I liked the Matrix... but I here nothing but nightmares about this game and now it's even worse with SOE slappin' their big corporate whore meat on it. I still feel the urge to try it myself though... mixed rumors and feelings of other people's thoughts generally are not a good reliable source of criticism but I still like to hear em'. So is it?

Please tell me about the way you play mmorpgs and your gameplay style. There is only one elite type of gamer's play style that really works with this game.
First off, how many hours a day do you play?
Are you good at general PvP rules?
Do you like pvp?
Do you not mind grinding?
answer those and then i can tell you whether or not its worth it. Honestly, short answer is no. Not many people fit into the elite core group that plays this game. There are about 50 people who REALLY play the game. Everyone else is just kind of ... eh. Per server that is. If you want to join that group you have to hit 50 and be good at pvp. If not, then your just a eh player. PvP is the central focus point of this game. It is your source of fame. People care more about if you can kill than if you can type complete sentences. (although that does help).
Actually SOE is doing a lot better than Monolith with the game.
It IS for causal players. A bit of a grind but hey what MMORPG isn't?
Go ahead and try it
No its not worth a try, its on its last legs. Let it be.
Life support actually, I think at one point they had to get out the defibulator.

If you have a Station Access account, then it's worth a try. You're already paying one price for six games or so, you may as well get the most out of it.
The MXO box in most stores is going for $16 - $18, which isn't bad. I picked it up to add to my Station Access sub.
Compared to beta, it's a completely different game performance-wise. My first suggestion when getting in game is to go to the display / video options and uncheck the automatic settings for the video. Then play with the different settings until you get ones that match your system's performance. I personally found that if I kept the default high quality settings, my performance suffered. When I turned off building/object/character shadows and made some minor LOD adjustments, my performance was great and the visual quality was very high. I could leave on all the other bells and whistles (high reflections, etc) and I didn't take a performance hit.
I would also disregard anyone saying that it's not a casual game. You can jump in and catch on pretty quickly and there are always missions to do. How deep you go past the initial missions / content or how much you get involved in the community is up to you. You can accomplish something whenever you log in.
The more I've played, the more I've begun to understand the interlock combat system and it makes sense. We'll see what SOE has in store for combat, overall.
It's worth a try if you've already got a Station Access sub.

This game was fantastic... for about a month. I got it when it first came out and played almost non-stop (cost me a lot of sick days). Then I got the maximum level, close to all of the best items and quit a little while after. I must say the community was easily the best I've seen in any game so far. They were the only reason I wanted to stay. There just wasn't any reason to keep playing. None of the bugs were being fixed, there was nothing to do, the story sucked, and the lag was awful. If there's ever a trial offered, I'd recommend it to everyone. Maybe they've fixed some of the problems since I left, doubt it though.

pretty much agree with most of the posts here.
The game was great for 6 days for me. And then. finished. by day 8 all of it had been explored and level maximum's reached. By day 11 i realised that there were other more intresting chatrooms on MSN. I spent the rest of the month chatting via the AIM messenger interface with the other players without actually logging on to the game. This was the best feature of the game.
Dire game. the worst mmo i have ever had the pleasure of. The crowd was nice.
There are so many other games out there to choose from.
A free trial? if you are really curious, but if you have the choice of two free trials and only only a limited amount of time to play choose another.
for all the SOE hate out there in the world, there is no possible way they could have made this game worse.
The SOE multipass has got to be the only reason anyone would actually be found on one of these servers.
SOE is taking on another MMORPG OMG.
no wander none of there MMORPGs get fixed.
