Im not trying to be a joy kill here but Lineage 2 isnt a great game. I wish I could say it was a blast or one of the best games Ive played, but for me it didnt even come close. I had high hopes but I was severely let down.
The class system is simple with not much specialization. You have your basic melee charachters, your archers, your casters and your tanks, buffers and healers.
Leveling is grinding for the most part.
If your playing L2 on the pay 2 play servers the GRIND IS A NIGHTMARE. If there is a game out there you think had a bad grind, it doesnt compare to L2.
On a positive note, many people enjoy L2's pvp. Although Im personally not a fan because I think its too simplistic. As an example, DAOC has class's and there potential anti class. I didnt see this happening in L2 at all. Maybe thats not fair for me to compare L2's pvp to DAOC.
Maybe you could give us a better idea of what kind of game your looking for and what games you have enjoyed playing. I could definitely reccomend you something more enjoyable than L2.
great game insane grind .....and I mean that best stay away unless you have alot of time ...took me a year to get too 60 and i heard (and saw as they leveled) from my clan that 60-75 takes as long as 1-60 + the subclass redoing 40-75 it was all to much for me ...but it's great if you have the time
It's an awful game, there is no reason to play it when there are quality games like WOW on the market, unless you're a korean teenager that wants to act like a gangster and can grind 24/7.
How you can say it's awful, I have no clue. I like Lineage2 alot, great charatcer design, good story, quests, and MMO. I give it a two thumbs up for all of the above.
But after a while it starts getting less.....cost-effective. So,basically, it's a great game when you start, but it gets worse and worse as you play it. Kinda wierd to it's fullest.
Thy Name is Matthew Phillips. I have come to be your worst nightmare.
I was just wondering from people who have played it how it was and thanks for the great input. I have played alot of MMO from AC, AO, AC2, EQ, tried EQ2 for a little while, COH FFXI, Planetside, and currently WOW, also beta tested several too. I currently play WOW and COH and enjoy them both as they are completely different games. CoH i feel will get better when COV comes and which I am beta testing now. While I do like WOW, been playin since day 1 I feel I need a break from it as was looking to try something new. If I really like it I will stay with it. I am also in the beat for DnL but they dont have thier act together yet as the beat hasnt opened yet. Well I guess I will continue to search and gather info on what possibly to play next. Whats everyones thought on D&D Online
PS I would have to say also that AO was the most enjoyable game I played and was considering going back, but it is 4 yrs old and not sure how many people still play
If you like PvP, DEFINITELY try Lineage 2. When I used to play, I was PvPing since lvl 1 ! Though if you are going to play, don't get discouraged by the long grind(it is fun when you are in groups, if you have any friends you know, maybe both of you should get L2-makes it a lot better when grinding).
But be aware that L2 is really time consumming... MMOs are all time consumming anyway...It's a great game..so It's worthwhile to cost some times. in the other hand..I also hope the official site pace up their leveling system..so that we can upgrading faster..HAH

Question: Whats good about the character Creation (In YOUR Opinion) It Seems rather weak to me
1. Graphics They are very good although the artwork is pretty bland.
2. Leveling One of the few games where level means something and it actually takes work to level a character.
3. Guild system Leveling a guild is fun and I like that a leader has to sacrifice his/her abilities for the clan. Although they could have done so much more with guild leveling and added more meaningful perks than just increased size, a tage and allaince chat channels.
4. Castles. The castles are breathtaking and the castle battles are truly wonderful.
5. Dwarfs Drops are extremly rare making dwarves crafters and resource gathers extremly powerfull. Nice to see crafting an important part of gameplay.
Bad
1. Combat While not as bad or bland as Horizons it is very simple and limited.
2. World Lacking in differnt enviorments and mobs. The world just seems small comparred to other games. Mainly because it lacks content.
3. PvP Ssytem Plain awful. A pvp system that enocurages griefing, trash talking and juvenile behavior and discourages pvp.
4. Farmers.
5. Community One of the worst communities of any game. Griefers and children quickly drove all the good and mature players from the game. No accountabilty and griefers paradise pvp system encouraged these children to stay and act the way they do.
Overall
The PvP system is plain awful. It looks even worse thanks to the community. If you made L2 a pve only game or a full pvp game it would be much better. The castle battles against npcs were much better than battles against players. Mainly because the npcs are smarter, more mature and don't talk back.
The leveling system is nice. It is good to see a game that is a challenge but the problem is once you hit 60 or come close you start asking yourself why. Is it really worth it to level in a game so flawed with such a bad community. I could not recomend L2 to anyone. I can only imagine that the community has gotten worse since I stopped playing L2. A community filled with even more pimple faced hormone oozing children who have the unending need to express themselves in general chat in the most obnoxious way possible sounds beyond awful. But can it really be much worse than it was last year when I stopped playing L2. I hope never to find this out.
My advice would be to save your money and play a better game like DAOC, WOW, EQ1 or just wait another year until one of the new games like Vanguard comes out.
you didnt. You quoted the person above you who did. If you want me to change the deletion PM me and ill undelete for 5 minutes only. If you take the quote out Ill leave it as undeleted. If you dont, I have to delete it again

