The game didn't even work on my PC.
My PC/network works fine, but I could not even create an account for this game. After inputing all the required information (over and over) and clicking the connect button, it says it's connecting but doesn't even try to send a packet to my DSL modem!
Sent email to their tech support; no reply...back to store with this junk.

I am confused....the game is junk because you did not have the patience to wait for CS to "call" you back or read the suggestions on the anet website for what may be causing the problem? Did you trying turning off your personal firewall on your system? I had the same problem after they made the last update, showing that it was connecting to anet but it was not connecting at all. I had not had that problem previously so I went to the website got read that the updates may cause this change. So I went to my firewall turned it off and viola, I was able to get my fix.
Over 1 million other people have got it to work on their system....yeah it must be the game that doesn't work
Man I love this junk!!
Enjoy your games

I worked on this game all morning. It's junk because it's a NETWORK game that doesn't work on a common configuration using a common router, and there are no support phone numbers only a knowledge base.
In my opinion, a NETWORK game should work right out of the box. I've played many and only had problems with a few, and those problems were solved quickly by myself, or with a few minutes on the phone with tech support. I buy lots of software, and if a program doesn't work out of the box, I expect to get someone on the phone to fix it.
According to their website, there are problems using Netgear routers with this game. In another support article they suggest plugging my PC directly in to the modem! Are they kidding?
I brought the game back to the store already, but I am curious how long it will take for their tech support to reply to this new customer who cannot even create an account. I suppose the reason their tech support hides behind their website is because they already got your money and don't really need to hear from you.
And by the way:
* This game is the first thing installed after a clean WindowsXP SP2 install.
* All firewalls are turned off, and all router security is disabled.
* I just re-installed EQ, and it's running just fine, as usual.
Sorry to hear you could not get it to work. Mine worked right out of the box like I said as it has for over one million other people, that is a shame. You are missing out on an ejoyable game. I would be interested in knowing as well, how long it takes them to respond to you. I think it is comedy that they are going to call you (possibly) and try and help with a game you no longer own.
Good Luck and have fun with EQ

Well, thanks for the comiserations. They didn't respond to me today. I will update if and when they ever do.
In any case, I guess I should buy the latest EQ expansion. I have not played hardly any game this year and GW looked pretty cool. I was impressed by the graphics of the campfire and flags behind the login screen...which is all I ever got to see.
