Minions of Mirth. This game is much much much like an everquest clone, 16 classes, 10 races, etc. Alot of the spells seem to be similar as well. But they have many neat features included. For instance you can create a character and play the game offline(this character cannot be transfered to your online ones for obviouse reasons). They will patch your offline content as well so you will never be hindered. Its still in Alpha but its a really cool game. Secondly there will be NO monthly fee. Just a one time fee!.(you can actually participae in open beta but you must pay 29 dollars for their pre-ordering the game thingy). if you don't want to pre-order you can just download their demo and try it offline though.
*New Feature* you can use your other characters(alts) and stick them ingame in your party sort of like a final fantasy game(in where your party is with you but you only see your main chracter's 3-D avatar chosen). and when you kill a monster all the exp is devided between all your alts. Then if you feel like switching to a different party member, you can hit an Inn in a town and swap the leader. its quite interesting. Try it.(spell lists can be found on the top of their forums page as well as classes/races)
Seriously though, If you played everquest..and enjoyed it ALOT..but hated the monthly fees and hated what it became, try this game..(no monthly fee's, Feel identical to EQ) and get a fresh new start.

It seems they havn't advertised much though so this is the main reason I've never found it before.

oh yes and there will be multi-classing in this game. i believe up to three clases can multi up to level 100. but each one's skills can go up to level 70ish, so you would be hindering yourself some.

I follow alot of games and never have i seen this one ;o, i must say it looks impressive so i am currently downloading the demo right now. Coudly u possilby share some more info on this game abit about how it plays, when its final release is and if it has a big following etc. I also find the fact that it is online and offline a cool feature to, im guessing with it being offline aswell it isnt like a normal mmorpg as they wouldnt really work without other people being there to compete with.
More info more info im impressed. Thanks.

Sadly i just downloaded it this morning haha, so i cannot comment on when they are planning on releasing it. But i do know that if you preorder it, you get to test all their classes/races as well as get to see all the zones and get all the benefits of the beta version. Although i don't want to pre-order untill i see more content or know mroe about the game myself . what do you think of it so far?

as much as i loved playing my iksar monk in EQ.....
when you say EQ are you saying there will be no PVP/PK.
and a level grind to 60?
Hmm, looks pretty cool. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the idea of including the tools so people can host their own servers and tools to make their own updates, etc. Brilliant! And no monthly fees is kick-ass too! Looks like they need more advertising for sure tho, so it gets some popularity and so its makes enough money to make it in the overly competitive mmo market these days.
I have downloaded the demo, but am running into a problem with a windows security problem crashing the game right now. I'm sure it's an easy fix, but I am watching football today, and don't feel like piddling with the puter all day to try and figure out this little problem I've never seen before.
I will let you know what I think of the game when I get it to play, and if I am impressed enough, I will DEFINATELY buy the pre-order and give more details. We'll see....

Wow! If it wasn't for the fact that they were planning on selling this thing, I'd say it was a custom patch to connect to EQEMU. If players can actually run their own servers then this could be the graphical MUD package we've been waiting for since NWN came out. I'll be watching this one.
Just on a side note. How am i an advanced member with only 10 posts?

Thanks! I'm downloading the offline demo right now.
If roleplayers flocked to this thing, this could be what I've been looking for.
cool thanks for link, screenshots look really retro everquesty. I personally think Everquest could have been done differently, not like these clones. Will be interesting to try.
This game personally seems extremely fun to me. I mean its crazy how similar it is though hehe, monks even get Feign death. But i SERIOUSLY am debating pre-ordering it. If i do pre-order, its discounted to the actual release price(whatever that may be, or whenever that may be too hehe). But i am afraid of buying it and then realizing it will be canceled due to bad advertisement considering of how much in the dark it is you know?

I have this, and it is really fun. I'm Aegis on their site. I have played it a lot. Calling it an EQ clone... Is a gross understatement, and maybe even an insult. Really. The fundimental gameplay premise sounds clone-ish, yes, but when you get into the details... You have to use actual STRATEGY, or you die a slow horrible death. It's no Runescape-esque click and sit fest. Your brain is engaged, at least a bit, which is more than I can say for most gameplay-clone games around. The game is so detailed, there are tons of classes and races, enough to get exactly what YOU want. The game is fairly skimpy on content, but you see that's how it really shines. The content creation tools and tutorials are not just for running your own server. If you create something really nice, the developers of the game (who by this time you almost definitely know them personally) will add it to the game. YOUR ideas shape the world, YOUR lands are traversed by players fighting monsters to get that levelup.
Please note though, it would not be worth a purchase if it had a monthly, at least in my opinion. However, it is a one-time $25. All I can say about the price: pwn.

Hello, this is Josh Ritter from Prairie Games.
We've been hard at work on Minions of Mirth and it's great to read the comments in this thread. The game definitely is influenced by Everquest, Diablo, Morrowind, etc. It also has some features that are quite unique.
You can play the game online or in single player. You can also host your own worlds and create original content. It's very much a "3d MUD" system.
We'll be upgrading our internet connection soon for the MMORPG component. There is no monthly service fee to play online.
You can download a demo of the game, which includes multiplayer and single player game modes here:
http://www.prairiegames.com/MoMDemoInstaller.exe
There is also a demo available for OSX. It's linked from our site.
Here are some night shots from the beta:

Wow, I got a developer to post on my thread hehe..neato! but i was reading the FAQ and it said their possibly could be a small monthly fee for the mainstream servers...that sorta turned me off...infact let me go find it.
yep found it.. So there might be a fee?(if you wanted to play on official servers? which i most likely would only want to play on)

That is an old post which needs to be changed. We have no plans for a monthly fee.

Interesting! you might want to take that down then. Oh, but do you have any rough dates on when the game might be released? 2007? 2006? heck 2008? anything'd do . It really does seem promising. And also, will there be facial custimation and hair to characters, not just muscle build?
Ps. Its like Guildwars(payment wise) But sooo much better.

Now that I've spent some time with it, I can say that it still has a long way to go. However, I think this genuinely shows a great deal of promise. Right now I'm all for looking over the inherent clunkiness of the battle system if this truly finds it's niche. I love the idea of a (relatively) large scale graphical MUD sandbox.
I'll definitely keep my eye on it. Excellent work so far.
looks cool

From a marketing standpoint, I must say that the offline demo for an MMORPG is one of the most intelligent demos/trials ever offered. You see everything the game has to offer, you don't take up paid for server space, and you're left wondering how much better your experience would be when you add real people to the mix.
