Lower monthly price??

Blizzard charges 14$ a month to play WoW, and yet they have over 4 million players world wide each paying that amount, you think they would lower the price to something more reasonable like 10$ a month...

you'd think that. unfortunatly, the only thing any mmo company cares about is the bottom line.

I wish they would lower the prices to 10$ seems fair they would still get a ton of money besides ive recommended wow to so many of my friends the main....and only reason they wont join is because the price they dont wanna pay 14 per month i love wow its my favorite online rpg but even i must say it is a little bit overpriced.

Yea, all the things I could do with 4 bucks. Wauw.... like.... so much. 4$ is not something to start complaining about :P I mean, it's not even a super menu at MacDonalds

I cant believe people are still whining about mmorpg costs. Look, servers cost money. You use bandwith and thus you pay for the bandwith you use and the services you get. 14$ is nothing on a month, but Blizzard needs it to maintain the servers.

(Maybe we should even pay more because servers are screwed sometimes ;P)

Considering that they have their own servers, they don't really pay for bandwidth.

I guess if you're under 18, or on welfare, $15 a month might seem like alot, but given the amount of money I spend going out to eat, to a movie, or to the bar, $15 a month is a drop in the bucket, particularly if you spend any amount of time playing.

Frankly, I'd be all for them upping the price on MMO's as it would likely help weed out some of the asshats.

Blizzard will charge what the market will bear. Obviously if they've surpassed 4 million players, the market is quite happily bearing the cost. It wouldn't make any sense financially or logically for them to lower the price at this time.

Besides, the goal of a business isn't to break even and just support the infrastructure. It's to make profit. Taking away $20,000,000 a month just to be nice is quite a hit.

They'll make the price any price the consumer is willing to pay and if they've made it at such a price, well, there's a market for it.

All (some?) European servers are hosted by an outside source. Telia.

fact they own the servers do not mean they own all the ISPs nor the internet nor the cable lines now does it?

    So true ::::20::

Regarding the price I don't think they will lower it for quite some time. Maybe when the game is 2-3 years old. But if people still want to pay the price, why lower it? It is after all why a company makes a game. To make money, you think they do it so that we can be happy?

The numbers reported by Blizzard are not real numbers, but marketing promotions. The fact is that people have been dropping from WOW like flies since mid summer. Check your own server stats.

Lower price means developers get paid less, which means they might become more lazy than they already are! I'd rather pay more for more content and better customer support (Which is improving btw!)

Whoever complains 14$ per month is expensive should STOP BUYING OTHER GAMES! I mean for crying out loud, I hear people all the time that say they are gonna buy the Xbox 360, or just purposed the latest title... STOP BUYING GAMES!!! If you find 14$ a month too expensive to play a game that'll take up all your time, then why are you spending 50$ for a game per month that only lasts you 10-50 hours???

You have no clue what you are talking about.   You don't get free bandwidth to an ISP just because you own a few servers.

It's funny that someone is saying they they should only pay $10 as opposed to $14 dollars a month. I ask that person to look at their budget.

You probably blow 10-30X that $4 dollar difference on stupid crap like buying cigs, candy bars which give you a benefit for like 30 seconds, buying overpriced drinks at clubs or buying soda at restaurants instead of just having water, either way, my point is that you probably blow way more than $4 on stupid crap each month that you don't even get close to the value with.

It's like my brother's friend, he's too cheap to pay $20 for cable, yet will pay $2,500 for an exhaust pipe on his motorcycle.

Wow, you can add. Good job, /golfclap
I think we all said that because we assumed all of us here are intelligent, obviosuly the original poster and the rest who replied him were wrong.

Anyways. im 15. And $15 does sorta sound like a lot to me, but not really.
Parents tend to give their kids a little leeway and privelages for making good grades at a high-end highschool and dont say they feed me and clothe me as a privelage, because I could be a straight F student and they would still do that, it is their responsibility.

Next to that I work at Publix and I do NOT have an allowance and am payed for high PSAT, FCAT scores and good report cards grades.

I think if some of these kids as old as I am or a bit younger would realize that games arent everything and even though I game ALOT, I still spend a lot of time at work and doing schoolwork and homework.

I completely understand the server situation and bandwith prices and etc and I think I would be a bit more careful with the games I played if the price went up to $20, I also agree it would "weed out some of the asshats".
