You are not forced to play in your homeland you can travel and meet up friends right?
Ohh, did I forget to say It's buy and play.
Guild Wars 2 have huge amount of content for players to experince when they buy the game and still this game is attacked from all side like a common sub game.
Why is that?
Because it does not have huge amounts of content and get boring after 1-2 months of casual play. GW 2 is only the second MMO, after SW:TOR, which I played and which has barely any proper end-game content.
and if you want a reasonable response I do not think this forum atleast is the place for it.
Where do you consider the right place for it to be, if not here? This is the way forums are. Lot of noise, but a lot of reasonable discussion, too. If you can't tell the difference, that just might be an issue on your end.
This is the internet, thats all I am saying every one has opinions and you cant knock that, asking for these opinion will cause a poo storm, and as you can see..... well we will just let this thread show you./
The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true.
- The former hype as a second MMO coming: well it's clearly not the second coming
- The complete lack of grouping and trinity, resulting in relatively mindless zerging
- Calling innovation what is no innovation: Removing questhubs. Really?
- Repetitive questing brought nothing new to the table (kill 10 rats, collect X), still got a 10/10 innovation score
- Celebrating "B2P" when it's in fact nothing but a 60$ lifetime sub for a F2P game with heavy cash shop enforcement (grab bags treasure chests with ridiculously low drop rates)
- worst customer support ever with open tickets which are several weeks old and never resolved
Plenty of conent? NO. In less than 150 hours of playtime i had over 50% world completion, had done everything in every zone above level 60 and most of the zones below that. I had 2 crafting skills maxed. I had obtained full suits of orange equipment. All i had left was dungeons that would get me worse gear than i had that looked a little different, big whoop. Or i could PVP it up, which i already spent about 10 hours doing and was bored out of my mind. Keep swapping is boring.
You are not forced into a roll in a dungeon run?
Not being forced into a roll is probably the biggest reason i feel this game is a failure.
You are not forced to play in your homeland you can travel and meet up friends right?
Most modern MMO's havent had this problem for a long while.
Ohh, did I forget to say It's buy and play.
Also not a good thing because the devs have no impetus to provide quality additional content. They've already got your money, keeping players in the game benefits them very little.
Guild Wars 2 have huge amount of content for players to experince when they buy the game and still this game is attacked from all side like a common sub game.
Because you and I, and apparently tons of other people, clearly have a differing opinion of what a "Huge amount of content" is.
Why is that?
[mod edit]
Oh great one may I haz your "full suits of orange equipment"? please sir I be poor T_T

When people stop bashing a game it means they stopped caring. usually it means most players left and the game is dying. i learned that in FF XIV when some time after release their official forums had only like 3 trolls. The game died and no one cared to even fight the fanboys. So the amount of bashing is proportional to the success of the game =P

Well, I still don't understand why, looking at a rockvideo at youtube that had nothing to do with games what so ever!!!!, had a comment below saying: "GW2 is going to destroy WoW!!!!" What the F.!?

ha so true:)
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

Backlash OP. On top of the game not meeting the hype that was set forth by it's most hardened supporters.
You might have missed it, but for 8 months or so all we heard was "Game X sucks. GW2 is great." GW2 turned out not being so much better than all the other game X's. To some worse.
Basically I think a lot of people were like wtf? The "King" has no clothes.

So you're saying that people are hating on GW2 because of some dude that commented on a random YouTube video?

Sure, by your theory SWTOR should now have 10 Million subs...
guess he should of phrased that the volume of bashing... swtor forums hardly move these days...wow bashing is still very prevelant on all forums

Why can't you writer something that is worth reading.

Not from you.
I know I'm late to this thread, but what the heck is going on here? Is the OP really mindlessly (and apparently seriously) dissing sammy for sarcastically agreeing with him?

It's a AAA product, sure.
I'd question the "plenty of content for everyone" thing though. Most of the "content" is shallow, repeatable zerg events.
A lot of people don't feel "forced" into a roll for dungeons. They play healers and tanks because they like to play healers and tanks.
A lot of games let you travel to play other zones. That's nothing new.
It is buy and play, but you get what you pay for. If you really like the zerg-style PvP, then it's great. It's like a CoD mmo. The tacked on "storyline" doesn't exactly change that.
As for why people are attacking it, it's probably because a lot of them/us are tired of all the hype for months leading up to the release, about how revolutionary this game was going to be, and how it was going to herald in a new era. It didn't. It's just another random psuedo-MMO with little more depth than Diablo x.

I agree it's just like a CoD MMORPG. In fact, it's a lot like CoD. The only differences are the fantasy setting, the gameplay, the clases, the itemization, the fact it's a different genre, and basically everything about the game.

Fuck me.
I'm saying that GW2 fans are way out of control!
They do say that commenting on unrelated YouTube videos is just one step away from full blown insanity.
People (at least on this site) remember all the trolling that was going on from gw2 fan's so I would expect their is a little bit of payback going on. Also the hype for gw2 was way to high (remember gw2 can cure cancer folks) and when it did not live up to all the players expectations there is going to be some blowback.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
