a TL MMO.  I think they could have released a TL MMO by now, but not with their small team.

I am pretty sure Bathesda said the same thing about an Elder Scrolls MMO.

Erich Schaefer  and Max Shaefer left blizzard north for that same reason. they wanted to make a mmo out of d3 and i think blizzard changed idea or in the end  maybe?its was bad idea to have 2 mmo competing,, i dunno, here his quotes,

“When I was working at Blizzard a million years ago we were working on Diablo 3 and it was an MMO. We were going to do the Diablo version of World of Warcraft.”
