EverQuest II: PvP Questions

StraddenStradden Managing EditorMember CommonPosts: 6,696

EverQuest II is in the process of creating a brand new PvP system. Not only that, but they are also asking players, via a poll, how they would like this system to be implemented. The poll asks whether players would like the PvP to be integrated into the existing servers, or whether new PvP only servers should be added.

EverQuest II PvP Poll

“In the near future a new PVP system will be added to the already exciting world of EverQuest II. We would like to know whether you, the EQ II Community and players, would prefer…”

Head on over to the EQII webpage to cast YOUR vote.

Gee, they didn't listen before when people told them what kind of PvP they wanted, but NOW they are willing to listen? I guess the expansion didn't draw people back in the numbers they had hoped for...

And on top of that, I guess they don't want to hear from former players. Sorry, SOE, but I don't want to resubscribe just to vote.

I think your right that the expansion didn't pull back the numbers they were hoping for. And yeah it's pretty sad that they can't be bothered to make the poll readily available to former players.

Simply put if Sony had released EQII with special ruleset servers I would still be playing it today (as opposed to dropping it after four months).

I dont agree, I think the expansion have bought back alot of people who have reach their cap.  It also kept alot of people who have reached their cap or close to it, with the game.  People who are around level 30 who will work their way up to level 45 will get the expansion to continue their game play.  So SOE have reached their goal of success.  If people think a successful game have to a million people, that like shooting the moon and its not SOEs goal.

SOE is asking the wrong people for open pvp.  They need to have a poll for non customers.  If they get a total vote of 2,000 people on their forums, it doesnt bring out what people want.  Does SOE want open pvp server(s) to attract new customers?  The total player base who do go on the forum is maybe 1%.  If they do get 10,000 people who do vote who are currently playing, those people would be mostly biased to non open pvp.

The poll is asking whether players would want current servers integrated with the new pvp rulesets or if they would like the servers to be new and seperate. I may have missed it but I didn't see a mention as to how open they would allow PvP to be. In that case, it does make more sense to ask the active players because they are the ones who's servers will be affected - not potential customers. As for what type of PvP they should implement - that I agree they need to reach outside of their current customer base. The reason I never even touched EQ2 is because of the lack of PvP. So maybe I'd be interested in this game if SOE handles it well. We'll see...

SOE will most likely created one new server that is for open pvp.  If they were to turn an exisiting server, there might be some disgrunted players who might leave EQ2, even if SOE offered a free movelog.  Honestly, I think turning the server with the lowest population into open pvp, so that way the people who would leave that server would come to another that is more populated to give a better chance of grouping and such.

mmorpg that is adding pvp after release. I bet all pvpers are rushing to join now... not. Adding pvp to pve game late as eq2 is going to mean tons of balancing issues.

Look at all the non PvP games out there and you'll see games hurting for #'s.  They're a day late & a dollar short imo.

No PvP was a great decision; it's just that the game sucks. Adding PvP is going to make it suck even more.

Well, "the game sucks" is your opinion. I think the game is great. About 3 months ago, I started playing EQ2. Now, I wish I had chosen WoW first because I could have beaten quicker and then moved on to EQ2, thus playing 2 games in the same amount of time than one. I recently played WoW on a friends account. Everything was great! I loved the graphics, but most importantly, I loved the PvP. The whole good vs evil thing was great. However, if I had to choose between the two, it would be EQ2 simply because it isnt nearly as short as WoW. I want to realy work toward something. Back on subject, the polls are pointing to PvP specific servers, which means players have a choice. But, I hope the PvP is like WoWs, because it was great. I would love to play some PvP on EQ2 that is similar to WoW. However, I do believe that players should have a choice to playing on a non pvp or a pvp server. I, of course, will be moving to a PvP server, if they allow me to transfer characters, which I believe they will do. If not, I will be highly angry and there is no telling what I may do in my fit of rage!
  • Sorry but, i dont know if the game is still with ZONE loading like in the first 3 month i played it. Because if they give pvp evil again good LOL, i fear that it will be like EQ 1 people will wait at the loading zone and ZERG you to death. That was like that in the first when they introduce pvping, so that why i am sure the pvp of EQ2 will suck bad. They should have put the game like WoW where only dungeon and travel route have loading time. That my piont , maybe that will not be like this.
