Looking for a mmorpg with.....

hey im looking for a game with a wide open world that you can explore, also many races/class's so not everyone looks the same, able to own your own house, player owned shops. lots of quests. lots of items/weapons/armors etc.

i dont care if its pay to play or not.

an example if any of you have played it is materia magica. that free mud. im looking for a game like that but graphical. or maybe even guild wars but able to play solo and can actually see players outside of town.
and a high max level. i dont mind grinding too much as long as it isnt as bad as mu online global

Well, lets see...World of Warcraft meets some of your specifications, though there is no player owned housing in that game. Final Fantast XI is another title which comes to mind, it has nice player owned housing, and a nice big world to explore. I can't really comment further on FFXI though since its been almost two years since I last played that game. Finally, a third title I would recommend is Anarchy Online. You'll love AO if you like sci-fi themes and don't mind dated graphics. So yah, as far as I know, those are your options.image

You may be interested in the Saga of Ryzom from what you've put. It has a very open skill system so noone is really the same in it ;)

Well, AO isn't entirely free...allow me to clarify.

The basic AO package (without any expansions) is free to play, until January of 2006, I believe. However, players who do not have access to any of the expansion pack content miss out on alot of zones and gear. So basically, the free accounts are a means of pulling you into the game so that you decide to buy the expansion packs (Shadowlands and Alien Invasion). Once these packs are activated, your account becomes a regular monthly-pay-plan one. So yah, there's always a catch.