Just play on a "not-so-public" server. Takes the insane grind out of the game, and lets you get to the fun part without months of bland grind. Note: I didn't mention a specific server, you can do that research on your own.
If the post gets deleted, it is the biggest act of hypocrisy I've ever seen...your site is openly supporting adena sales...a clear EULA violation.
Lineage II is definately a pvp'ers game, since release I believe 3 (?) major chronicles have hit each adding a huge amount of content (I havent played since well into chronicle I). Its castle seiging is absoloutely amazing to be part of but none the less you have to be prepared to throw yourself into the game as the grind is brutal, it did get lessened slightly recently but still in comparison to any other MMO its brutal.
If you have the time, and patience and enjoy the conventional levelling/get better items system then I cant advise a better game (apart from maybe DAOC), the pvp is excellent and rewarding and can be done at earlier levels but really, really picks up at later levels when you start sieging and taking part in larger pvp skirmishes.
If you think you'lll like it read up on it a bit more and give it a go, im not sure if there is a trial at the moment though.

Lineage 2 is a truly terrible game, moving around or even doing anything for that matter is a nightmare and the gind is so insane that when I played I though I would go mad at any moment. The game also doesn't give you any satisfaction from leveling up as your toon will only get a couple of boring skills or spells every once in a while, not like in Everquest2 or City of Heroes for example where leveling up is always an exciting event. I reached level 35 on my archer toon and pretty much all that changed from level 10 or 20 was my damage output..
The game does have some nice visuals but the engine is so sluggish and limited you can never truly appreciate them. Sound is alright but the squeaks and squeals the characters utter when fighting are just ridiculous. Bugs are plentiful and I can't even count the times I got stuck in the terrain for no apparent reason.
In short I hate almost everything about this boring game, as someone mentioned only some crazy Korean kid with way too much time on his hands could really get any fun out of it (IMHO). Like almost all the asian mmorpgs It's just too much of a chore and not enough of a game.
I wouldn't reccomend this game to my worst enemy.
Have played: UO, WOW, COH/V, EQ2 Currently playing: Age of Conan (EU)
I've been playing only a week but I gotta honestly say its not all that bad. The graphics are in fact, pretty good. Much better them most games out there minus a few newer ones. There appears to be plenty of content although its all of the WoW variety (kill task) So far anyway.
The skill system is a bit on the dry side. Complexity appears to be in the form of items and enchantments although I'm not sure on it all yet. You more or less just attack the enemy and wait for your toon to finish up. It has been very fast leveling to this point. I hit 15 in about 4 evenings of casual play. I dont think I went that fast in WoW. Is speed of leveling a good thing or bad thing anyway? Racing to cap always seems to cause you to loose interest in a game faster.
To be honest its no different from any other MMORPG out there. It has some great graphics and well thought out starting zones. I could list about half a dozen other games that are just junk compared to it. (Star Wars Galaxies...........sorry couldn't help it, that one slipped )
My main complaint is the community. No one talks, no one groups, no one even has bothered to attack me yet. Its completely unlike what I expected. I thought I was going to log in and just get ripped to pieces until I couldn't take it anymore. Nothing of the sort happened.
The one thing I find rather odd about the game is the amount of female avatars running around. I would guess that over 75% of the avatars I see are female. Now come'on there are not near that many women playing this game guys.......... Dark Elf females are rather.....hummm....never mind. Anyway, its worth a look. I tried it out of boredom and found its actually not a bad game.
Be warned, it is a PvP game and sooner or later someone will come along and try to ruin your day. If you keep that in mind, you will not have a problem.
