Character creation feels like the biggest joke ever!

Why do the Devs ignore one of the most important things MMOs offer to gamers: Character creation/Customization. Rift failed because of this, Secret world failed because of this, Swtor failed because of this. Why do Devs of a company with this huge experience dont think about it? I created a PS2 character and was shocked. It was so über generic and boring, i thought i was playing a game from 1993...

I can not believe it!

You can't have character customization in a game that allows thousands of toons to appear on your screen at once, you'd need a NASA computer to run it.

Also this is a military game and armies wear uniforms. Without uniforms it would be hard to tell friend from foe.

I totally agree, I feel like you should at least be able to change the face between more than a few options. At least give us a character with a silly mustache or something. I know this is a serious game, but if you give people the ability to identify uniqueness between chracters it will strengthen te community more than anything. Everyone wants to have a face ya know? You should be able to tell thier chracter apart from another or else you get into an early WoW scenerio where everyone picked the same skin and it was impossible to distinguish another other than names.

This is actually a "funny" complaint. You really can't SEE the features of the character you create. In fact, you can only see the lower jaw on most classes and not even that on one of them. These are ARMIES not individuals wearing their own custom armor. This is not an "rpg".

I agree with the above posters saying these are armies... You don't really need a deep, face and body build customization.

However, I believe you're gonna get or can get different camo's and decals to put on your armor and vehicles.

This does actually bug me somewhat. There's only three heads with no permutations. I know you don't see it most, or close to any of the time unless you are offered a helmet toggle or cosmetic items that replace the helmet, but I still liked the small bit of variety there was in the original Planetside. You don't need alot, just enough to make a bit of visual distinction.

Crytic MMO's have the best Character creation out there but the games failed the expectation. Character creation is  must in every mmo but is just a small issue on a huge list of things that can make an MMo fail.

I miss CO character creation but I don't miss the game.

But the game is highly mass pvp orientated, the developers priorities will be performance over rp considerations.

Cryptic MMOs do have awesome character creation and variety, but never forget they're instanced as heck.

Most shooters aren't about character customization. If you play good or bad enough, other players will remember you by name. In the heat of battle, you won't have time to study your opponent's facial features, because he'll be putting a clip of bullets in your face.

You can customize your character by unlocking certifications, and you can also unlock skins for armor and vehicles. That's it and that's all that's neccessary.

edit: I should emphasize that 'most shooters' aren't about customizing the unneccessary bits of your character's appearance, like facial features, hair color, etc.  At least PS2 allows you to select your gender and race/ethnicity.  Some games (BF2) didn't even let you do that.

What's important is knowing who is friend or foe.  I don't care what color their hair is, or how big their nose is, I just need to see the color of their armor.

Don't fret, you will be afforded the opportunity to spend hundreds of dollars customizing your character in the cash shop, thereby funding the game for the rest of us who are actually interested in playing it.

If you spent any time at all on the PS2 forums you would have seen one of the Dev posts explain that character customization will be added later on in the beta testing process.

It's seriously like one of the first stickies that anyone with or without access can read.

    Off Topic:
Some of you neo-MMOers are such spoiled ignorant brats. PS2 Beta IS NOT A FREE TRIAL. It's a f*cking beta. Start testing and stop crying about things that have been specifically stated to be altered, balanced, added, or removed at a later date.

You have enough time and intelligence to post here. There's no excuse for you to not browse the official forums every so often to rid us of all of your constant stupidity. =)

Neo-MMOers... I play MMOs since UO... But nevermind. I dont gibe a f..... I am posting here at not on the official forums.
I think alot of PS2 players come from the MMORpg crowd and there will be more girls then in any other normal shooter. The devs have to cater to this crowd and not to the joeaverage shooter kid like you are.
