MMOFPS. any ideas?

Hey all!

I'm looking for a MMOFPS game that has a lvling/progression/item system like in the normal MMORPG games. Any ideas? I played planetside for a while but this game is not really what I was looking for.

Basicly something like you create a unique character. lvl 1, kill mobs to progres... find or buy better armor/guns and get higher lvl with ofcourse large pvp battles :-)

    a MMOFPS is a Massive multiplayer online First person shooter, but shooters are allways MMOFPS.

    ne ways if U are looking for a good MMORPG, that is free, look for

    Thang Online, Xiah, Knight Online, Martial heroes( DO2).

    also look out for a mmorpg called SUN really looking awesome. :)

    thanks for the reply, but this is not really a answer to my question.

    I played classical MMORPG's like Star Wars galaxies, World of Warcraft and Lineage2.

    What I'm looking for is a FPS like Planetside only with leveling progress based on XP. Customisation. Items/weapons/armor you can loot or buy from NPC vendors (and players)

     

    what I basicly trying to say is, I want something like World of Warcrat only in First Person mode with arcade action instead of point and click and the dice system

    I do not know of many really good MMOFPS's out there... after planetside is there really one at the same level? Now I know that there is at least one MMOFPS that is coming down the line... it is called HUXLEY. This game really has piqued my intrest  as it seems to really meld the FPS and RPG games into one. It is a true FPS but with really strong RPG'g... the graphics are well beyond Planetside (which are good). 

    Bad news is that it's a year away...

    please let me know if you find a TRUE MMOFPS, as there is a lot of FPS's out there but few MMO level ones

    There is America's Army.. It's an FPS, but it's full PvP. Personally i'd count it as an RPG, because you're "supposed" to act like a soldier..  There is the game Savage that's free now, the downside to this game, is yes you can lvl, but only during each hour (about) match, your levels do not carry over to new games. It can be a FPS, there are many guns if you are a human, and staffs and stuff for the beasts. I'm not aware of any game that has COMPLETELY what you're looking for.. there are MMORPG's out there that have weapons (i.e. bows and such) that would enable you to shoot stuff.. but nothing that is solely an FPS/RPG comes to mind.

    true, but it follows the classical MMORPG rules. Getting higher lvl, party, pvp... and it uses the old DnD Dice rulessystem

    Wouldnt half-life 2 require a ton of resources from your PC in order to show the amount of in game character associated with an MMORPG? I think it would be too slow to play or everything would have to be on its slowest. However, there are RPG mods for half life 2. One is one the third party games list, and the other I cant remember. But I did look into it quite deeply (makes me ashamed to forget the name). It had servers of 32 people max. You actually leveled and gained xp. I read posts of people hiding in vents killing others, and then mods banning for camping and other such stuff because of the amount of XP they were gaining.

    Endless Age's, Face of Mankind, Neocron 2 are really the only MMOFPS games out there right now that have a leveling system like a MMORPG.. Face of Mankind is in Open Beta if im not mistaken and the other 2 have been out for a few years.

    As people are saying Neocron 2 and Endless Ages are pretty much your only choices at the moment. Neocron 2 has what you ask for, although the combat system is similar to Morrowind rather than a 'proper' FPS, while Endless Ages is rather strange. Personally I'd go for Endless Ages out of the choice of the two.

    Neither are exactly overpopulated.

    Gunz can be an O.K. past-time. But it is deffinately not what the OP is looking for.
