Hello. I am playing guildwars and world of warcraft atm. but i played EQ2 for awhile but it was lacking so much it didn't really hold my interest. With all the new stuff they added the the game, is it worth coming back to EQ2?
Yes. I dont know how much you played EQ2 before, but I can say they have taken out allmost all the negative things in the game, and improved the game all around greatly!
1) Is your system decent? And by decent I mean 2.0ghz cpu, at least a gig of ram and a 256mb higher end video card. If it is then the game will play great. If not, you might come to resent all the bump mapping.
2) Are you up for a challenge? Since the combat revamp, the game has about doubled in difficulty. Heroic mobs with 3 up arrows and higher are dramatically more difficult now. Just forget about trying to kill a 3 up arrows Heroic that is yellow or orange con, even with the best group. You will wipe and you will wipe HARD. Even a white con 3 up arrow heroic will only be beatable by the most well balanced, skilled group.
Last night in Blackburrow, I had an amazing group. We were all level 16, and had 2 clerics, a shaman, a warrior and a rogue. We slaughtered everything till we tried to fight the cave shimmers. A group of 4 blue con 3 up arrow Heroic twinkles that were immune to physical damage. We were doing ok till the healers starting catching aggro, and then we wiped hard.
I for one am exhilarated by the combat revamp and its challenges. Anyone who got to level 50 before this got there the easy way. Now it is a true challenge to get good loot. You can still level up quite fast on normal or lower heroic mobs. Soloing is actually just as fast as grouping, at least in the teens where I am.
Not everyone is as stoked about the combat revamp as me though, but I am having basically the most fun in an MMOG since Everquest.
I dont believe the game has changed enough for someone to want to come back. The combat has changed, but thats the only big thing. I duel people now, but just for fun, just among friends. If you left for a reason, I dont think the game has changed enough for you to change your mind. I still play it, but I liked it before and after the changes. I do like WoW alot, but its too short. So, I'm stickin' with EQ2.
Plenty of stuff to come back for. Crafting changes, combat changes, two adventure packs, one expansion pack new level cap. I think heaps have changed since it was released.

If you say that EQ2 was "lacking", I think you will come to realize that it has been fulfilled with new content. Give it a try, you may be suprised.
If for no other reason, you should come back just for the chance to run into one of the bona fide MMORPG.com psuedo celebrities like En1gma, Anarchy, myself, and a couple others who's names slip my mind at the moment.

It all depends on two key factors.
1) Is your system decent? And by decent I mean 2.0ghz cpu, at least a gig of ram and a 256mb higher end video card. If it is then the game will play great. If not, you might come to resent all the bump mapping.
