^^^^^ see i knew someone would want to flame go and grow up.
Once I get my fill of GW2 I'll be subbing back to EQ2 but for now I play the Silver F2P. There are a lot of themepark games out there but EQ2 just feels different and seems to have more character. When you talk to quest givers you have a back and forth conversation rather than wall 'o text. Little stuff.
The key to EQ2 is knowing the systems that are there. Your first 10 levels will seem like 95% of MMOs, quest and kill, but get to the main city and start crafting and messing with housing. You can even write a book and have it be an object you can put in your place or sell to others. The item spread, especially when thinking about crafting, is pretty extensive when considering things like weapon types. The game is really deep in about every aspect.
With F2P you have access to two of each archetype and a handful of races. What SoE cuts off is not content (you can level to 90 I believe) but capacity. With Bronze entry level F2P the restrictions you'll notice right away will be bags, bank and the ability to sell on the auction house. Later you notice that mastercrafted is the highest gear you can equip as legendary is not avaiable aside from sub or item unlockers.
It's more grassroots gameplay because the best stuff for you is crafted, you vendor all of your gear, including legendary grade, and you have limited bag space. Most situations in leveling you'll be fine and may even seem like your not steamrolling everything. Anyone who likes a fantasy MMO should at least try it and make sure to try out the things mentioned above.
