Question for long time player (Oursurlaert lag) ?

Just wondering, is Oursurlaert always been laggy like that ?  I only been playing for 2 weeks and both week-end it's been hell, 300+ players all the time there, tons of lag.  I'm wondering how they can expect trial player to subscribe when most of them get send in this laggy pit after the tutorial.... not a good way to show the game to new players.

I'm not a long time player. But I think I know the reason. Oursurlaert is the area after the tutorial for those people who play Gallente, and most new players do. The other "starting" areas aren't that crowded. I think CCP is working hard on removing the problem. They have asked Corp's and Players who don't have dire needs to be in Oursurlaert to move to other regions. I think they are awaiting a new hardware shipment too.
It's been quite bad lately. And you are right, it's not so good that the first thing new players experience is heavy lag.

Also many stations with multilevel missions.

The system is the victim of its own success. All you need mission-wise is regrouped in that system, so its a beautiful place to have a base in.

I recall the days when oursulaert was filled with max 40 to 50 people. In those days Luminaire was the hub of commerce. I moved to Oursulaert because it was close to the hubs yet was not so laggy (a bit ironic if I see how it is today). 2 big changes in the game universe made oursulaert an important system for Agent Runners (since there are a lot there), Traders (good spot to sell), Producers, and Researchers alike.

All in all I still like oursulaert, not only for the in game advantages, but also since that system makes you feel like you play a MMO game. The Gates and the vicinity of stations are filled with players. All in all it really gives the fee lof a busy system. CCP has already announced upgrades and relocations of server resources, yet till thos ecome to frution several weeks and moths will pass, since its not that easy to get the equipment they need in the next Electronic Hardware shop around the corner.

A fast solution for new players (who do missions) would be to look for agents that are equal to those found in oursulaert, but are in a bit more away system. You can do that by viewing the info of the npc corp you qwish to do missions for and then go to the agent tab. There you can view all agents of that corp, listed according to branch and availability to you. Check a few agants and the systems the reside and you should be fine.
