The good news, right now there are ten full, twelve high and two medium servers on the U.S. side, so I'd say we managed to dodge the predicted mass exodus that some expected on this day.

Sorry, but I have some bad news for you. Very little of the sample time included time when MoP was live in NA. So how about we check back on this chart tomorrow, same time?

What time was MoP live in NA today? Has it been down all day?
Volkons OP says that was the count when he posted, that was an hour and 15 minutes ago or basically primetime east coast USA. Are you claiming MoP was not live an hour ago?
So... Forgive me for asking this question, but xfire measures only those with xfire installed, so i play GW2 but don't use xfire, then i am not counted, correct?
So these numbers represent those that use xfire and not the over all player base?
Reason I ask is because the graph on WoW that was posted shows that more people are currently playing GW2 on the 25th then playing WoW on the 25th. But wow has like 9 million active subscriptions and GW2 only sold what like 2.2 million boxes?
From my take on this, I would guess xfire may not be the best measurement of how a game is doing. It may show a trend about people who use xfire that are playing the game, but it seems kinda far fetched to say a game is doing good or bad based on the numbers provided by xfire. Course, this is my take and i wasn't exactly around for the storm that was swtor.
To the op however- did you die when you fell off the cliff? Cause i noticed that if i am at full health, i have yet to find a cliff dive where jumping would kill me.
I'm sorry but the only one saying anything about the second coming is you. Fans of a game accept its flaws and strengths.

Lol. Tbh I wasn't really worried about that, but sorry to hear about your Orr event, lmfao.
You gotta be kinda careful there, even if you don't run off a cliff, it's not uncommon to have a random zombie yank you across the map and start munching on your brains.

How is that good news? wasn't every server full/high in the first weeks? Also on xfire (which can't be manipulated by Anet) gw2 is pretty much tanking (from 93k hours to 51.5k in 3 weeks, and before mop came out). Even SWTOR had better player retention 1 month after its release.
I think it's 38k right now
[mod edit]
Well it was relevent when SWTOR was, 'dying', according to these forums....
I suppose the magic of GW2 makes anything negative, agenda-based nonsence eh?
I suppose that if you assume one thing is true in one case that it is true in all?
Well, I can't speak for who you responded to but I for one don't think that one case makes it true for all. But since it showed accurate trends for AOC, WAR, TOR, DCU, TSW, Rift, TERA, and every other medium and above sized mmo over the last 6 or 7 years, I think it has shown its worth at detecting trends within a game. It is less than useless at comparing between games, but has been extremely usefull for checking out trends within games.

I have to laugh at that. I did exactly the same thing and I did end up quitting and going to bed.
I was playing my engineer and trying to get one of the Vistas on top of a mountain. In my delerium instead of jumping I pushed a skill that makes me fly backwards.....straight off the cliff and ended up being deady bones. Had a laugh at least.

The OP was going off of the in game servers from GW2. They have NOTHING to do with Xfire. He was stating that the GW2 servers are not empty as some claimed might happen today. You quoted the OP which had NOTHING to do with Xfire. Read the OP and try again.
Be interesting to see how many people play WoW and GW2 together or swap between. Most of my friends are swapping between GW2, Vanguard and EvE. None of them are playing or considering WoW at all.
I have never touched WoW and even though its off topic, I don't have Xfire installed. So I will be one of the players that doesn't show up on Xfire and won't be moving to WoW.

Can you point me to a formally released definition of what those server status' actually mean? I don't believe it is what you think it means - has it revealed why there are virtually no overflow servers required anywhere anymore, for example?
So in the absence of useful formally provided information from Anet, I am much more interested in the statistically significant sample of users on Xfire, and what the trend shows.
[I don't really care what the OP feels is a reliable way of viewing the impact of another product on this one. Especially if it isn't!]

Easy way to tell that the server status is players online at the moment. Try to create a new character on a currently full server. Get a message saying server is full. Go back to the server at say 4 am when it might say medium or high and try to make character, see how the server lets you because it is NO LONGER FULL. This concludes the educational portion of our program.
The fact is the servers are not empty on the day MoP was released. Some said today would be the day GW2 died, its not.

How is the Xfire crowd statistically significant when if they were all on at the same time they would fill one server? 2 million or more boxes sold and to you 11k Xfire players is statistically significant? Only for a hater who wants to play pretend.

- alright it looks like I am wrong on this point as it is now showing 3 medium and the rest high, none full - just after midnight EST. However we still do not know what these categories actually mean in terms of online numbers. XFire is still the best source of trend information we have

9k out of 2 million is not significant. It can show a trend among those people only, it is not proof of a trend in game. You sound like a political pollster who thinks asking 2000 people in a state shows what the whole state of 7 million think.
You think the servers only change when someone transfers off that server? Talk about amusing and uninformed. Go on at 4am EST time and see what the servers say. If they match what the servers say right now you might have a point, but I have looked at that time and they dont match.
If the server says full of course it wont let you on. Wow imagine that. You sure showed me how knowledgable you are about this game right there.

Well, you know funnily enough I live in Australia, so it is really easy for me to see what it says at 4am EST. Guess what, it supports what I have already told you, it shows the same thing. (At least it did yesterday and previous days, so I am guessing it will today too).
Interesting fact everyone in this thread (most at least) is overlooking... if you begin to fall asleep, your finger will continue to hold the "W" key down.

Its at this point I dismiss you as a liar. It does not show the same thing. Its not due to people switching servers. Go play WoW since you seem to be a fan and stop trolling here. When you first posted you thought the OP was talking about Xfire. From the start you have been unable to know the truth. Nothing has changed.
You are also wrong on there being no overflows anymore. Sunday 1 PM I stepped out of DR(human starting city) and into the overflow server. So far it seems everything you say is of dubious honesty at best.

The incidence of overflow servers has gone from ever-present to almost nowhere to be seen.

I am on at 4 am EVERY DAY. I dont need an alarm to see what I see every single night I play. Do you really think I would use a time that I have not been there and seen before? Sorry but unlike some other posters I tend to use things I have seen instead of making them up and hoping I am right.
Overflow still happens in the low level human area on my server, you can claim anything you want. You can deny truth all you want. Nothing you say changed reality in any way. Your claims are not true. You can say them 25 times and reword them any way you want, you still cant bend reality to fit your version of it.

Oderint, dum metuant.
Instead of being obnoxious and rude, set your alarm for 4am and go check yourself.
The incidence of overflow servers has gone from ever-present to almost nowhere to be seen.
Oderint, dum metuant.
