Are bards good in this?

I haven't played in a while and I wanted to resub when the expansion came out but I ended up watching some stream of a guy playing a bard class from the Rogue calling and it looks like a blast, reminds me a lot of EQ1 at least. I might just resub before it comes out to get into the game maybe level a rogue. I have a 50 cleric (hes a fresh 50 tho, but it won't matter when xpac comes out).

Current MMO: WoW/GW2

Bards are basically mana/buff batteries.  You stand at a distance and tickle the mobs with your meager DPS while making sure you're keeping your buffs up.  Sort of like in EQ, bard buffs only last a few seconds, and you're constantly forced to recast the abilities.

It's a pretty easy class to play though.  I played a bard for the first several expert dungeons until I got enough gear to actually DPS worth a darn.  Most of the time, even when I get into groups as bard spec versus DPS spec, I still switch to DPS in order to down targets faster.  Most players are overgeared for the expert dungeons now, so bards aren't as essential, but I bet they are great for raids.  Never raided in Rift though.

A bard is a very important piece of the raid puzzle.

The player-base of Rift is saturated with Rogues, but many either dislike the bard souls or have no experience playing as one. Someone who wants to bard, and has a experience doing so, is almost guaranteed a lot of raid spots.

Yes Bards are good. Easy to learn hard to master. If you want to be a bard that gets invited, you should know what you are doing. Know what each buff is for and when to use it also learn what buff interactions you might have with other classes, The only one that comes to mind off the bat is a DPS buff that doesn't stack with a similar one from Chloro. Bards are also great in PVP. They are desireable in raids, but not in numbers. Maybe one or 2 per raid tops. Currently, they are not needed in lesser contant since over gearing means you'll actually be slowing down the "speed runs" I'd suggest go DPS even if undergeared for 5 man content. However,  with the new expansion releasing in a month, I expect bards will once again be wanted in lower level content.
