Haha, I see all these posts about a girlfriend, a girl, or social life being the root cause of my MMORPG addiction dying. But, here's my real reason why I've quit. At this point, I've looked back on my life, again. I realized, 3 years of my life has been committed to socializing in a fantasy world.
Only people in an online community would understand a lot of things, if I went into the real world and acted the way I'd on an IRC chat, people surely would look at me strangely. But, I've made a ton of friends I added them to my hotmail. But, as the time went by more and more of my friends went offline, and the one girl I talked for hours on end in MMORPG's and even got me into this whole world, has stopped talking to me, we didn't have a wonderfully beautiful severance but, the talking is over. She used to play UO and, showed me how to play, now that she's gone completely, I just don't feel the urge anymore.
Professor Hubert Farnsworth - That question is less stupid but, you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.

I was in the same rut, but I rediscovered Daoc so I got my fix, considering I've poured over 60 hours in it with hardly noticing Buck up, something's out there for you.

hey guys, these past 2 months or so, christ, even longer, i been getting sick of WoW, i didnt even get to the peak of my char his good sh!t yet, (I.E. mail at lvl 40) im at 38 and have basicly no interest of getting to 40... i have allmost alted myself to death, got a 35 rogue, a 37 priest, 22 mage, 18 warrior, and- nothing, does, it, for, me. its quite disgusting actually, i spent hours on this, and now.... i dont think i like mmorpg's anymore... i came from a long line of GREAT mmo's out there, stuck with UO for countless years..but then again, i basicly have no time to play games.. crossbetween work and training, im just waiting for a game to automaticly make me lazy. lol. a game that will suck me in, and just destory my after work hours. lmao. what i need to do, is take a long break, go to my consoles, play stuff there, till i get the urge like a ton a bricks to pick up and start playing again!.. who knows, might pick up my nes again, rock out some duck hunt. ooo yea.... friggen ducks....

Im the same with EQ2, level 47 Templar and can't be bothered to log back in and hit toons - bored to death. But I AM interested in thsi ref to DAOC - I am searching around to find a new mporg, and waiting dopr PoTBS - whats so special about doac?
I feel the same way, been drifting around quite a few mmorpgs for the last couple of years but can't find anything that gives me the same buzz as my first two (AC & DaoC). I'm waiting to give D&L a try next month but if that doesn't float my boat then I'll probably hang up my boots and find something else to do for a while.
i understand completely, its not that we are growing up, im never gonna grow up and im 18! i think its because there are not any games being released that have that much appeal. everything is the same and nothing is new. plus communities in mmo's are turning into crap. a bunch of little kids running around and cussing you out.
I also find myself getting a little bored with MMO's nowadays. I think it's because, as someone mentioned before, the end-game is just digustingly lame.
I don't take any enjoyment in finding 40+ people, most of the time disliking a good portion of them, to repeat tedious dungeon crawling raids for that one special item, or to kill that one god, often with minimal variation in strategy. It's sad, when end-game is basically just macroing in the same 5-8 skills for long periods of time.
The last MMO I played was FFXI, which I would say has one of the worst end-games I've ever experienced. Sitting around for hours, waiting for an enemy to pop, praying to GOD to get the claim. Not to mention that most servers have a handful of LS's/guilds/clans/etc that monopolize the claim on specific monsters...which means the only way you'll see certain items is to pucker up and kiss some ass.
I think I'd fall back in love with MMO's if they'd figure out a way to spruce up combat strategies a little bit. That's a big reason I was so disappointed when Imperator was cancelled...
Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...
MMOFPSG anyone? honestly i dont think a developer could make a Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter Game a sucess. How are you going to level up a soldier in WWII or a Special Agent fighting an alien invasion? What Skills could he learn? And the whole first person shooter thing contradicts a most all MMO's out there. But then again I'd love to see one come up. I'd try it out.

Add one part playing WoW too long.
Add one part Social life starting up.
Add two parts of Girl interested in you.
And youve got how I lost most of my interests in MMORPGs as of lately..
Ironically all my friends are starting to play then
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...
